Oak Cottage in Sutton Knob

Welcome to Oak Cottage, a private, pet-friendly Sutton Knob custom home, with features your entire group will love! Begin your vacation the moment you start to drive up the mountain, and enjoy beautiful far reaching peak-a-boo vistas around every turn. Located only 10 minutes from the entrance to Pisgah National Forest, this high-end home has a gravel driveway with ample parking space and a garage. The main entrance of the home is accessible by 2 steps. The entryway opens into the great room with tongue-and-groove ceilings, big windows for tons of natural light and big mountain views, a wood-burning fireplace, plenty of comfortable seating, a TV, and unique rustic touches. A half bath is located just off the entryway. The dining area is off the living room and has a table with spaces for 6. The thoughtfully equipped kitchen is complete with stainless steel appliances, a standard coffee pot, a Keurig, and all the dishes, pots, and pans guests will need to create meals for their group.

The primary bedroom in Oak Cottage is located off the great room and is complete with a King-sized bed and a second TV. The ensuite primary bathroom is home to dual sinks, a luxurious soaking tub, and a custom-tiled shower. Bedroom 2 boasts 2 Queen-sized beds and another ensuite bathroom with a single sink and large tiled shower.

Oak Cottage guests can soak up the outdoors, without even leaving! The massive mountain views are visible from almost every room in the house! Enjoy morning coffee or tea from the cozy screened-in porch, while soaking up the views. Or cookout with the gas grill and enjoy the evening breeze. As guests of the Sutton Knob community, Oak Cottage guests enjoy shared access to the green space within the community, which showcases the natural beauty Transylvania County offers. Scenic hiking trails within the development allow guests the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the outdoor experience and enjoy the views of the nearby Pisgah National Forest. The Meadows boasts two ponds, streams, and small waterfalls. The community pavilion and firepit are also available to guests of the Chestnut Cottage!

Amazing place!

The home was beautiful! Loved the screened in porch with a view of the mountains. Very convenient to town as well as the Pisgah Forest. Will definitely stay there again!

This is a beautiful, well maintained house with amazing views of the mountains. Comfortable beds, large bathrooms, well stocked kitchen. Loved being able to build a fire in the fireplace each night. Little bit of a drive to Brevard but the views are worth it.

Although the house was generally very clean, the shades and windows sills had a lot of dust on them to note for the cleaning staff. The mountain views this time of year from this house were spectacular. Sorry to see the house across the street burned down this Spring and now is being rebuilt. Regards, Reece Bridges

Get rid of direct tv

We really enjoyed our stay. One recommendation is to either purchase TV’s that have smart apps built in (Netflix, Amazon, etc) or a Roku stick. The Direct TV provided at the Oak Cottage had a 1000 channels but we couldn’t access the majority of them and it was a pain scrolling through all of unuseable channels to find on that we actually could watch. Would be much better if we could just log on to our streaming accounts.

I have stayed in number of rentals and this was by the cleanest rental I have ever stayed in. I loved the large screened in porch to watch the sun rise / set over of the blue ridge mountains and the house itself was very comfortable. There is a house being built right next door, so there was quite a bit of noise on day one. They worked on the other side of the house the next few days so noise was at a minimum. The framing was almost does when we stayed there. One annoyance was the rental company gave my cell phone to a third party and I received multiple texts about real estate properties for sale in the area, really, who does this?

Amazing home and views!

This is the third time we have stayed in Sutton Knob within the last 5 years- always either Oak Cottage or Maple Cottage. The homes are so beautiful and well laid out, furniture is cozy, and amenities are great. The views from these two cottages are AMAZING- and we spent hours in the screened porch which was delightful. It is also such a great feature to have a garage that is available to use, and for the homes to be dog friendly. There are so many great trails and restaurants nearby that we love to visit each time we come. The service with White Squirrel is also very personable, friendly, and timely. We could not ask for a more perfect combination for vacation, and this is why we will continue to book here for many years to come!

Our stay was amazing.

Our stay was amazing. The home was beautiful and clean. We had amazing views and enjoyed daily hikes. The beds were comfortable and we felt right at home. We will definitely stay again! The screen porch overlooking the view was our most used area. We loved all the windows allowing us to enjoy a Mountain View from almost every room. Everything was smooth and easy, from booking to check out. When we did have an issue with a door that wouldn’t close, we contacted the team and someone was out within an hour to repair it. Everyone was fast and friendly.

Loved this place!

We had a great time at Oak Cottage! The location was perfect, so easy to get in and out. The home is on a nice flat culdesac road, great for walking our dog. The view was incredible. The service was great. White Squirrel was on top of things. Although we typically like to rent a different cabin every time we go to the mountains, this one was so nice and convenient that we would rent this one again in the future! Our only suggestions to make it even better: -Get smart TV's. We were not able to stream on the TV's. Both TV's are equipped with Direct TV, though. -Add some extra blankets. We only had blankets for the beds. We could have used some blankets for the living room. -The water pressure in the kitchen sink is poor and makes it tough to clean anything in the sink. A new faucet with a high pressure button would help. However, we were very happy that Oak Cottage has a garbage disposal, as most mountain cabins we have rented do not have one.
