"High On The River" a quaint cabin resting along the upper Steinhatchee River.
"High On The River" is a peaceful escape along the upper Steinhatchee River. Located down a dead end road in the woods. Across the river is Conservation Land so you will hear lots of birds, crickets, owls, and frogs. If your lucky you may even spot deer, wild boar, bobcats, otter, gators, or manatees. This is a natural "Old Florida" environment complete with critters and bugs. Bug spray is recommended when outdoors during the warmer months. Launch your kayak, paddleboard, or canoe from the floating dock and paddle up-river to Steinhatchee Falls or down-river to the Gulf of Mexico. Plenty of yard space for a trailered boat which can be launched at the Taylor County Boat Ramp only a 10 minute drive. The upper Steinhatchee River is only suitable for small boats such as a kayak, canoe, paddleboard, or small Jon boat. Also, the upper portion of the River is affected by the tides so it can get very shallow and rocky in some spots during low tides.
Master bedroom has split king Tempur-Pedic mattresses with an on-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. Second bedroom has a full size bed, with nearby 2nd bathroom complete with tub/shower combo. Living room is large with a 65" TV, high speed Wifi, sofa, large comfy beanbag chair and recliner. Well equipped kitchen with gas stove, full size refrigerator, microwave & coffee maker. The water heater is an on-demand system, assuring all guests have a nice warm shower after a long day. Large screened in porch facing the river with rocking chairs and sectional sofa. Perfect spot for that afternoon nap. The washer and dryer are also located on the porch.
Gazebo with table for dining out by the river. Fishing pier and cleaning station for your fish and scallops. Charcoal Grill. Property is completely fenced except for portions along the river. Well behaved pets allowed with supervision. A one-dog kennel on-site if needed. You must be able to climb a full flight of stairs as the house is on the second floor. The river bank is a sensitive area so NO climbing, walking, or disrupting the river bank in any way. Access the river by dock only. We hope you enjoy your stay!

This property has it all!!! Beautiful riverfront views and access, perfectly stocked home, comfortable home, river access via a floating dock, able to watch otters and manatees playing in the river, plenty of fish…..the home has character with a pecky cypress wall, and beautiful bird pictures/artwork. The screened in porch was comfortable, spacious and offered beautiful views.

Thank you for the kind words Patricia. We hope you can come again soon.
Fenced yard was a plus. Plenty of room for the dogs to run, play, and explore. House was clean and has about anything you'd want. Might want to hit the grocery store before you get to Steinhatchee. Quiet Quiet Quiet. Great screened out building to "camp out" in. Kayaks for the river. Over all everything thing was great!
Very welcoming, very comfortable Shangri La sanctuary. The back porch is to die for. We ate dinner out there every night. Our dog loved the approximately half acre of fenced in dog heaven. There is a big screen TV and an electric fireplace. We enjoyed the nearby Steinhatchee Falls and our dog fetched in the gulf at nearby Horseshoe Beach while we took sunset photos. We appreciated being able to lock the gate at night although there is no worry about crime in such a heavenly, serene place.
We were looking for somewhere quiet where we could enjoy the water....We would give 10 Stars if we could!! Hands down one of the best , most comfortable and clean vacation homes we have ever stayed at!!! The host attention to detail is amazing right down to the pink salt that we forgot, lol ... We could just go on and on at how pleased we were with our experience and even got out on the river behind the house with the provided kayaks the beautiful plants, the grounds, all the water accesses, We could go on and on but it was just perfect and we didn't want to leave... Already talking about when we can come back!!! Thanks for being such amazing hosts
