Neighborhood Overview The Sunshine House is located in a quiet part of Bayfield, on the south side of town, about a short half mile walk or drive from Bayfield's main commercial district with a wide range of shops, restaurants, galleries, and the ferry landing. The home sits on a huge lot that backs up to woods and a small ravine, offering rare privacy in town.
Property Details The Sunshine House was built in the early 1900s and maintains much of its original charm, including the cozy front porch! The first floor has a dining room, living room with TV (no cable access but able to be used with your streaming accounts), full kitchen, full bath (with a bathtub/shower combo), and a bedroom with a full bed. The second floor is more of a traditional suite-style layout, with the bed and living area in the front half of the space, and the kitchen and bathroom at the back. There are 2 additional beds in this space (one full size, and a twin trundle bed). Note: THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING at Sunshine House, but fans are provided for warmer days.
The front of the house features a lovely covered porch with a swing (you can take in views of the lake from here as well!). The back yard has a picnic table, gas grill, and seating around the in-ground fire pit. You'll especially enjoy the sense of privacy the yard offers, as the back yard backs up to woods and a small ravine, and there are no homes to either side. As an added "feature," there's a wonderful fish market just a block away!
Location & Transit Info Bayfield is a very walkable city, so your best bet is on foot.
Off street parking is available in the parking area next to the house (will fit two cars side-by-side). Plenty of street parking is also available, except during Applefest weekend in October. Less than 10 minute drive to Mt. Ashwabay ski hill, Big Top Chautauqua, hiking trails, beaches, and more.

Our family had a wonderful visit to Bayfield for my niece’s wedding. The Sunshine house was very close to downtown amenities and was everything we needed for a long weekend. Easy to get to and plenty of room for four adults. Thank you Erin!
This is such a cute and cozy place to stay with plenty of space to move around in. The outdoor fire pit was a nice touch. Erin checked in on us making sure that we had everything we needed. And when we locked ourselves out of the house, she came to our rescue. Highly recommended.
We stayed in the sunshine house for applefest for 4 nights. It was great! Very clean, close enough to town that we could walk too! We will definitely be back! Thank you
Could not have been a better overall experience from initial inquiry to booking, from arrival to departure - communication with host was prompt and appropriate. Property clean and nicely appointed. Home close to area attractions, and host recommendations helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in Bayfield.
We enjoyed the privacy of the property and the convenience to the location getting to downtown Bayfield. The backyard was pretty and we enjoyed hearing birds and woodpeckers while sitting at the bonfire.
We appreciated the kind communication. There were also fun games inside- my boys liked the Tetris game ;)
This house is beautifully furnished, has pantry staples in abundance, comfortable beds and comfy bedding, outside space with fire pit, picnic table and grill in a quiet wooded neighborhood. Definitely recommend.
Nice cozy home worked well for our family of four for our long weekend stay. Location was private with plenty of space for easy parking and campfires. It is walkable to downtown but would be all uphill on the way back so we chose to drive. We couldn't see the lake through the trees from the home during our summer stay, but other times of year when there isn't full foliage you could. Our kids loved the front porch swing and hammock in the woods! Overall we were very happy with the Sunshine House!
