Spectacular Cottage Minutes from Town, Trails, and Biking!

Experience all the Bay area has to offer in one location! Secluded, cozy Mill Valley retreat just minutes from Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco! We have updated the cottage a bit, new pictures! The cottage has skylights, wonderful windows that look out to the yard/trees and beautiful design details for an incredible stay. Gas fireplace, large screen TV, Internet, and outdoor shower! Gardens throughout the property, outdoor seating on front deck and private back patio and an easy walk to wonderful town of Mill Valley with unique shops and fantastic restaurants. Miles and miles of of nearby hiking and biking trails on Mount Tamalpais with breathtaking views of San Francisco, Pacific Ocean and Redwoods, including 4 mile hike to Muir Woods and 7 mile hike to Stinson Beach. A scenic 45 - 60 minute drive to Sonoma/Napa Wine Country for a fantastic day excursion or a 20 minute drive into San Francisco, Ghirardelli Square, Museums, Zoo, the Ferry Building and more. It is an outstanding vacation or business travel rental!

We do not have a washer and dryer but very convenient laundromats should you need during your stay. We do provide fresh linens whenever you need!

Note 1: Although the cottage can accommodate 5 people it will be tight for 5 adults. Best suited for 2 Adults and 2-3 children or 4 Adults (but we do allow 5 adults if you are good with someone on a blow-up twin). 1 Queen, 2 Twin Beds, Twin blow up bed available on request. Upstairs floor plan is also available! An additional charge of $20 for a fifth person will be added to your rental payment (for the entire stay not per night).
Note 2: Cottage is at the top of a driveway with an incline some guests considered it to be difficult. Please inquire if you have health issues.

We really enjoyed our stay in Mill Valley. The location was quiet but within walking distance to town. The recently renovated house was perfect for a family of four. The house was clean and neat with nice furnishings and great outdoor space. I highly recommend it!

Beautiful location but important caveats

The cottage was very clean, and nestled in a beautiful valley. It has been noted elsewhere, but the driveway is very steep. In addition, the wood steps to the gate are dangerously slippery when it has been raining. This combination can make loading/unloading luggage treacherous. The hosts were generally friendly and pleasant, but there was a delay in response when we found no key on entering the cottage. We called and texted, but it took several hours for a response.

Great location and perfect cottage for 2 people or a family of 4. Everything you would need is supplied and kitchen is thoughtfully outfitted. The only issue was understanding where to park and how to find the entry in the dark but the hosts responded immediately to a text. Just definitely be aware that the property is at the top of a very steep driveway.

Nice place. However a number of drawbacks. Only one bathroom. Queen bed, not a king. Driveway very steep. We knew this when we booked the home. Nevertheless not ideal.

Hidden Paradise

Our family of four had a wonderful stay! We came to see the redwoods in the many State Parks nearby, and quickly realized Mill Valley should be a State Park of its own. We were a short distance from the charming downtown square (great for coffee, restaurants and shopping). The best part however, is the walk in-between. The historic library has a surrounding redwood forest with footpaths and a river that runs through. The trees are gigantic. If you walk around the neighborhood enough, you'll fall in love with the gardens, foot bridges and waterfalls there in the town's backyard. And yes, we did see Muir Woods and Muir Beach, and more of the surrounding area. All beautiful too– but we were always happiest when we returned home to our quiet little backyard escape. The owners (Dan and Katy) are the best! They were so cool, kind and helpful, with great advice for where to go and what to explore. Can't wait to come back next year!

Elegant and Comfortable

My family and I stayed for 3 nights and 4 days. The home was clean, well organized with all our needs met. The outside area was perfect for morning coffee. The smells and sights were refreshing and rejuvenating. We slept soundly all three nights! It’s a 20 min. walk to town and an even shorter walk to a wonderful park that leads to hiking trails. I would highly recommend.

Wonderful getaway near everything you want

Staying at this delightful cottage was such a peaceful experience. Although it’s sharing a property with the main house, it feels private and secluded. And it’s an easy walk or short drive to all the wonderful amenities of Mill Valley. SF was a quick 20 minutes over the bridge and all in all we had a perfect weekend.

A little slice of heaven!

The Mill Valley area is just amazing. The drive from town up to the cottage sets the stage for a perfect stay. From the little deer who greeted us, to the regal California redwoods in the yard, to the kind owners who offered their driveway while they were away, it was just spectacular. Excellent Mill Valley Location

The size of the cottage is just right for a family of four with two teenagers. The location was perfect for us. We hiked the Dipsea Trail from the cottage and all the way to Stinson Beach, taking the Marine County shuttle on the return trip. We also golfed at the local municipal golf course. Local downtown restaurants are good and parking is easy. The cool weather makes any central air conditioning unnecessary; just open the windows. Some might find it challenging to get up/down the very steep driveway leading to the cottage; it wasn't a big deal for us. We recommend this property!

Redwood hideaway

Gorgeous perfect guesthouse tucked away between California redwoods. Deer came to the stream behind us in the mornings, though it's a suburban lane with several other houses. It was perfect for us and our school-aged kids. One day we visited Muir Woods, and one day over the golden gate to walk around SF. The town had a delicious italian restaurant, ice cream, bakery cafe & creative shops.
