About this property

With a deck at the front and back you will always have your choice of sun or shade! The back yard is an oasis at the forest edge with numerous birds visiting the feeders or bathing in the fish pond. Grill your steaks on the BBQ on the back deck with a beer from one of our local breweries. Later enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine from one of our many local wineries on the front deck. The gourmet kitchen is a chef's delight with gas range, granite counters, and bluetooth JBL speakers. The den at the main entrance has a workout area, work desk and piano. All bedrooms have a queen size bed and ample closet space. Rainshower and spray heads in showers with a deep soaker tub in main bath. With easy access to the highway and ferry terminals it is a short 25 minute drive to Duncan or Nanaimo for shopping or to check out the local music events. Nearby ferries can take you to Thetis, Penelekut, Gabriola or Newcastle Islands for a lovely day trip. Explore the Cowichan Trail by starting near the local Dairy Queen and enjoy the easy walking path to Stocking Creek waterfall, the Chinese cemetery and the town of Chemainus. Or simply go 200 meters out the door and explore the numerous trails for all fitness levels suitable for walking or mountain biking. Wander through mossy forest glades, hike to Haslam Creek waterfall and Stocking Lake or go in search of the many carvings tucked away on the paths. Pack a picnic lunch and make a day of it!

Loved our short getaway

Our family (four adults) stayed for just three nights but it was a good, relaxing break. We wanted to stay somewhere that was not too far from the ferry terminal but close to nice trails for dog walks, and we were not disappointed. The accommodations are beautiful and in a quiet neighbourhood but a short drive from a grocery store, etc. A soak in the hot tub was a great way to end of the day.

Annual Girls trip

We are a group of 5 friends who meet up every year for a girls trip for 3 nights . The house we booked with Pat and Ben couldn’t have been more perfect :) !!! A 12 out of 10 :) From the check in to check out and anything in between it couldn’t have gotten more smoothly . Now the space itself , STUNNING !!! We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed the large space and perfect lay-out. Two big outside decks , hot tub, stunning bathrooms (2) with rain shower in main. Kitchen with huge island perfect for making family meals while still socializing. Little office downstairs and exercise room very nice touch We did not want to leave :( 2 min walk behind the house beautiful hiking trails , cafe’s and shopping near by. Thank you Pat and Ben for helping us making great memories and our girls trip PERFECT Angelika, Angelee,Val,Shanda,Kyla

great house and location. Amazing hosts

Family with dog came for a stay and this was absolutely perfect . House has all the essentials and fully stocked kitchen. There is a great hiking / walking trail network just behind the house which was great to stretch the legs . The kids and myself were reading the great book selection . We will stay again when down in ladysmith

Wonderful stay in Ladysmith

Beautiful and clean home with all the amenities. Great kitchen, bright and airy sitting room, lots of space to sit and relax indoors and out. Pat and Ben were very responsive and helpful when we had any questions.

Wedding guest retreat

The property was amazing. But it was the attention to the little things that struck us most. We had to bring our 3 month old puppy. We were provided extra mats for her to play on. We met the owner’s dog and they even played together. Thanks Pat!
