Beautifully restored historic cottage-house on the doorstep of Uzes

This very comfortable and elegant village house, with easy and close access to essential shopping facilities, is located in a very attractive region where you will find not only some of the richest historical cities of South of France but also some beautiful golf courses and...very good wine!

The house, which can accommodate 6, is located in the village of Montaren which is a stones' throw (3 km) away from Uzes a city that has been registered 'city of art and history'.
The owners have fully remodeled the house while keeping the original architecture in mind. The combination of antique and contemporary furniture as well as the creativity behind the overall decor that is reflected over the 3 floors inside the house contribute to the unique elegance of the living space. The kitchen/dining area is fully equipped with modern high-end stainless steel appliances and opens up to the interior courtyard with south exposure. The courtyard offers a fully landscaped patio, with adult wading pool,offering sun but also shade for afternoon tea. A large public parking with easy access is located across from the house.

Perfect location! Everything is nearby with easy access.
Fresh croissants and baguettes as well as the newspapers can be found in the village, the nearest supermarket ( Intermarché) les than 5 min. from the house offers a wide range of local, fresh produce. Of course, the very colorful local markets, in St-Quentin-la-Poterie (Fridays) and in Uzes (Saturdays), will make you discover the local and regional specialties.

The location of the village of Montaren in the Gard department is an asset to the house.
History enthousiasts and antique architecture fans will be indulged by the many sites to visit in the neighboring cities: (5 min.) in Uzes, the oldest Duchy of France; (15 min.) le Pont du Gard, roman aqueduct classified as part of the humanity heritage and the third most visited site in France; less tahn 45 min. away, the historical cities of Nîmes, Orange and Avignon; (1hr) Arles, capital of the Camargue...
Within a 60 km radius, fine wine connoisseurs can discover and taste local wines at the various wineries: rosés de Tavel, côtes du Rhone, Pic Saint Loup, Costières de Nîmes, Châteauneufs-du-Pape....
Theatre, Opera and music lovers alike will have a unique opportunity to experience the Choregies in the roman amphitheatre in Orange, in Uzes the Nuits Musicales festival or the world renown Festival d'Avignon as well as the numerous artistic productions in the roman arenas in Nîmes.

Beautiful home in the French countryside

This was a lovely home and offered everything we could want! The local bakery was great in the morning with hot croissants, pizza truck on Thursday nights and amazing restaurant 2 doors down! The house itself was a great location...close enough to everything yet out of the hustle of the city. The kitchen had everything we needed and the 3 bedrooms were all very comfortable. We spent the evenings outside on the patio with a glass of wine. It was lovely! Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

Nous avons passé en famille un excellent séjour dans cette superbe maison ancienne. Décorée avec goût et très bien équipée, elle est un lieu parfait pour la détente au retour d'escapades aux alentours. A proximité d'Uzes, la maison est très bien située pour visiter la région, des Cevennes à la vallée du Rhône et jusqu'en Camargue.

Merci à nos hôtes de nous avoir ouvert les portes de leur belle maison ! Egalement un grand merci à Sandrine pour son accueil et sa réactivité pendant notre séjour sur nos questions! Maison organisée autour du bien être de ses occupants : Cuisine très bien agencée... on peut vraiment cuisiner ! Excellente literie dans toutes les chambres, et toutes les petites choses qui vous rendent la vie facile en vacances ! Nous avons apprécié la table ronde de jardin , nouvelle de mémoire par rapport au descriptif , le salon à l'abri de la chaleur, et les transats et bien sur la piscine.... Le jardin n'est pas très grand mais il est ultra bien organisé et chacun y trouve sa place ! Très agréable séjour à deux pas d’Uzes

Le village de Montaren est très joli et bénéficie de commerces (pain, légumes) accessibles à pied, ce qui est très pratique. Un supermarché est à 3 minutes en voiture et Uzès à 5. De nombreuses balades sont possibles à partir de la maison. La maison a été rénovée avec beaucoup de goût et est très agréable à vivre ; elle est conforme aux photos de l’annonce. Dommage que la situation sur la route départementale génère du bruit. L’accueil est opéré par un prestataire extérieur, les propriétaires sont charmants.

Excellent last minute holiday.

We booked this at the last minute when we realised our 3 adult children could come with us. It was a lovely stay, very clean, stylish and well equipped. The pool was perfect to relax around after our daily cycling trips around the nearby villages. The fact it was heated was perfect as it was still welcome when in the shade late pm. The local restaurant a couple of doors up was delicious- although no official vegetarian menu our 2 veggies were individually and perfectly catered for. Our only request would be for there to be a bbq. It can make meals quick fresh and tasty with local produce and also means the kitchen would not get so warm on an evening. Hope to return.

Magnifique gîte à décoration personnalisée

Gîte dans un bâtiment ancien, typique de la région, avec un porche donnant accès à une superbe cour. Nous avons tout particulièrement apprécié la décoration personnalisée, avec goût, du gîte, conforme aux photos de l'annonce, et l'accueil chaleureux des propriétaires. Le parking en face du gîte permet de facilement ce garer. Pour vos achats, n'hésitez par à passer au centre du village où vous trouverez un petit magasin vendant uniquement des produits locaux et de saison. Enfin, le gîte est central pour vous permettre de faire du canoë dans les gorges de l'Ardèche ou du Gardon, de la rando dans les Cévennes, du shopping à Uzès, visiter Avignon ou Nîmes.

Nous étions deux couples et une personne seule et avons passé un séjour très agréable. La maison est très bien située : commerce de proximité à pied et supermarché à 3mn en voiture. Uzès à moins de 10mn en voiture ! La maison est très grande et très bien rénovée. Les extérieurs sont charmants, le bassin rafraîchissant ! Florence pour l’accueil est très sympathique et disponible. La petite amélioration pour les bretons que nous étions : une table pour déjeuner et dîner à l’extérieur . Merci pour le séjour et à très bientôt !!!

Een prachtige, comfortabele, zeer smaakvol ingerichte woning van alle gemakken voorzien. Wij hebben hier met vier personen een heerlijke week gehad. Het zwembad is niet groot maar voldoet zeer goed om lekker af te koelen. Wij komen hier zeker een keer terug!

We had a lovely week in Montaren exploring the area and have fallen in love with Uzes. We were fortunate enough to book during the summer festival there so enjoyed night time parades, bull chasing (all very humane!) and communal paella and dancing in the street - fabulous!! The house was comfortable except for the soaring temperatures when a small air conditioning unitt would have been a godsend, the fans provided didn’t really provide much relief. The plunge pool was marvelous however, truly refreshing

Luxury escape in wine country!

This place is so beautiful! The home has been decorated with the utmost taste and it feels like a home! All amenities are available and we could tell that the owners loved their place: it is charming, welcoming, clean and very well-maintained. The pool was great, perfect for my wife and I who wanted to cool down but did not need the olympic size pool, the kitchen was a high end modern kitchen with everything and more to cook if we wanted. The location is of course, perfect! We were near the sunflower and lavender fields, in the midst of wine country as well as the magical cities we came to visit. In all we loved it and would highly recommend such a great HOME! Thank you again for letting us enjoy!

My wife and I loved to travel with our three children around the world during the holiday period. However, when our first grandchild was announced we thought that organizing such long trips would become more difficult and we looked for a sunny place (we are Belgian) where we could host the entire family during the summer holidays. By luck we found the 'mas'/house next door which met our criteria. Indeed, it is located in a village, it is big enough and has a nice swimming pool, it is close to an airport or a railway station ( easy commute to Brussels where I was working), it is located in a cultural active and attractive region, it is not too far away from quality medical support.
Today, for more than 12 years, we are spending about 5 months a year in Montaren and we still enjoy it tremendeously!

Why they chose this property

We bought the house we let - 16 Route d'Uzes - because, by doing so, we 'reassembled' the 'mas'/house, as it was at the origin.

What makes this property unique

The house is a very comfortable place, in a sunny region where there is always something to see, to do and...to taste.
