Luxury Lake Front Lodge on Claytor Lake, VT & RU close

Whether you are coming to the New River Valley to attend a Virginia Tech or Radford University event, or want to relax on Claytor Lake frontage with your private dock, you will love our lake lodge. It is well appointed with fine leather and wood furnishings, high end appliances, high end kitchen needs such as wine glasses, glassware, dishes, pots and pans. Storage is immense in every room of the house. Max number allowed is 4 total in any combination. 2 adults plus 2 children, or 4 adults. House and garage apartment can accommodate up to 6 for an additional charge for garage apartment (send inquiry for quote).
The space:
2 bedrooms with a queen size bed in each. Master has adjustable head bed. Master bath has soaking tub AND large custom shower. Guest bath has shower/tub combo. Plenty of built-in cherry cabinets throughout. Lodge themed house with leather chairs and couch near fireplace, bar stools on open floor plan kitchen. NOTE: We have just added photos of a studio apartment that will accommodate a family of 4 with a king size bed and sleeper sofa. If needed, we can add to your request for a minimal additional rate. Please message me with questions. Lake house next door accommodates up to 8 people if you have a larger family (family member owned). Gate opens to this property. Contact me if interested.

If you need more space or additional space, family member owns house next door. It is another lake front house which has 4 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths, that sleeps 8 plus children.

The Lake House was like something out of a magazine. It was spotless and furnished impeccably. It was fully stocked with everything you would have in your own home. I contacted the host for a few questions and she answered with a quick response. My family was there in May and with the cold temperatures we were unable to participate in any water activities so we sat covered in our cozy blankets while we watched movies on the big screen tv. I highly recommend this fantastic and serene property. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

Amazing Lake home!

Our weekend getaway was perfect! Relaxing and a fantastic reset away from the city but not so far out that you can’t run and get dinner. Robin has covered everything you might need. We will definitely be back!

The home was more than welcoming and thoughtful!! Well stocked and in case you forgot anything it was probably available. We wish we had more time at the property to enjoy the lake! The private driveway is intimidating on arrival but the views are worth it :) I would highly recommend and 100% stay there again!!

Shannon and her guests were wonderful to host. I really didn’t hear a peep out of her during her stay. I’m so glad she found everything she needed and more. The driveway is double lane and has new concrete with ample parking for our guests. The whole private road to the house is paved so it has easy access. And definitely worth the view! Beautiful setting to spend our football weekend. Directions to the house were exact down a country road. The house was meticulously clean and nicely furnished, from the furniture to the higher end fixtures on the sinks and showers. Communication with the owner was very responsive.

We list our lake house as a high end property. We appreciate it when our guests notice details that went into the set up we have lovingly put into the property. In addition we provide amenities our guests can enjoy when time allows such as a cornhole set and firepit area. Carl was the first guests to use the additional space we completed as an efficiency over the garage. We will open that up to guests who need addition sleeping space with a minimal charge. Perfect place for a Virginia Tech football game!

The Lake Front Lodge was very comfortable and had everything you could possibly need for your stay and many extras. We loved sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful evenings on the lake and a beautiful sunset. We also enjoyed the coffee bar in the mornings and grilling out in the evening. Robin and Dale were excellent hosts. As visiting team fans, they told us where to park to easily get to the stadium and back. They also had everything you might have forgotten to bring available to use. We would love to stay here again if we are back in the area.

Dale and Robin are long time residents of the New River Valley. Dale is a business owner of McCoy's Auto Repair. Robin is retired from Virginia Tech after over 38 years of service. Robin is also a graduate of Radford University. Currently, Robin takes care of both long term and short term rental properties that they own.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this property for several reasons: It is close to our permanent residence in Dublin, It is next door to a family member's lake house, it is close to I-81 and the City of Radford, it is a well built and clean property-never smoked in, with upscale furnishings, cabinetry, natural stone and tile work, and sits behind a small island on the lake which cuts down on water traffic. It is a great fishing location with deep waters just off the dock. The sunsets across the lake which often gives breathtaking views during the golden hour.

What makes this property unique

Maintained paved road leads from the main road to out lake house. It is just 3 minutes from I-81 exit 105, 10 minutes from Radford University, 30 minutes to Virginia Tech. The location on Claytor Lake is in a very desirable area near the dam and although it sits on the main lake, there is less boat and other water vessel traffic. The house has a whole house generator in case of power outages. The beds have very comfortable mattresses. The primary bed has an adjustable head feature. Water heater is on-demand--you never run out of hot water in the house.
