The house is in a great location, perfect as a base camp for sight seeing in the area or for attending events in town. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping.
This was one of the nicest vacation rentals I have had. The place is absolutely adorable. The decor and cleanliness of the Nicholas House was very appreciated. It is conveniently located (walking distance) to several restaurants and when I reached out to the host, he contacted me right away.
Property was super clean. Host responded to any questions we had very promptly. Location was great - walkable to so many restaurants, shops, etc. Would definitely book again.
This unit is perfect as far as location goes... absolutely walking distance to all the restaurants, etc. Believe the host ,however when you read about train noise. It is very loud and for me, even with ear plugs, woke me up several times. If you want to be close to all the social venues, this is for you, but bring your own ear phones that do the job!
Cute place in a great area! Our family rented both the Nicholas and the Christian House to be close to family for a funeral. Our unit was super cute, well stocked, and had beautiful design choices. The beds were really comfortable! Great touch with a snack bowl for a welcome. We loved the walkability of cute coffee shops, restaurants, and shops. We loved that our puppy was able to join us on this trip and had a fenced in yard to play in!Only thing worth noting was that we didn’t realize we were so close to a train station and busy street. It was not the end of the world and we appreciate the ear plugs. The pros and comfort far outweighed the noise level at times. Would highly recommend to anyone coming to Hammond!!Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and it is family and Cooper approved!

TRAFFIC vehicles and trains
There were no warnings of the noise level. Bedroom was beside the road with loud traffic and a train about every hour seemed like. No warning on the noise in the description before staying. I knew there would be a problem when we had packages of "ear plugs" on the night stand.

The trains are certainly mentioned in the description. We are so sorry sometimes the entire listing description is not read. The Downtown Hammond Area literally has a train station near the university and the entire area experiences the same level of traffic/noise. We do have ear plugs readily available for our guests that may be light sleepers!
Great place in a great location. Lots to do in downtown Hammond Louisiana. Try and catch the Farmers market on Saturday or explore the downtown area. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. I would stay again and highly recommend.
