Thanks, Skye! We’re glad you enjoyed your night at Hammock Haven and our slightly unusual version of Maine glamping. “Very cool experience” works for us. Short review. Successful island adventure. 😎 We hope we’ll see you back at 1BSI!

Beautiful spot on a peaceful island. The sunsets from the deck are beautiful! The bed is very comfortable. Bring clothes and food and they provide everything else you need. I do recommend an extra battery-operated fan with extra batteries as the dome can get warm. (There is a fan provided but an extra may be a good idea during the hot months). My dog and I really enjoyed our stay!

Victoria, thank you! We’re so glad you and your dog enjoyed your stay at Hammock Haven. That sunset view from the deck is one of our favorite parts of this little corner of the island, and we’re delighted the bed earned high marks too. Hammock Haven is our version of lakefront glamping in Maine: bring your clothes and food, and we try to take care of most everything else so you can concentrate on the important stuff, like hammocks, sunsets, lake time, and doing remarkably little. And your extra-fan suggestion is a good one. A sunny summer day can definitely warm up a glamping dome, even here on a Maine lake. Thanks for sharing the island with us, and please give your four-legged traveling companion a scratch from the Reset Crew. We hope we’ll see you both back at 1BSI!

Lovely space and lovelier people

Could not have asked for a better way to end our vacation than a visit to this island. For being a sustainable space it does not lack in amenities conducive to comfort, and the setting is pristine. I had particular fondness for the rope swing!!

Amazing getaway!

Our stay at Hemlock Haven, was nothing short of magical. My fiancé, Jess, and I spent three unforgettable nights immersed in nature’s beauty. We loved the peaceful ambiance, especially the crisp fall air and foggy mornings by the lake. The hammocks were a favorite spot for us to relax, read, and craft. As two chefs, we had a blast cooking over the fire and experimenting with the smoky flavors. Each evening, we cozied up to the sounds of the night, even catching a haunting chorus from coyotes (or perhaps wolves?) on one special night. Kent was an amazing and gracious host, sharing stories about the island and lake, offering advice on how to make the most of the island's amenities, and bringing an unmatched sense of humor to brighten our days. Hemlock Haven was the perfect place for us to reconnect with ourselves and each other. We can’t wait to return!

We brought our own motor boat easy to access from public launch. Live locally just brought truck trailer back home. Had our own private dock which was great! Site was clean and completely set up to relax! Even firepit had been prepped w wood! From silverware to fresh water of plenty, to bedding, med kit, bug spray, charged batteries for fan/ lantern. The shared outhouse was very clean as well. The only tweak I would suggest is to have extra toulet paper in holder in bathroom and have much bigger trashcan to put tp in after your done it gets full quickly and no one wants to touch others tp. Also the lid on toilet should stay open while you do your business bc it resting on your back is not ideal. Aside from that this stay was heavenly!! The loons and birds all around you and stunning views all around the island truly amazing! We will definitely be back!
