Smaller unit. Pull out couch mattress is very thin and uncomfortable leaving one of the guests to sleep on the floor. Air conditioning units are loud wall units. Lots of bugs most likely due to the location but cob webs were everywhere. Great location all things considered. Happy with our experience all in all.
The condo was well appointed and everything was as advertised. The view was amazing and the beach access was perfect. Although you share the property with other guests, there are two hot tubs and enough grills for all guests. Highly recommend and would stay again.
Property was spotless very clean. Overlook of the beach was great nice community space. The living room gets a bit crowded with more than 3 but we split time in the evening between the living room and the deck.
Location is amazing! House is right on the beach and the sunset view is perfection. Dining is all walkable and we had a great time in the casino at the Lake House. Apartment was clean (except the windows were full of spiderwebs). The apartment we had shares the second floor with another apartment. The walls are thin and our neighbors were loud. That was not a great combination. The apartment has nice features - kitchen is great, bathroom is nice as well. Great shower. Beds are double beds, which is not my favorite, but they were comfortable and the bedding was nice as well. The hot tub was great. We only stayed two nights, but honestly the experience was pretty great. (Luckily our loud neighbors left after night one.) Access to the beach is easy and the deck is a spacious and comfortable place to watch the sunset.

The windows were extremely dirty. Spider webs throughout the place. No curtains in the kitchen. No mirrors in the bedrooms. No hooks on walls to hang anything. One of the bedrooms air conditioner along with the kitchen air conditioner needs to be replaced. No remote control to the tv. The deck hasn’t been swept in a while. The door that adjoined the other apartment wouldn’t stay closed for their dogs kept busting through and would be in our place.
This is our fourth year vacationing at Sylvan and our first time at the Compass Rose. My family and I had a very restful, enjoyable, and comfortable experience. It was a pleasant surprise to see that the condo was equipped with everything that we could have needed. Including a doggie feeding mat for Dr. Bob our furry family member. Thank you to the owners for being quick to respond to emails and thoughtful with providing an enjoyable experience for my family
The condo #4 had excellent views, great parking, great beach access, and spacious. However, there was thousands of small flys that seemed to enter in through the A/C window units. There was no dishwasher that was advertised. There were a couple of items that were nonfunctional. For instance, TV remote and TV did not work, bathroom sink did not drain unless you remove the drain stopper, and the ignition starter on the grill. Other issues. The flooring was uneven especially in front of the bathroom/kitchen area, the shower floor was squishy with sharp broken grout. Despite the above, we did have an enjoyable stay.
Cute and spacious house. Right on the lake and walkable to everything you could want in Sylvan Beach. Plenty of places to eat in town and the sunsets are hard to beat. The house overall is comfortable and we never felt cramped, despite having 4 adults, a small dog and 2 teens. Lots of room to spread out, especially the porch. Only complaint was the inaccurate description of the beds. All full size, no queens. Lastly, the owner was very responsive. Would love to return.
Very nice place and comfortable beds. Although, if you have small children that still take naps, this particular unit might be a bit noisy. There’s a set of doors that looks like a closet but it’s actually a neighboring unit. It’s locked and blocked off but you can clearly hear everything on the other side. Our neighbors had a large group and they’d often hold conversations by the door. Also, something to consider if you have toddlers, there is no deadbolt option on the main door. My little guy let himself out a couple times. Other than that, the place is beautiful and well appointed. Perfect for a couple or small group of friends.
The house and unit was easy to find and access. The view from the Second Floor Balcony was spectacular. The description of the house could be a little more clear. The "Compass Rose" Unit (#4) indicated that it had 2 beds in one room and 2 beds in another room, when in fact is has 2 beds in one room, 1 in another room, and 1 pullout sofa in the living room.
The place was nice, convenient, and right on the beach. Had all the things we needed for our stay. The cleanliness of the unit could have been better. There were spider webs in places and the bathroom smelled like sewage/mustiness when we arrived. The back door was also jammed and would not open without extreme force. The hot tubs were a great addition to this place, but they were not very clean.
Overall we would stay again with hopes that it would be cleaner next time.
