Very good

Karen and Doug were great hosts with a wonderful little retreat for a Nantucket vacation.
The “barn” on their 4 acre property served as the perfect base for all my beach and outdoor activities.
I’ve always loved the island once the seasonal tourists have left and nature and wildlife can be better appreciated.
I’ll look forward to returning to this great spot next year.

Thank you Courtney, and it was a delight to have you stay. You are the model tenant, engaging, respectful and very considerate of our surroundings. You left the cottage in perfectly good order, which is greatly appreciated.
All the best
If you are looking for a peaceful, luxurious way to experience Nantucket, do yourself a favor and book this beautifully appointed cottage nestled in the quiet woods of Quidnet. My husband and I were lucky enough to spend a fall week here, and are already planning our next trip back. My husband had injured his foot and so, we largely stayed on the property—and could not have been happier to do so! The cottage is airy, despite its coziness, with plenty of space for a couple to spread out, and, in our case, work remotely. Every detail is lovely, from the linens to the art to to the coffee maker. But the best amenity might be the 3 sweet pups who came to say hello every so often. 10/10 recommend - a little slice of heaven. Thank you!
Avoid! Host (Karen) accepted booking/full payment & then didn't let me stay. Within an hour of my arrival, Karen demanded I leave (because I asked to have a non-moldy/working ac unit installed, since the existing ac didn't produce cold air & was moldy & the house smelled of mildew). Her husband agreed to install a new ac unit the next day but soon after Karen called to tell me to leave the home & said she'd issue me a full refund. She then came into the home to demand I leave right then (all because I asked her for a non-moldy working ac). I was left at night, without a place to stay. It wasn't my choice to leave, Karen literally came into the home & told me I needed to leave immediately. She eventually issued a 50% refund (not 100% as promised). So to be clear, she didn't just refuse to honor my reservation & leave me without a place to stay for 10 nights at the height of the summer season, she also kept ½ my money. Also, at the time of booking (& through check in-I know this because I showed my husband the listing the day before we arrived), the listing made no mention of dogs. It turns out she has 3 dogs who are allowed to run freely around the rental property. After I told her husband I was scared of dogs (when I met with him to discuss the ac), he told me I'd just have to deal with them (I said ok). She has since updated the ad to mention the 3 dogs but again- the listing I saw when booking made no mention of dogs. Bottom line- don't make the same mistake I made- avoid!

I would re-iterate to avoid this tenant Tara. The only truth offered is that we neglected to mention we have dogs on the property, which I have since rectified. This cottage is a brand new listing, so we overlooked the “dog detail”. All other complaints and criticisms were unfair and unbalanced, as was this tenant, who was the most demanding and abusive person I have had to deal with in the many years I have listed other property rentals. She bordered on hysterical when I suggested she did not seem happy with our property (or dogs). VRBO has a specific policy for cancellations, which she did not meet. I refunded half of my lost rental income to her after speaking with VRBO agents, who also made it clear that I was not obliged to return any portion of my income to the tenant. I hope never to encounter such a negative and unreasonable person on our property again, a place and home we cherish and enjoy sharing with those who are appreciative. We have only a few other reviews, but I would ask that you take a look at those as well, as we have had some lovely and happy renters.
