Your own private alpine lodge awaits at this luxe, six-story home just outside downtown Truckee, gorgeously situated among the treetops with a view of the mountains in the distance. Enjoy multiple fireplaces, decks on almost every floor, and even a home billiard room to cap days spent hiking or skiing.

This multi-level, hillside home is tucked into the pines at the end of a tranquil cul-de-sac. Winter or summer, it's a beautiful setting for outdoor recreation and for taking in the stunning scenery of North Lake Tahoe. Historic downtown Truckee is just over six miles west, Donner Lake is 10 miles west, the slopes of Northstar California Resort are 14 miles south, and Kings Beach State Recreation Area on the shores of Lake Tahoe is 19 miles south.

As you enter on the top floor, you'll be greeted by a bench and hooks to help you shed your gear and views of the treetops through a rear wall of glass. The great room awaits half a flight down, bringing the kitchen, dining room, and living room together beneath lofty ceilings of natural wood. Prepare meals using upscale stainless steel appliances (including a French-door fridge, a gas stove, and double ovens), gather for dinner and board games around the dining room table, and relax by the gas fireplace with a movie streaming on TV.

On sparkling summer days, step out onto the multi-story deck to take in the fresh pine air with your morning coffee or evening glass of wine. On winter nights, retreat to the billiard room down on the second floor for games, snacks, and nine-ball tournaments in the warmth of another gas fireplace.

At night, the bedrooms are wonderfully separated for privacy. The primary suite has the third floor to itself, offering a gas fireplace, a bathroom with a jetted tub and shower, and direct access to the deck. There are two bedrooms (one with deck access) on the fourth floor and two more bedrooms on the first floor. A private laundry room and complimentary WiFi are on hand as well.

Good space, some minor nits
The house was really wonderful - it more space than we expected. The layout lists many floors, but the house is more like a split level. That said it's very spacious and its accoutrements are very nice. The house doesn't allow renters to bring in pets, but the house did have evidence of a pet (a cat?) being there, which caused some unanticipated allergy issues.

Beautiful stay, but things you should know
Beautiful property in a quaint neighborhood in Truckee. It is obvious that the owners use the property often, as such the house is stocked with nicer items than would typically be found in a vacation rental. My only complaint is much more of the house is off-limits than typical vacation rentals. Many doors were locked, no access to the garage, pantry. All the audio equipment is behind behind lock and key, so if you were enticed by the surround sound speaker, as advertised in the photos, unfortunately, you will not be able to use any of it. The den has a has a projector with surround sound audio and Blu-ray player, again, none of it accessible. I spoke with Vacasa, the vacation management company, and apparently this denial of access is by owner preference. Other than that, it is a beautiful home in a beautiful neighborhood in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains.

A lovely peaceful sanctuary
The trees and the views. The quiet. The funtastic pool room and bar. A large yet cozy home. Lots of adventures: saw a bald eagle! Went to a hot springs! Gorgeous fall hike
