Visiting my Rat
What an amazing place. This property is remarkably spacious. It had a well stocked, full kitchen. The bed was comfy. The location could not be beat. It was less than a 10 minute walk to the VMI parade ground. I would definitely recommend staying here - just watch out for the low hanging fruit tree as you walk around to the entrance.
Delightful space just a block from W&L's campus
Lovely Apartment atop a Victorian House
Our fourth time staying here was just as enjoyable as the first. We love the comfort, decor, and walking distance to downtown Lexington.
Comfortable and very well located.
We've stayed in the loft before, and it never disappoints. It's comfortable and well appointed, very convenient to the historic commercial district and Washington and Lee campus. There's a steep staircase to get to the loft, but it's worth the climb. We'll definitely stay here again.
Nice apartment but an overgrown yard
We arrived at 10:00 pm on a rainy Friday night. There was one light on the porch and a couple of dim solar lights in the front yard. The solar lights in the back yard were not working. We had to go around to the back yard to reach the steps to the third floor. The side & back yard were overgrown and very dark. Thankfully we had the flashlights on our cell phones. We had to make our way through the weeds, bushes and branches and couldn't even see the walk in some places. We couldn't get to the stairs either. My husband broke off some weeds that had grown over the entry to the stairs so we could get through. My husband and son swore it was a haunted house. I had a hard time getting them to go in.
The apartment was great, other than the sea grass carpeting throughout the apartment that made my husband sneeze. This is a roomy apartment with a nice kitchen and bath. It is in a great location if you like to walk downtown to eat or for the ghost walk (I have to admit that I hoped there would be a story about the house on the ghost walk, but there wasn't). The bed was comfortable. My son slept on the sofa. There was also a bunny that played around in the front yard.
In the light of day the next morning, the house was much better, but the yard was still overgrown. I would stay here again, but only if I knew that someone had taken care of the back yard. I was a little worried about snakes.
Elegant and private in lovely neighborhood
When going to visit Washington and Lee, we were looking for a place to spend a couple nights where we could do our own cooking and relax, and came across this gem on VRBO. Set on the third floor of an old home, the house has views of the surrounding neighborhood and old homes(the only caution is that there are stairs to climb so if you have physical limitations, you might not be best suited here.) The apartment has been decorated and outfitted exceptionally well and the small kitchen is perfect for cooking in, though it a little throwback in there is no dishwasher! The location is fabulous for walking downtown to shop or grab a bite to eat and the walk to campus was easy and lovely. Would strongly recommend for 2 or 3 people traveling together for a few days, or as a longer stay if you were looking for a retreat. If my son ends up at W&L, we'll be back for sure!
