This home is located in the 4000 acre, Leatherwood Mountain Resort in Ferguson, NC. Our guests are invited to enjoy our Horseback Riding program where you can experience the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains pristine wilderness by Horseback (reservation required). You will have access to miles of hiking trails, mountain streams, stocked fishing pond, community swimming pool, play ground and tennis courts, creek tubing (seasonal), on-site restaurant with active live music & event calendar (guest advised to check hours when planning meals).

Leatherwood Mountains has surveillance or recording devices on the property. Our neighborhood is very safe and our property very secluded. For added peace of mind, we have security cameras by the gated entrance and common areas. Individual properties may also have cameras on the EXTERIOR of homes. Please be assured they are not directed at private areas, hot tub porches etc.

The house was in a perfect location. Secluded and privacy is really good. The views in the morning was perfect. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and we will definitely be back again. We were having issues with the water in the house, we called the helpline and they came right away to check it out. Thank you for doing that. Perfect location for family time.

Lovely mountain get-away!

Black Bear Lodge lived up to its name with all of the bear themed accessories. The furniture and beds are comfy and there’s plenty of rocking chairs on the back deck for an entire family to enjoy the sunset view.

Great stay, great view!

Pleasant overall experience, enjoyed the Mountain View and hot tub. Well equipped kitchen however had a problem with grill heating up and the dishwasher broke on our last day.

Mountain vacation

We had a nice stay at Black Bear Lodge. It was clean and comfortable. Loved the hot tub! We enjoyed playing pool together. Just know that getting to the cabin is tricky. Lots of steep roads hugging the mountain. It also takes a long time to get to a town or city. If you are looking for a secluded place, this is perfect!

Great Weekend Getaway

Great views, lots of room and plenty to do around the property, games, hot tub, and hiking trails. Would book again. Only issue was the sheets on our bed was dirty with lent, hair and stained. We removed the sheets and washed them.

Wonderful weekend with friends. Plenty room for the six of us loved there was three king beds view was stunning. Definitely needed a new master mattress. Otherwise perfect weekend.

Wonderful cabin on a mountain.

Fantastic family adventure. The views are wonderful, the beds are comfortable, cabin had everything we needed. Plenty of space for all. Family pool tournament was fun and hiking the Daniel Boone trail was great in 18 in of snow. Had to stay an extra day bc of weather and the management was awesome. Want to come back in the spring to ride horses. Property is private. Hot tub was great in the snow. Would recommend.

It is Pet Friendly

The house seemed nice and had a good view. Unfortunately we were only at the house for 2 hours because my spouse had an allergic reaction. He is severely allergic to dogs and cats. The listing noted no pets so I thought we would be fine, but when I talked to the property manager she said it was a pet friendly house. When it says no pets, people assume that it has not had pets inside. The property manager was extremely helpful and relocated us to another home.

Wonderful retreat

My friends and I came here for a weekend get away to celebrate a milestone birthday. We wanted something restful, convenient, fun, and in nature. We got all of that and more. The property was just as advertised. We really enjoyed hanging out on the deck with the views and soaking in the hot tub. The house is spacious and well-stocked with everything we could need. We were pleasantly surprised that there was live music at the restraint on Friday. The one thing I would change is that the hiking trails that are walking distance form the house were badly eroded and messed up from horses using them so we couldn’t walk on them. That’s not the fault of anyone though, it’s just the situation when you share trails with horses. We had to drive off property to go hiking. But I would totally recommend this place to others and would gladly come back again.

Relaxing retreat

Cozy mountain cabin to get away from it all for a few days. Close enough to the Boone area to go to attractions daily but far enough away to see all of the stars.
