About this property
Sleep with the birds, in a cabin aloft in the oaks.
Our inviting cabin, known as the Bird Nest, sits proudly on a lush five-acre property. Inside the cabin is a well-appointed kitchen that has modern tools designed to heighten your culinary adventures: a retro-styled digital Galanz refrigerator/freezer; a French-door digital air fryer/toaster oven combo coffee maker and microwave. You will rest easy on a comfortable queen-size Murphy bed. The full bath is outfitted with a walk-in shower, toilet and sink with a mirrored vanity just outside. A table for two overlooks the deck and pond for when you’d rather connect with nature in air-conditioned comfort.
Step outside onto the upper deck for an outstanding view of the tranquil pond, an attraction to diverse local wildlife that's sure to delight any nature lover. Elegant cranes and blue herons often feed on the bountiful perch and other pond inhabitants. You might even spot deer, rabbits, raptors and many other fascinating creatures in this serene sanctuary.
Anyone who likes to forage will appreciate our seasonal harvests: chanterelle mushrooms, dewberries, blackberries, and huckleberries, all ripe for the picking at different times of the year if you know exactly what to look for.

The covered, ground-level deck provides a half-bath with a toilet and sink setup and plenty of seating areas. Only a few steps away is a charming fire pit/grill along with grill tools and seating. It’s perfect for an old-fashioned weenie or marshmallow roast and s’mores on a starlit night.
Situated on Hwy 43, the cabin is just several hundred yards from a small grocery/gas/deli, seven miles from a full-service grocery store and about a thousand yards from the nearest “dollar store,” and about ten miles from the nearest moonshine distillery. This taste of country living is located conveniently between the lively city of New Orleans and the stunning Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches and casinos, both within a comfortable 45-minute drive.
Beyond offering a delightful stay for travelers, our site could serve as an enchanting event venue for outdoor weddings, receptions, and other get-togethers. A pole barn with finished flooring provides ample space to eat, dance, and be merry. The memories forged here linger long after you return home. Discover the charm of the Bird House Vacation Rentals! Your comfort is our priority.
