Located about an hour South of Houston, the Bahama Mama offers the ultimate retreat for those seeking to get away from it all to enjoy a spectacular time at the beach. The House has an extended deck with nice views of the ocean, and the inside is very nicely furnished with the vacationing family in mind. The beach is a few steps away and offers endless possibilities for fun regardless of the season. Surfside Beach was recently voted as best Gulf Coast beach town by readers of Gulfscapes magazine. Surside is steeped in history and is home to the famous Fort Velasco, and is the location where the first battle prior to the war for Texas Independence was fought. The house was big and roomy with plenty of space to spread out. Loved that it was so close to the beach with great ocean views and covered parking. The full washer and dryer were really nice as well as the outdoor shower to rinse off before heading inside when you get back from the beach. The neighborhood was very quiet. We were there during a tropical storm and the owner communicated great about power outages and expected times for power to be back on...which was quite quick, by the way. We had a great time.

This was definitely a top tier stay! We are already comparing it against our best ever stays and this one is up there for sure. The location is about as good as it gets, just steps to the beach. The view from the deck is spectacular, and the house is spacious. It’s always so nice to have a washer and dryer on the beach, it was really handy. I did notice small things like the toilet paper holder was broken, but nothing that affected the enjoyment of the stay. Overall it was truly excellent and I would 100% stay again.

Beautiful location, beautiful view, plenty of space for our family, but very dirty. We were uncomfortable using spaces and appliances because the home was not clean. Only one bathroom was usable due to a very unclean shower. The kitchen provided plenty of plates, but ran very short on glassware and silverware. The pots and pans were dirty and unusable. The owner was very responsive prior to our stay, but was unreachable when I tried to contact her at the end of our stay to comment on the lack of cleanliness.

We arrived and unloaded. The first walk in we noticed the floors were dirty. We cleaned the floors and hand washed the dishes to use. Through the stay we noticed a lot of other cleaning issues, but the owner made it right. The beds were comfortable, but one of the extra beds sinks in the middle. There isn’t an ice maker, but there are 3 ice trays. The house is located 2nd row with very easy access to the beach on a dead end road. There is a nice covered deck to enjoy watching the waves and avoid the sun. There is a BBQ pit to grill with a picnic table under the home with ample space to play games. A shower is under as well to shower the sand off of you before going inside. Some of the furniture pictured is different than what is in it now. There is an octagon shaped window in the living room that doesn’t have a curtain on it, but it didn’t bother us. We had a pleasant stay. The weather was nice, the house served its purpose, and the beach water was refreshing. Thank you to the owner for refunding a portion of the cleaning fee. Bring mosquito spray because it’s Texas and there are mosquitoes.

Great stay!

This was a cute beach house with nice views of the beach. King bed was comfortable and even though not used, the full sized bottom bunk was a great idea. Communication with the owners was great and they were very responsive. I would definitely stay again!

The house is perfect for a small family get away! It is a little weathered & a bit older but still in good shape! The walk to the beach was mere minutes over the dunes & easy access. The owners were extremely responsive & very courteous! Bring extra towels & kitchen essentials like seasonings & oil. Also have some extra paper goods & trash bags as well as dish soap. Charcoal grill available, which we used a few times. Overall- perfect for us!
