We had a wonderful weekend away in Chicago, this location made for easy acceess to attractions we wanted to go to. Marian was a great host, provided detailed instructions with pictures for accessing the location and responded quickly to any questions.
Very affordable place to stay, easy to get to and from the downtown area, Dunkin Donuts right across the street (major win), and well stocked with everything to make your stay enjoyable. There is also free street parking at night, which was awesome. The place was quite chilly at night, but they had space heaters to make the place more cozy. Could have used a little bit of cleaning before we arrived. Overall, this is a good place to stay!
This unit was clean, cozy, comfortable and well lit. The space was surprisingly very spacious. I stayed during late summer and it was nice and cool inside the unit. It was stocked with toiletries and kitchen essentials. Check-in was smooth due to the clear directions and clarification given by the host. Host was super accommodating and flexible and provided timely responses. It’s a central location which made getting to attractions and downtown Chicago a breeze. I had no complaints and would surely stay here again!
Host responded quickly and gave clear instructions. Easy parking. Apartment had everything we needed and was clean. Quick essentials were close by like Walgreens, gas station, and a couple of food places. Saw a couple of the neighbors who seemed nice and the place was quiet. It was pretty hot outside but the AC kept the space cool. Price was great. Central location was easy to get everywhere and catch Lyfts from here. No complaints would stay again.

Not Great Not Terrible
The place could’ve used a good cleaning before we arrived. The fans were covered with dust and the bathtub had some dirt/lint in it. There is an AC unit but the exhaust is being pushed out the window in a tube that is too large so the heat just radiates in the apartment. The area is not great and when doing some research can be a dangerous area. It was good for us because we were only there to sleep but if we had spent anymore time in the room it would’ve been uncomfortable.

Basement Rental Unit
I didn’t understand that this rental was the building basement. Access to the unit was available only at the rear of the building. Tried key in 1st fl rear door and it worked but was not rental unit. It was an occupied dwelling. Major security issue!! Didn’t have any guests due to embarrassing basement location. Constant heavy walkers directly above bedroom at night. At times it felt as though we were trying to sleep in a coffin. No coffeemaker in unit.
The pictures are accurate for this listing. It is a basement unit that has been finished nicely. We were there for a sports tournament. I admittedly did not research the neighborhood before hand. We ended up having no issues at all, and never felt unsafe (although the latest we got back and only walked from the car to the unit was about 9:15 pm). Temp was comfortable thanks to the portable AC. Upstairs tenant was loud around 2 AMish every night, wood floors were squeaky. I put a sound machine on loud to try and not get woken up by it and was fine. Toilet did not flush well, owner got back to me very quickly and offered to send maintenance but we had a busy few days due to my daughter’s basketball schedule and decided to just plunge as needed and make it work. The unit has everything you need, the bathroom and kitchen were clean as were the appliances.

Simply joyful yet complex
Unkept grounds in the front and back
No full roll of toilet tissue or replacement roll
Need to be more specific about where lock box is located especially if people are arriving after dark given the insufficient lighting around the premises
Overall cleaning could've been better, couch stains, other people's hair etc
The handle on the sliding door to bedroom is broke
And the paper towel holder in the bathroom was broken (hanging off the wall)
Definitely needed to spray prior to someone staying down there. Saw many bugs/spiders especially behind the couch.
No A/C and it was very humid inside and out side. The small personal wall fans did not keep the area cool. We had to buy a box fan for cooling comfort.
The kitchen and overall floor design was very nice. Location was central to everything and very quite.
I think that's it

Loud and Dark
The unit was very stuffy and there was very little natural light which made me feel enclosed. The place was very dusty. And there were dirty dishes in the cabinet and drawer. The gangway was dark on one end and that was scary. There is a light at the other end of the gangway but it turns on after you walk through the long dark end. And the people above us were stomping up the stairs and on the floors around 2am. Of course that woke us up. And they dropped things very often. And the sofa doesn’t allow 2 full grown adults for sleeping. I guess if one was short it would.
The toilet tissue roll needed to be replaced- we had to buy toilet tissue.
The location had an oppressive feel. And I had to ask for the details on accessing the unit. The owner informed me that she’ll give it later on in the day. I am used to more information given without having to ask. It would have been fine if that detail was pointed out in the listing. Just wanted to know what to expect.
