Very nice and cozy home, well maintained and clean. The owner was responsive and very helpful and presented the property accurately. I would stay here every time I am in SFO.

Perfect place to stay!
My second grade daughter and I stayed in this great little house for a week in the summer and had a blast! Bernal is a charming quiet neighborhood, right around the corner from family. We walked down to cortland for coffee and breakfast, many choices! Easy to ride the bus and see the city. The kitchen is BIG and the back patio is so charming!

A great place to stay in San Franciso
We loved the house and the quaint neighborhood with great restaurants close by. The house was beautiful and very updated. The private patio was amazing with flowers and sunshine. We enjoyed the nearby hike up Bernal Hill and awesome views of the city. The owner was very attentive to our questions and very helpful. This is our lodging of choice when we stay in San Francisco

It was awesome
We loved this house in Bernal Heights. Teresa was responsive and a great hostess. The property is in easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants in Bernal Heights. And the garage sure came in handy. We had a mini van in it fit it just so.

Warm, Clean and Just Right
We had a wonderful stay with our young daughter in this cozy 2BR. I will always look to stay here in San Francisco. The garden was wonderful in accommodating guests and enjoying a small gathering. The kitchen is very welcoming and the central point in the home. No rental experience is perfect without the responsiveness and quick follow-up of the owner. I give this home in Bernal my highest rating and will look to stay here on every visit.

Enjoyed our stay in Bernal Heights
As others have said, Teresa was a great landlord - very communicative and helpful. My husband and I had a great stay in her house during our Christmas visit to San Francisco. The location was excellent since were we visiting our daughter & family who live in Bernal Heights. It was very convenient to the restaurants and stores on Cortland. We visited the Good Life Market about every other day! The house, although not fancy, was comfortable and met our needs. It was very good to have the garage and not have to search for parking each day. We will definitely stay here again.

Cozy home in a Quiet residential area
Loved staying in this cozy house. My husband, 15 and 12 year old and I stayed here for close to a week. I found the home to be clean and the perfect size. The price per night was very reasonable for the city. We found a great breakfast place and wonderful natural food store within short walking distance. It was very quiet for the city. Even has a cute little back yard for early morning coffee and reading. The best part was it had a garage, albeit small, but you can fit two cars in there tandem! The owner was wonderful to work with. We look forward to our next visit to the city and the use of this home!

So Comfortable
While visiting relatives on "the hill", we needed a place for several of us to call home during our holiday visit. We were so pleased to find a rare two bedroom house which could accomodate all of us. We enjoyed the spacious kitchen with the nice large table and the view of the garden. This house is full of warmth and light and we were very comfortable there. Laundry facilities were a nice bonus. Location was just perfect, close to everything we needed but very quiet. We loved the short stroll to Cortland for coffee and pastries each morning and the ease of getting to grocery stores and public transit. The owner was wonderful to work with, accomodating all our needs.

Great place to stay
There were four of us who enjoyed this lovely 2-bedroom home. As family members who love spending time chatting in a kitchen over morning coffee or evening dessert, this kitchen provided the perfect gathering place for us. It has a big table, skylights, and sliding doors leading to a deck and small backyard. We also had a car and discovered that street parking was hard to find when we traveled to various neighborhoods for dinner. What a convenience to park the car in the garage every night! We enjoyed coming back to this clean and well-maintained home after long days of sightseeing. We would definitely rent this home again for another vacation in San Francisco.

Home away from home.
Our trip to one of the most charming neighborhoods in San Francisco was everything we hoped for and then some. The lovely little house was a wonderful place to stay, clean, bright, and very inviting. We felt like we were at home from the minute we first walked in the door. The little backyard with the cozy deck was a great place to hang out. Our landlady was easy to communicate with and friendly, and the whole experience was just A number one. The only thing we found to be a little iffy was that there were not quite enough plates to serve dinner to our whole family, daughters and grandson. Next trip to San Francisco?? Definitely back at our "home" away from home, in my favorite neighborhood.

Wonderful week in San Fran!
This past week my family and I stayed at this lovely Bernal Heights gem. The house is neat, clean and stylishly decorated. The kitchen (newly remodeled…..NICE) is large and great for cooking!!! We LOVED sitting out on the deck eating breakfast every morning….. the garden has such charm. My boys loved walking to the shops down the road and the ease of getting on the bus to downtown. The garage is the size of the house. We had a lot of “toys” and luggage with us so we needed the space. It was wonderful in that we had plenty of room to put everything we brought with us…… including our cars, a must in San Francisco. The house is lovely…. I enjoyed it thoroughly!!!

Living like the locals
Our family vacation was even more special because of this house, the location, the amazing city and the owner Teresa. We got a true San Francisco experience by staying at this lovely home located in Bernal Heights. Teresa was welcoming and helpful through the whole process. The house is beautifully decorated and very clean. We rented a full size car and were able to park it in the garage and never had to worry about finding street parking. The backyard is cozy and private. The house has everything you need from plates, utensils, pots, pans, towels, soap,detergent....the list goes on and on. This is truly a home away from home. I recommend staying here while in San Francisco if you want to live like the locals and enjoy the comforts of home.
Thank you Teresa

Loved it here, did not want to move!
My friend and I were looking for a nice place to call home for a year and immediately fell in love with this place (after visiting over a dozen other properties); everything paled in comparison. The pictures don't do it justice. From the outside, it may look unassuming but the property is very well-maintained, clean, warm and welcoming. We hosted several parties during our stay and all our guests always had something nice to say about the place. Especially, about the kitchen. It's HUGE and very accommodating (again, the picture doesn't do it justice). We also enjoyed the patio with its purple potato flowers, jasmine, and roses... nice and peaceful. The street dead ends, so there's no traffic and we were able to have many restful nights. Though, Cortland Ave. and its restaurants are just a few blocks away, a really convenient location. If it weren't for my roommate's situation, I would have stayed longer.

Over-priced
Nice, neat small house. Not as luxurious or spacious as photos might suggest. Polyester linens, broken boards on the deck, no bedside tables or reading lamps, cheap incomplete kitchen setup. We stayed for nearly six weeks, so it was quite expensive. Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to scramble for a place at the last minute, and while we were grateful to find this clean, well-located place we felt it was over-priced for what it is, and the landlady was unwilling to give us much of a break. Parking is tough. The garage is extremely narrow and really only fits one car. Steep steps to the front door of the house. The neighborhood is fantastic.

Bernal Heights Home
Our stated thought on arrival was that we had scored!. The recently updated house is charming and cozy but large enough for us and two adult daughters. It has an SF quality and 'neighborhoody' location that we were looking for. Lots of skylights, great looking fireplace, back patio, wood floors, nice kitchen, full bedrooms....no complaints.
Twice, we walked down a couple of blocks to Cortland for breakfast....plenty of food options there (inc Liberty Cafe, Sandbox, Martha and Bros...good food, good vibes). And I wish we had a restaurant on the corner of our own neighborhood like Emmy's, also a short walk away. A bit longer walk or a short drive gets you to an almost unlimited number of interesting cafes, bars, and restaurants in the Mission District...too many to name.
The walk uphill to the top of Bernal Heights Park is a must. Great views of the Mission District, downtown SF, and Marin to the north...Noe Valley, Twin Peaks, and Dolores to the northwest....the Port and East Bay to the east.
We're very happy with the house and neighborhood and hope to be back!

Ready to return!
What a great property in a great location! We thoroughly enjoyed the week spent at this house with our two children (ages 10 & 12), and look forward to returning in the future. Working with the responsive owner was seamless, and photos don’t fully capture the charm of this house or the immediate Bernal Heights neighborhood. We enjoyed each cool morning on the patio with coffee and pastries from the local Sandbox bakery, and wound down after busy sightseeing days with wine and reading – also on the quiet, relaxing patio.
Positives: easy access to major freeways (yet amazingly quiet), large patio with fragrant jasmine, nice-sized rooms with comfortable beds/quality linens, a fully equipped updated kitchen, cable/WiFi, washer/dryer, garage large enough for a full sized car (Ford Taurus), extremely walkable neighborhood with grocery, restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, scenic hilltop park and lots of character. Also, the Muni/Metro train stops down the hill off of Mission, and took just 20 minutes to get to the Embarcadero stop.
Negatives: we had to leave! Also, for us it would have been nice to have twin beds in one room for our kids, but the queen in each room worked fine.

Awesome place, awesome location, a little run down.
I should start out by saying that Teresa the owner is awesome. Very kind and responsive. Everything was set up for us when we arrived.
Also that the location, size, and layout of this house are ideal. Very close to great shops, on a quiet street, with two decent sized bedrooms, a nice porch, and a very sunny kitchen. Comfortable beds too. It even has a garage and washer dryer, which in SF is an amazing bonus.
And the house was very clean, something that matters a lot when you rent from VBRO.
The only thing I'd note is that the actual things inside the house are quite used and run down. The carpets are very old, brown, and stained (but clean, though they don't look it!). The bedsheets and towels are clean, but very worn. Many of the standing lamps have broken switches.
If this kind of thing doesn't matter to you, then I'd say this is your ideal house to rent! We'd certainly come back as we were quite happy in the house, but would like it a little more if a few dollars were spent replacing old fixtures.

Hi Paul,
Thank you so much for the nice review! It was a pleasure hosting you and your family. I wanted to let you know that I appreciate your feedback about some of the items in the home and I have taken your comments to heart. Regarding some of the sheets and towels. I host many families and a lot of them have children. For that reason, I have both new and used sheets for those who may need various items. I update towels and sheets on a regular basis so I assure you there are new sheets and towels in the house on an ongoing basis. A recent batch of new sheets and towels were just added to the lovely linen closet so you will be very pleased on your next visit. The brown khaki rug is fairly new (approximately a year old) which I bought for the living room to help reduce the noticeable markings of foot prints or spills which are inevitable in a rental used with such love and celebration as my house but I assure you that items are replaced as needed. I just shampoo'd all the rugs in the house so all those visiting this Spring and Summer will enjoy. I have removed the lamp that was missing the switch. I did not know that switch was missing so thanks for letting me know! I so appreciate candid feedback and really look forward to having you back to stay on your next visit to San Francisco. All the best Paul! Teresa

nice and cute house in a good SF neighborhood
We had a very pleasant stay in Teresa's place. It's listed as description. The location of Bernal Height is great- very close to shops and good restaurants but also very quite. The place is well equipped with everything and spacious for group of four. The kitchen/ dining area is the best and we spent lots of time hanging out there. We like the little garden at back as well. Teresa is very communicative as well. I would recommend this place for families travel to SF

Great area, wonderful house, attentive owner
My family stayed at Teresa's rental when we were in town for my brother's wedding. The place is very nice and the huge skylights make for wonderful lighting. It was clean and in a great location (less than 5 minute walk to Bernal Heights park). The back yard was full of fragrant flowers and if it were a little less cold we probably would have been out there a lot more. Best of all, it had a garage (parking around there would be difficult). It was a narrow garage but we managed to squeeze in. We had an issue with the bathroom tub drain, and Teresa got someone out to fix it that same day while we were at the wedding. Her prompt service was much appreciated. The house happens to be very close to my brothers place, so I would definitely stay there again. Thanks!

Charming House
We really enjoyed our stay at Teresa's place. It's a charming house with a great location. Especially appreciated the beautiful kitchen and lovely patio surrounded with flowering shrubs. So relaxing! Just a short walk down to Courtland Avenue with a good selection of restaurants and a nice market. Teresa was great to work with, very responsive and accomodating. Would definitely recommend this property and wish to stay there again on our next visit to wonderful San Francisco!

Our Bernal Home
Yes indeed, since we've stayed in the Bonview house before, it truly feels like home. Sparkling clean and tidy, the little house welcomed us right in. We love being in Bernal Heights and we love the Bonview house. Teresa made things very simple and easy too. We love walking down to Cortland and having breakfast at Moonlight Café, or lunch at the Bernal Star (formerly the Liberty Café) or best of all, dinner at my favorite sushi restaurant, Moki. I plan to stay at the Bonview house every time I come to San Francisco. I love it!

Clean, comfortable stay in Bernal Heights
Property was clean and well maintained and the garage was a real plus. Convenient to public transportation as buses were on Cortland and it was a short walk to the BART on Mission. Many restaurants and a food mart were also nearby on Cortland and Mission. Property owner, Teresa, was a pleasure to deal with and the house was well stocked with everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again.
