Great stay! Super clean and quiet. It was perfect for a trip to get away. Also close to Luray and stores if you need anything. Would come back again especially in summer to enjoy the river more!

We had a really unique and memorable stay! The yurt’s location and grounds were stunning so close to the river. We are avid tent campers so it felt fancy being in a yurt. Being centrally located to Shenandoah made it extra special and easy to visit the local sites. The bathhouse was convenient, and the host was friendly and responsive. The only downsides were the super uncomfortable bed and the showers, which may be difficult if you’re sensitive to sulfur smells. Overall, a beautiful setting and a one-of-a-kind experience! This would’ve been perfect with some upgrades for comfort.
Beautiful property, riverfront, yurt was very cozy. Perfect spring weekend.

Birthday weekend getaway!
We had a great time at the Hummingbird! It was roomy enough for 2 adults and 2 kids (8 and 13). We enjoyed being steps away from the river. The bathhouse was just behind us as well. Super convenient.
Looking forward to our next stay!
Great property on the banks of the river. Dedicated tables, grills and firepits for each yurt. Clean bathhouse. Wish we could have stayed longer. Only thing not perfect was a squeeky bed

Love the yurt!
We had a great time in the Painted Horse yurt. The yurt was very clean and had electricity, a mini fridge, a/c, a deck, picnic table, fire pit, and grill. The bathrooms are very close and also clean. The owner Annette was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. The only downside was that you are close to the road and can hear/see the cars go by, but the lakeside view was worth it.

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay! The Shenandoah River does offer picturesque views similar to a lake setting although I never thought of it this way. Hope to see you again! Thank you for the wonderful compliments.

Anette was so helpful when booking yyis get away for ky family, she gave me great information on nearby attractions and she was extremely sweet during the process. I would definitely visit other properties owned by her.
We truly enjoyed our weekend at the Hummingbird Yurt! We got to the campsite after dark and it was so great not to have to set up a tent! Being so close to the river, my family was able to fish, play, read and relax whenever we wanted, which made for an amazing birthday weekend for my husband! There were other families also camping that weekend and all the kids enjoyed “hunting for ghosts”, although they weren’t able to catch any! We will definitely be returning!
My family and I just got back from our stay at the hummingbird yurt. Given that it was nearly winter, we didn’t do any tubing or get in the water. The yurt was comfortable enough for 4 of us, but I’m glad we didn’t bring the dog too, or we would have been stuffed in there. We were plenty warm, but unfortunately the showers were pretty cold. She did warn about, although the sink trick didn’t work tok well.

Perfect get away. Yurts to get hot during the day, but that's what the river is for!
Well maintained and marketed with honesty about issues like the sulfur smelling water. Beautiful spot. We had a grand time fishing and swimming with the dog.
A beautiful property on the river! We loved the yurt and how cozy it was. All of the provided amenities were fantastic! Close to stores for easy shopping, if required. Very close to some amazing hiking trails. Bathrooms and showers were very clean! Easy to buy firewood on site. Loved our visit and will definitely go back!
We Booked a yurt for stay during my brothers wedding. Location was beautiful. Hearing the river rapids at night was amazing. The mooing cows were an unexpected touch. It accented the 'mountian abiance'. Not sure why but, I didn't expect the "glam" part of "glamping" to be so pronounced. It was a great motif! We wanted the yurt experience to help check off another first time expepirence. And it did that for sure! I believe the decor was lost on two masculine type guys who were used to the roughing it camping and wanted a step up. Over all I give the entire experience a 5 star rating. And, yes I would and will reccomend the site to others!
We enjoyed are stay but felt the fee was expensive for what we received. Hard to get in touch with owner and it seems like the Yurts could use some TLC. Beautiful property.

Cozy and quiet
This was our first time staying in a yurt and we really loved it! Annette has all the necessities - coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave and a crock pot! Perfect for a weekend stay! We plan on coming back in warmer weather, but it was super cozy with the heaters provided. Highly recommend staying in the Hummingbird yurt!

Wonderful Time!
It was a wonderful stay. The Yurt and the bathrooms were nice and clean. It was right on the water. I wish they would have had some cards or games there in the yurt to play. And that fact that it wasn't shaded by the trees did make it a little hot mid day. But still had a great time.

Thank you for taking time to share with others your experience. I will see about adding cards and games to the yurts- this is a good Idea! Thank you! For future guests info -Our Hummingbird yurt sits in full sun which when temp is above 90 degrees - Even tho it has ac unit in window ---when that sun beats down on it during the day it just keeps it warmer inside--my conclusion is - add ac but it's still a yurt - although it does cool down very quickly when the sun goes down as you noticed during your stay to make for comfortable sleeping. As long as you are doing water activities or out and about during the day like you all were - it still makes for a great getaway even in the hot summer!
Thank you for choosing our place for your getaway!

About the host

My roots run deep here in Page County as I come from the Peter Ruffner Family... I feel blessed to have been raised here in Page County and I wish to share the blessing by sharing our place so all can create memories with their families that will last a lifetime.
Why they chose this property
Along with the Rock Tavern Cabin - #1 Rock Tavern River Kamp was part of same property that my Uncle Abe and Aunt Lizzie owned - they operated a tavern and rented campsites for years. I am grateful to get this property back in the family. When I was a young girl - I would fish from this riverbank with my Mom and Dad along with Uncle Abe - we would go dipping and have the best time - I have fond childhood memories here.
What makes this property unique
Our Kamp is of unique character with 12 sites ( 4 of which have yurts for rental). If you have always wanted to go camping but do not want to sleep on the ground....this is for you! Staying in a yurt is quite the experience - one cannot explain - must experience it for yourself- There is just something about 'Vacationing in the Round' words just cannot express.
