★★MAIN LIVING SPACE ★★
Alagnaq Inn - Two Kitchens by Venturescape Homes is surrounded by beauty and windows throughout the main living space to let the outdoors in. From every window you'll capture the beauty of Alaskan nature. A modern nordic style throughout the home allows for space to declutter your mind and ground yourself.
The main upstairs living space is open to allow for flow between gathering in the sofa and seating area, dining, and kitchen. Above the main living space hangs a NYO ball. NYO Games, previously known as the Native Youth Olympics, includes 10 events based on games past generations of Alaska Native people played as a way to test their hunting and survival skills, increase strength and maintain endurance, agility and the balance of mind and body. As an NYO coach, Annie loves to share Alaskan Native traditions with guests.
Upstairs there is plenty of seating, 8 at the kitchen table and 4 at the bar. No matter if you are making up a quick meal or a feast, you'll find the kitchen to be well appointed with everything necessary.
As an added bonus, the downstairs unit is completely private and contains an additional full kitchen and living space with a TV and blackout shades to enjoy your favorite movie/show any time of day!
★★BEDROOMS★★
Alagnaq Inn - Two Kitchens has 4 bedrooms. A bedroom with a king, a bedroom with a queen, a bedroom with a twin and twin trundle (pull out bed), and the downstairs unit with a bedroom with two queens. Fresh and airy, our sheets you'll soak right into and won't want to get out of bed! The twin bedroom also contains a dedicated workspace, for privacy should you need to get some work done on your trip. Each bedroom contains blackout shades for sleeping in during the bright summer months.
★★BATHROOMS★★
Our upstairs bathroom has a step free entry and rainfall shower head. Refresh yourself with our organic, vegan Public Goods toiletries. Also located in the bathroom a guest washer and dryer for cleaning up after being out in nature.
Our downstairs bathroom is a tub/shower combination and also has a guest washer and dryer.
★★OUTDOORS★★
A propane grill is provided for grilling out on the deck. Please do not move the grill. A fire pit with limited firewood is located out in the yard for guest enjoyment. More firewood can be purchased at the local Safeway grocery store.
★★PARKING★★

★★ABOUT YOUR HOST, ANNIE★★
Annie, the homeowner and designer, has roots that run deep in Seward. Growing up in Seattle, she had a strong desire to move back to Alaska. Being close to water, mountains, and subsistence is in her blood. Seward is completely surrounded by mountains, wildlife, water, and traditional foods. Annie spent her summers hiking, fishing, canning berries and smoking salmon.
Annie and her family are indigenous to Alaska. Her father is Aleut and her mom is Yupik. Tradition and culture are very important. We hope that Alagnaq Inn gives voice to Alaskan natives and you leave this land with honor and appreciation. Alagnaq means "Berry" or "Salmon Berry" in the Alutiiq language. This name was chosen for the abundance of berries in this region.
Annie’s great grandparents raised her grandpa and his siblings in the Jesse Lee Home for displaced children. You can see the former location of the Jesse Lee Home from the Alagnaq Inn front deck. It was located in the large fenced in property across the road.
The stop for the free local summer shuttle (available seasonally) is located just 0.6 miles away at the Seward Visitor's Center (next to Safeway). This shuttle takes you on a loop through town. We're also happy to provide taxi recommendations. The harbor is within walking distance for those looking to get some exercise, but we don't recommend that walk with luggage.
Alagnaq Inn showcases Alaska Native artistry, complemented by literature and cultural pieces, providing an opportunity for guests to both learn and honor the local culture. It pays tribute to the fact that the land we reside on holds deep historical significance for the Alutiiq/Sugpiaq people.
Kindly be aware: The property is situated in a recently developed area within Seward’s newest neighborhood and occasional daytime construction might occur within the vicinity. Property is being developed on East side of home but will not obstruct water view. Construction may occur within the hours of 8am-5pm.
If you are looking for a remote property with acreage away from it all, this is not the property for you. However if you want something convenient to town and all that Seward has to offer, Alagnaq is a great fit. Provided on site for each bedroom is a noise machine, black out curtains, ear plugs, should you wish to sleep off your jet lag or enjoy a long quiet nap.
Navigating to Alagnaq Inn: We are .7 miles from the train depot. Please note: Google and Apple maps sometimes do not take you to the right place. Please refer to the map in our house manual.
