About this property

Firebrook - a peaceful retreat near Rhinebeck

Our home is perfectly situated for outdoor adventures during the day and cozy evenings by the fire. Perched on a hill, we have spectacular views from almost every room in the house.

There are four bedrooms and three full baths. The master bedroom is set up for kids with twin beds and shelves of games and books; the other three bedrooms have queen sized beds.

The common spaces are ideal for relaxing and entertaining. We have 2 living rooms, one with a wood burning stove for chilly nights or rainy days. A fully-equipped kitchen is perfect for cooking with family and friends and you can easily host 10+ people at the dining room table. On warm days, hang out or eat dinner on the large deck or patio.

We're a 10-20 minute drive to Red Hook, Rhinebeck, Omega Institute, and Bard College, countless other small towns with restaurants, breweries, hikes and antiquing.

Our property is on a hill making for spectacular sledding in winter (sleds provided!) or racing down in other seasons. Walk down to the creek, explore the woods, or sit under a tree and let your mind wander.

In the cooler weather, enjoy indoor and outdoor wood-burning fires. Including an outdoor Solo Stove (designed for easy, smoke-free fires). A big gas grill on the wrap around deck and outdoor seating makes for a perfect evening with friends and family in the warmer weather.

We have indoor and outdoor games for kids and adults, plus sleds for the snow! Feel free to inquire before your stay and we can send you a more detailed list of our outdoor equipment.

Spacious home on secluded property
The home is very spacious, more so than you can tell from the pictures. It is on a very secluded and beautiful property. The kitchen was very well stocked. The house had been cleaned very well. The owners are very responsive and nice. We had a great stay and would definitely book again.

Just Wonderful
An absolutely perfect spot to relax, spend time with friends and family, read a good book (I picked a great one from many the house had to offer), do a puzzle (one was kindly left out for us), cook in the welcoming kitchen or watch a gorgeous sunset off the deck overlooking a nearby farm. I’d like to keep it our secret hideaway but in fairness I must recommend highly!

About the host

Host profile image
We bought this home in 2019 after falling in love with the Hudson Valley. The property is enjoyable in every season. In spring, we cultivate the native plants in our own garden and go for hikes along the Hudson River. In summer, we listen to music at local farms and visit swim beaches. In fall, we pick from the orchards and drink from the breweries. In winter, we sled down the hill of our meadow or go skiing about an hour's drive away and then sit by the fire at the end of the day. The kids enjoy a special kind of freedom at our home, which is far from the road with tons of room to run and play games. We have dogs ourselves and welcome them as guests.

Our family loves to cook and eat together which means the kitchen is fully stocked and there's a big gas grill and a pizza oven.

When we're away, we love hosting guests and sharing our home and favorite places. Although we're new to VRBO, we're experienced hosts with over 35 five-star reviews on Airbnb!!!

Why they chose this property

Our home is country-living. For guests coming from NYC, it's an easy 2.5 hours drive (or Amtrak to Rhinecliff for later arriving guests) and a perfect escape to nature, with tons of space and a lot of privacy. We're a 10 to 15 minute drive to Red Hook and Rhinebeck, with great restaurants, shopping, antiques, breweries, farm stands and more. We are 20 minutes to Bard College and have hosted many visiting families and alumni.

What makes this property unique

Stunning, expansive land with few neighbors and beautiful views. Easy to get to from New York city by car or train. Close to the natural adventures of the Hudson Valley. Lots of room to spread out indoors and out.
