We traveled as 4 adults - and stayed 2 weeks. Accommodations were as advertised. Manager and Staff - went way above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay. (Including supplying us with fresh coconuts right off the tree in front of our unit. Keep in mind this is NOT a hotel... these are VRBOs so the expectation is that you can figure stuff out and do not have to be waited on. While we were there we did witness a party who did not seem to understand this and expected to be waited on, and to be honest were rude and disrespectful to the staff. They literally treated the staff like there were servants - very embarrassed to be from the US when you see people treating others like that. You do have to take the boat across (5 minutes) to get to San Pedro - the boat has a schedule that you need to follow - but it is free - If you want to go at a different time you need to pay... again as expected. At first we did not think we would like this but after a few days of visiting San Pedro we realized we made a great choice due to the noise and activity in San Pedro. The onsite Coconut Cafe was great - we also enjoyed Massage and private chef one night. Again the Manager Darryl was a great help - he helped arrange taxi's, tours, airplanes, massage, and helped us with places to see and things to do. There are a few people who live there/own their condos and we found them to be very friendly and knowledgeable as well. all in all it was a great trip and we would not hesitate to visit again.
The most important thing to know about the listing is that the description of the location is completely inaccurate.
This unit is not in San Pedro town with a 6 minute walk to the water taxi. The only way to access the property is via boat. There are preset times for the boat across to the property. No one communicated this to us until we were on the water taxi to the island. You can pay the manager for out of schedule trips, but that assumes you can contact him. If you miss the boat, you will be out of luck unless you can make some friends at the dock.
That being said, the location is fantastic. It is quiet, private and relaxing compared to the San Pedro town.
The manager Darren is completely overwhelmed by his current position. He is unresponsive, inattentive and incapable to handle more than a single guest checking in per day. Upon arrival, he blamed the inaccurate location listing on VRBO software. He then rattled off excuses from losing his phone to the wifi being down on the island. In addition, he will try to arrange travel for you with a ridiculous markup (over 50%) for everything from taxis/ferries to excursions.
While critical of the manager, the support staff onsite is fantastic, helpful and completely apologetic of the management. Get the ferry driver's cell number and communicate directly with him to ensure you are waiting on the correct dock (there are two) and let him know you are going. He will make sure you get where you want to go.
