Place was as advertised. Was a. Extremely tall and steep hill getting to the top. Was nervous trying to get to the top with a truck and 8,000 pound trailer behind. Very small landing pad to turn around but was able to make it work. The place was as advertised. Only improvements would be to add WiFi as there is absolutely no service
The place was secluded and just there right size for two! Clean and a little quirky. The shower was accessible from a very narrow space, so not the best for large adults. We really enjoyed it and the lack of WiFi was not an issue for us at all. I would definitely stay there again.
Secluded just as advertised. Our Golden retriever was very happy with the outside grounds. Site close to multiple hiking trails. Quite and relaxing evenings. Only negatives was someone's leftover pancakes and dirty oven pan was left in oven, and the outside grill was decrepit and filthy.
A hazardous place. No smoke alarms, no co2 alarms, even though it has a propane heater and hot water tank. The electrical wiring in this place is beyond scarey. No outlet covers and even those that do the cut out around it is too big for the cover to cover. Fuse panel in the "bedroom" no cover on it and it's only about 2 1/2' from the ground, toddler level. And now to fix that problem there is a Christmas tree in front of it. Bring lots of deet cause the ticks are not only outside but inside as well. Don't be too tall or too thick cause you will not fit into the hall to get into the tub/shower it's a 12" opening and God forbid you fall if you get into the tub as someone will have to find your body as there is no cell service there, and even if you are with someone they will have to drive at least 10 mins to get you help and then the fire company will have to take down a wall to get to you. Ahh the outlets, gfci's are not where they ought to be ,within a water source and then outside there are interior outlets with no cover caulked to death ,I guess to kinda make it "safe" . There is a 30' drop to the one side of this establishment, no fence, there was at one time but no longer, and no warning about said drop off, kids and dogs are questionable as to the survival if they fall. The "gazebo " nothing more than a accident waiting to happen. Dry rotted wood abound. As well as the entry into the "cabin". I am not the only one that was duped. Excellent stay in the RRG area. Cabin is secluded on the top of a mountain. The only complaint I would have is getting to the actual shower you have to squeeze between the shower and a wall to get there.
The place was very relaxing. Loved not having wifi or phone service. It was nice not having all the phone calls and distractions. The property was beautiful and definitely secluded. We can’t wait to come back. The only thing I wish was different was the walkway in the bathroom to get to the shower. It was very narrow. Other than that it was perfect.
This place is very secluded. Nothing fancy, but everything thar we needed. The only thing I wasn't prepared for is the very tiny area to get t9 the shower. We are average sized people, larger people would not have been able to get to the shower. The rental itself was very clean, had pans and utensils, coffe and coffee maker.
We would stay here again if alone.
I was in the area to do some weekend prior to attending a work conference. I needed a place to rest between trips and this property offered the basics that I was looking for (bed, shower, toilet, & kitchen). If you’re looking for the basics while in the area, this is a great spot to stay, It’s definitely nothing fancy but served me well and I enjoyed my time here. The property is secluded on the top of the hill without any direct neighbors nearby. I also did not have cell reception or internet at the property, which allowed me to disconnect. Finally, its location is in a great spot if you’re visiting the Red River Gorge. Most things are within a 10-20 minute drive from the property.
The area was a little sketchy the room had multiple it appeared to be ladybugs all over the place
The place was quite a bit rundown that mean a gross facelift. There were multiple ladybugs all over the inside of the rooms. Other than that it was fine. The area was a little sketchy.
The building is a barn turned into an AirB&B. It’s very basic and rustic but also clean and comfortable. It is very private and the view is very pretty behind the cabin.
The only negative that some might have is that the entrance into the bathtub/shower is very, very narrow. My husband and I are smaller built so we were able to step into the shower but a larger person might have an issue with gaining access into the shower. Other than that, it was a very comfortable cabin/barn to stay in.
Exactly as advertised. Exactly what I was hoping for. No cell phone service which is great. Cabin is great for 2 people + a small child at best. As other reviews have said, if you’re a large person, you’re not fitting through the opening to get to the shower. It was not problematic for me. Owner was easy to get a hold of, quick to respond each time, and I was able to add a day to the stay with no problems.
We stayed for 4 nights while we had a wedding to attend in the area. Absolutely loved the property, the location, and the area. Our kids stayed in town with their cousins for half the stay, and id say the property was more perfect for just me and my honey, but when our kids were there we didnt feel cramped. Our kids are 9 and 11, but if they had been 14 and 16 idk that i could say the same about space.
There is zero reception at the cabin, which i preferred even if the kids thought they might die 😂 between that, the location, the house itself, and its quaint and cute interior....it felt like we were in the heart of Kentucky ❤️ I will 100% stay again the next time we visit Red River Gorge.
It was a great stay with family. There's absolutely no service/wi-fi, but I loved it. You're alone at the top of the hill, with not a soul in sight, but you're less than a 15 minute drive from general stores and some stunning views. There's A/C, fans, and heaters. The host was very thoughtfulI only had a few cons, none of which would stop me from renting again. - It was a tight squeeze to get into the shower. Even my 4 year old had to turn to the side to squeeze through the passage.-There were quite a few ticks inside the cabin, but I imagine that was just the season.- The gazebo was not structurally sound. I love the concept, but the boards weren't safe to walk on and the railing was not secure. I would love to see it fixed up.
We loved our stay here as a preparation for our RRG backpacking trip. We arrived on a really hot day but the hosts left an AC unit and fan on to make sure it would be comfortable. Everything was as listed except there wasn't a DVD player. Sounds silly, but we were actually looking forward to using it and even brought a DVD to watch. There was also a K-cup machine but no K-cups were available. Besides these two things, everything was clean and worked as expected. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were good quality.
The property was not kept up at all for any kind of use to be enjoyed! The bathtub was almost impossible to get into and no place o hang used towels! Electrical outlets and ceiling lights were almost a fire hazard! 2 nails were protruding thru the front door into the inside on which my husband got injured by one on his arm and another was head high and dangerous to humans! Sorry but we can't recommend the cabin to anyone of our friends!
Okay I'm going to start off by saying we enjoyed our stay, and liked the property, BUT there are a couple things people need to know about this rental.
1. Zero wifi, like not hit or miss. Zero, none, ziltch. Nada a bit of signal. We even brought a hot spot and no go. So if you have to be connected it's a 10 min. trip back into town where the connection is still spotty.
2. This cabin is not friendly to larger people. The photos don't really show you just how inaccessible the shower is. If you're a large person or a person with limited mobility you wont be using the shower here. There is literally a 2 foot opening to get into the shower. I'm of average size and had to suck it in to access it.
Outside of that I love the place. I enjoyed not being connected, I enjoyed being far away from people. We didn't hear a single man made sound while at the cabin. It was truely great. But the listing didn't really go into much detail about the internet, and was no mention of the shower being hard to access. So people need to know before planning there trip.
