Just what we hoped for
When I've stayed on Lopez Island in the past, I've spent considerable time getting to the best views of the island. In this cabin, we were already there... all day long.

What a Gem!
Never have stayed in the San Juan Islands before, we chose this cabin on Lopez Island. What a find. What a gem! The cabin was beautiful as was the view. The Host, Diane and her husband were great. Already looking to return.

Smaller than advertised, not private
Pros- beautiful ocean view and clean. Cons- smaller than advertised. Listed as 900ft2. Living space closer to 700ft2, footprint of house closer to 800ft2. The bedrooms are tiny, the bathroom closet sized. The laundry facilities are actually in the campground across the property, requiring a drive in the car. We are a family of 6 and it was waaay too small. The cottage is on a large property with multiple rentals and a camp ground. It seems to be a large church camp with rentals when camp is not occurring. The cottage is situated in the front yard of an enormous house. There are 2 outdoor bathrooms located steps from the back door. Each day, campers rode bikes to our front yard and passed the house just outside the windows. It did not feel private. Also- my parents had rented another small house on the property which was nearly twice as big, had laundry on site, yet cost the same amount as ours. Overall, beautiful location. But for the price, and with the misrepresented size and lack of privacy, we wouldn’t return.

The Bumstead family purchased this amazing property in 1946 and have enjoyed its beauty for these many years. We moved to Lopez Island permanently in 2020. We love showing and sharing our little slice of Heaven, and have had so many return again and again! Mike and Diane love participating in the Farmers Market each year where we sell hand made wooden ferry boats, sail boats and kayaks along with homemade clam chowder. We love our family which consists of 5 children, 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren! We are sure you will love this property as much as we do!!

Why they chose this property

This vacation rental is located on 33 acres with a wonderful beach, fire ring, and a large fresh water swimming area . Our favorite is the view. Seals on small Island, ferry boats making their journey from island to island. Eagles soaring, and all the sounds of nature. there is nothing to compare!!!

What makes this property unique

There are so many activities here. Hiking, kayaking (we rent them on property) a variety of beaches and areas to visit, biking, and enjoying the quaint Lopez Village with all it has to offer.
