The cabin sits on a bluff with a fantastic view of the Thornapple River. We loved how close it was to everything, and yet it felt like a retreat. The host couldn’t be more accommodating.

Unfortunate to hear that you did not have a good experience, Douglas. During your stay, you only requested an HDMI cord, which was not needed in the end. We have spent time and care updating our usonian style home but it was built in the 1960s. We understand your concern and please let us know during your stay next time how we can improve your experience.

The view was amazing, but there are not curtains anywhere, not even the bedroom area. It is a studio set up. Very nice finishes, the bed was really comfortable and the area seems safe. Well water only so bring drinking water if that bothers you.

Cool spot, unique and perfect for a weekend get-a-way (we came up for a triathlon in Ada). Location was great for easy access to dining, shopping and a local bike shop (for last-minute repairs). Roads were good and low traffic for shake-out ride & run. Neighborhood was quiet so we could get up early (refreshed & ready) for race day. Poor communication on WIFI which was a PITA, but we got that worked out. We highly recommend and will be back ourselves. Enjoy!

The house was more like a cottage and had a bit of a musty smell as lake houses sometimes do. We opened the screen doors and that eliminated the mustiness. The views were beautiful and as advertised but the house itself was oddly done. It is a studio although there is a partial wall separating the bedroom from the living area. Everything inside was clean and the appliances were top notch. Overall it just wasn’t what we were expecting, but the rooms were clean and there were great views of the river.

Beautiful Place at Home with Natural Surroundings

We absolutely loved staying in this usonian home overlooking the Thornapple River. It was so nice to wake up surrounded by trees and hearing the river flowing down the hillside. The home itself is beautiful and true to the usonian vision of Frank Lloyd Wright. We found the location to be exactly what we were hoping for. Rural enough to feel away from the hustle and bustle and still close to the grocery stores and restaurants when we needed them. Hiking trails and kayaking access were nearby as well. Adam was in touch with us before and during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. I would absolutely recommend.

It is an older, very unique home that comes with some concessions around it, but it was just such a lovely location and absolutely beautiful view. It was like waking up in the forest next to a river without sacrificing the comforts of a house. It was just a short drive into Grand Rapids downtown and the drive was relaxing and scenic.I highly recommend to rent this vrbonif you are a fan of craftsmanship, architecture, and this style.
