WELCOME: Dear Guest, it is a pleasure to host you on St. Maarten at Flaming Flower Estate. We hope you enjoy your stay, and that Flaming Flower Estate will become your home away from home when visiting St. Maarten.
ABOUT FLAMING FLOWER ESTATE
Flaming Flower and Flamboyant are synonyms and the name of the Estate is taken from the name of the street the property is on. Also called the July Tree the flamboyant tree blooms red, orange, and yellow flowers from July through September. The Property was the family home of the island’s first Harbour Master Dirk Jan Molanus, his wife Alice Molanus Olivacce and their four children from 1964 until 2017. Though having withstood many hurricanes for over 50 years, the structure was not able to stand up to hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017. It was after the destruction of the 2017 hurricanes that Flaming Flower Estate was built maintaining parts of the original structure such as the foundation, rock walls, the cistern, the cellar, and the bedrooms.
The nostalgic Flamboyant Tree that stands in the front yard was planted by the lady of the home Alice Molanus Olivacce in the 1960s. She planted three small trees that grew together as one enormous Flamboyant Tree. The Flamboyant Tree is the national tree of St. Maarten.
