About this property

Nova Scotia’s North Shore Cottage

Enjoy our quiet beach and swim in the warmest waters north of the Carolinas! Watch the seals sunbathe at low tide while the herons and sandpipers search for hermit crabs. Enjoy the panoramic water view and amazing summer sunsets. Access the ATV Trails and Snowmobile trails nearby. You need only pack a bag, everything you need is close by in either River John or Tatamagouche.

Everything you could need to enjoy your stay is here and we encourage you to use our things!

Outdoors:
Barbecues (propane and charcoal), fire pit (and wood), hammock, toys, badminton, croquet, and washer toss. We have a right of way to the beach close by (pictured) that includes a sitting area with a bench. There are folding chairs under the stairs, and more in the large shed, for beach use.

There's also a large second story patio with umbrella, dining table, deck chairs and propane fire table.

Indoors:
Crib, crokinole, board games, dart board, Smart TV in main room and small TV with built in DVD player in the main floor bedroom with lots of DVDs. As well, a Bose Bluetooth speaker.

We leave condiments and various kitchen essentials for your use.

Enjoy our large soaker tub, with fireplace, in a sauna-like setting. Lots of hot water!!

Beautiful Escape

We had a fantastic week at this gem of a spot on the Northumberland Strait. The kids loved combing the nearby beach for sea glass, shells, and other treasures and a sandy beach was also very close by where they enjoyed playing in the water and sand. The host was friendly and responsive to any questions we had, the place was very clean and well-organized, and the sour dough bread they left for us as a welcome gift was a lovely touch!

Wonderful location, wonderful cottage, and just an amazing experience. Can’t say enough about the beauty of the area, the charm of the cottage - complete with everything you might need for a fun stay, and the responsiveness and kindness of Jeanne - the owner. Also just two min drive from a beautiful sand beach as well as two seconds throw from an equally as beautiful rocky/sand mix beach. Highly highly recommend and we’ll be back!

AMAZING HOST - AMAZING STAY!!!

The host was fantastic! We were greeted with a fresh baked loaf of bread on the counter. The property was very clean and very inviting. The decor encouraged you to look with detail at everything in every room. A stones throw from the ocean and a quiet area. I would definitely recommend this stay to anyone looking to explore the area.

Great cottage and area

This is a great cottage and beautiful area in NS. Rushton Beach just down the street is a fantastic beach with very warm water. The communication with the owner was fantastic!

If there was an option to select 12 out of 10, this is the place ! Jean was communicative, friendly and here oasis on the river is fantastic. My wife and I will be back as soon as time allows ! HIGHLY recommend this place.

We loved our stay!

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage and the location were perfect. Our kids loved the playing in the ocean, around the cottage in the yard, and the fire pit was a hit with them as well. Jeanne (our host) was very helpful and responsive throughout as well.

Beautiful!

Our expectations were high from the listing, and our stay exceeded them! This is a beautiful cottage in a great location by the ocean. In mid-March, it was very comfortable, and we were even able to use the deck. We were well stocked with any amenity that we could want, including a delicious loaf of sourdough bread that was waiting for us upon arrival, and it’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into the decor. Checking in and out was easy, and our host was helpful and responsive. Would definitely stay again.

Great location. Great property. Great neighbours! Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and would highly recommend! Highlight-the host left us a lovely loaf of sourdough bread and we got to enjoy the Northern Lights in cottage country, couldn’t have been better!

Girls weekend

We had the best time at this sweet rustic cottage. There was everything there that you would ever need. All you need to take is your clothing and food. The cottage has a beautiful view of the ocean, beautiful setting areas. The beds were very comfortable. Our host contacted me before hand to give us perfect directions, and very easy to get into the house. Overall we had a great weekend and definitely hope to return. There was five of us so economically it was very affordable.

Great house for large group

There were only two of us, but the house seemed great for a family or group of friends - lots of different spaces to hang out (upstairs deck, front deck looking out onto the bay, large lot, upstairs loft bedroom.) The house was well equipped in kitchen, bathroom and entertainment. Just be aware that the nearest place for groceries and restaurants is Tatamagouche, about 16 km away.

I could live here forever !!!!!

Wow !!! I came to town to handle some very emotionally charged issues and truly needed a peaceful , soul soothing place to call home for 4 days . From the moment I pulled into the driveway , I knew the place was going to be special . It was without a doubt , one of the best experiences I have ever had with vacation rental properties . The cottage exudes charm and warmth , the location is so perfectly situated to watch the sunrise or the sunset every day - there’s panoramic views of the straight from almost every square foot of this place . The locals were so hospitable and the neighbors directly across the road from the cottage were unbelievably kind and welcoming . Any basic supply, implement or comfort was provided by the very thoughtful host . A 3 minute drive net is a walk through the beautiful Rushton Beach area.! A 15 minute drive bright is to the sweetest little village of Tatamagouche - a 20 minute drive to a lavender farm- a 30 minute drive to a beautiful winery . I could live in this slice of heaven provided by Jeanne and John. Thank you so much for sharing your peaceful place with us . It was so special we had to dance the happy dance all around before we headed home (literally !!!!!)

Family Vacation 2024

Wow! What a spectacular cottage. I travelled from Ontario to spend a week with my kids and grandkids, we really enjoyed our time here. The weather was perfect, the views of the ocean were awesome, a short walk along the beach we saw seals basking in the sun and swimming around. The sunsets were amazing every night! There front of the cottage is all windows so if you like to see the ocean there is no shortage of views but the very best view is waking up in the morning in the loft and looking at the ocean and the sky meld together. Priceless! The cottage had everything we needed including lots of comfortable seating areas especially the lounge chair on the roof top patio and the chaise lounge in the beautiful loft bedroom, my little oasis! The kitchen had everything we needed including lots of condiments and spices for cooking. We played lots of board games plus there were plenty of outdoor games as well to enjoy. We biked around the little dirt roads along the ocean and had fun meeting some of the really friendly neighbors. Our favorite spots were Blue Sea beach, Rushton Beach (2 min drive), Tatamagouche Train, Lismore farm and top of the list was the Country Bread Bakery in Brule Point Rd. Jeanne’s special SourDough bread was a lovely welcoming surprise and was delish!!! The communication with the host was excellent. 5 Stars ✨ doesn’t seem to be adequate so I give it 10 out of 5!
