About this property

3BR/1.5BA Woodsy Stone Cottage 1 Hr to Pictured Rocks, Hike Trails On-Property

3BR/1.5BA Stone House near Indian Lake - Close to Indian Lake State Park and Big Springs. Take ORV trails to Big Spring or Manistique. Walk the 30 acres of trails on-property. See deer along the way!

This vintage stone house was built as part of a '40s lake resort cabin. This home is not on the water but is surrounded by 30 acres of private woods to explore. The driveway at the front of the property connects only one other house to County Road 455, so you will feel like you have the woods to yourselves!

Three bedrooms - 2 with queen beds, 1 with double bed - are all spacious and comfortable. 1 full bath is upstairs and 1 half bath is downstairs, for a total of 1 - 1/2 baths.

This home has a 40s vintage resort look and feel, with many of the original fixtures, just a few updates. Many homey touches throughout. Lots of table space and room to relax. If you're picky about modern updates, this is not your place, but if you are open to an authentic U.P. cottage experience, you will love The Stone House.

This old house is NOT suitable for those with allergies or sensitivity to fragrance. Please note that we use Downy and Bounce so our sheets and towels are soft and smell amazing!

Nearby swimming at Indian Lake State Park and Rogers Park on US-2. Also Fayette State Park has a fabulous beach, and you can swim at Garden Corners across from Tylene's Restaurant.

Day trip to see all the U.P.'s best attractions like Big Springs, Fayette Ghost Town, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Tahquamenon Falls, Mackinac Island, Soo Locks, Iron Mountain Iron Mines.

Bring your bikes, kayaks, ORVs, and boats, and enjoy all the outdoor recreation the U.P. has to offer!

Please be sure to follow house rules during your stay: 6 maximum guests, no pets, no events, no smoking indoors. Thank you!

Stone House
Really enjoyed our stay, we had a boat so we went mostly into garden bay on lake Michigan, Indian lake is nice, but you have to be really careful on that lake as there are so many low spots. I wrecked my propeller on the first day, so avoided that, Went kayaking on the lake, the place was very peaceful, and I enjoyed having fires and just relaxing, The house is older, with a certain rustic charm, I thought it was kind of cool, no air conditioning, but the nights were plenty cool, got to see my buddy who lives nearby, so that was a great thing,

I'm a long-time owner/manager for properties, starting with my own B&B in Holly, MI back in the '90s. I owned several vacation rental properties over the years, and now have settled into property management only.

Why they chose this property

I love this house near Indian Lake. It's so authentically Upper Peninsula! The smell of the woods reminds me of summers in the country as a child. So much exploring can be done along the trails and in the woods. Let the kids explore!

What makes this property unique

Unplug, unwind... this is the place for it! No internet, low cell signal - it's not a negative, it's a positive. Get off the grid and really vacation!
