About this property

Tiny home on Nature Sanctuary with access to private lake and hot tub

Welcome to the 23-acre Nature Retreat, Of the Sun Sanctuary, located in idyllic Yellowpoint, Vancouver Island.

Our Tiny Home, The Heron, is totally private, with often only the sounds of birds, frogs, crickets, and sometimes the wind to keep you company. Come for a retreat in solitude, a couple or as a family. Walk the trails, spend time on the dock on the private lake or relax in the softub on the deck just outside the front door.

The space
Enjoy the fully appointed, comfortable Tiny Home, The Heron. Perfect for every season, The Heron comes with a spacious deck looking over the private lake. Inside, you’ll find a living/dining room for lounging and entertaining, equipped with a Smart TV, that streams Amazon Prime and Netflix. There is no cable TV. Wifi is not the strongest.

In the kitchen, is a large gas cooktop, toaster oven, microwave, double sink and everything you need to cook a delicious meal. A small lounge chair/chaise overlooks the kitchen and out over the view of the lake. In-floor heating, as well as a furnace and electric fireplace in the living room keep you warm. The Heron’s design and ceiling fans keep you cool in summer.

The hot water on-demand allows for luxurious baths and showers. A sink and composting toilet complete the bathroom. In one loft is a comfortable queen bed and in the other loft are two twin beds, a portable turntable, records, games & puzzles. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room for extra guests or for those not keen on the loft. There are books and magazines to enjoy on the deck or inside, as weather allows.

This bucolic property has it all: pasture, a young and mature forest, incredible Arbutus trees, wildflower ridges, wetlands and a private lake!

Guest access
The laneway runs through the property and down the hill to the lake. At the bottom of the hill you can back into the driveway.

We live on the property, should any needs arise. NOT SUITABLE FOR PARTIERS! – this is a nature sanctuary and the health of the wildlife residents, humans, horses & nature are paramount. Wildlife is at your doorstep. It’s the perfect place to slow down, ground and breathe.

The Heron is fully fenced off from the horse pastures. Horses can be in a pasture close by or further away, as needed.

Amazing Spot for an Unforgettable Experience!
I’m so happy I found this listing when I was searching for a vacation spot to take my son for our first family vacation together! We have always wanted a Tiny House of our own, and this far exceeded our expectations! It’s in a beautiful location, easy to get around and we had so much fun experiencing tiny house living. Now we know for sure that we want one of our own! We hope to be back one day! Thank you!

Lovely little getaway
Very cute space. Rustic, quiet, unique. Our 3-year-old loved walking the little trail to the pond and trying to find frogs.

Paradise
We only stayed one night but very much wish we'd been able to enjoy this little piece of wild paradise a few more days. Upon arrival, my husband and I immediately went for a canoe trip around the little pond. Encountering beavers, herons and frogs, frogs, frogs (they were quiet at night). I enjoyed spending time with Shasta the medicine horse. The tiny home is lovely, offering a gorgeous deck from which to enjoy the night sky and critters. The interior is well-designed and has everything you need to feel comfortable. I wish I did not live so far away as I would make it a regular retreat destination.
