About the host
Hosted by Hanh
I am a professional living in Southern California. My second home is in Porto, Portugal. I love to travel, SCUBA dive, read, and eat. I joined this community in hopes of discovering new places not ordinarily visited by tourists, making friends with locals and enjoying an immersive experience in the places I visit. I'm also rarely able to travel to Porto so my home can be your home-away-from-home, if you'd like to explore the city for 31+ days.
Why they chose this property
Santo Ildefonso, a charming district in the heart of Porto, Portugal, offers a delightful blend of historical richness and contemporary vibrancy, making it an ideal location for tourists seeking an authentic Portuguese experience. The district is steeped in history, with its roots tracing back to medieval times.
As you meander through its narrow streets, you'll encounter charming squares and hidden gems, creating an immersive experience that transports them back in time. The local market, Mercado do Bolhão, is a must-visit, showcasing the region's fresh produce, crafts, and lively atmosphere.
One of the area's standout features is its proximity to some of Porto's most renowned landmarks. The impressive São Bento Railway Station, adorned with breathtaking azulejo tilework, is just a leisurely stroll away. Additionally, the iconic Clerigos Tower and the Livraria Lello, one of the world's most beautiful bookstores, are within easy reach, providing cultural and architectural treasures for exploration.
Santo Ildefonso is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere, especially along the bustling Rua de Santa Catarina, a shopper's paradise known for its diverse boutiques and traditional Portuguese shops. This lively street also offers a wide array of cafes, restaurants, and pastry shops, allowing visitors to savor the local cuisine and indulge in the famous pastel de nata.
What makes this property unique
The apartment is very spacious and is furnished for medium- to long-term stays. It is 116 square meters (around 1,250 sqft) and has plenty of storage space available. Its location is ideal for those who want to have a feel of a local Portuguese neighborhood and be away from the crowds and noise of the main tourist center of downtown Porto, which is still accessible with a short walk or via the Metro, a 3-minute walk around the corner. I and my co-host will be available via phone and messaging for all of your questions and concerns during your stay.
