Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Check-in, communication
The place was nice and clean and very walkable. The host was not responsive and told me that they didn’t have my contact info- I’m not sure how this can happen but I had to call VRBO twice. The host contact name and phone number are also not listed- the number listed to call is VRBO number.
The listing did not make it clear this is a second floor unit. My husband is 90 and I am 71. It was a hardship for us. I feel cheated and mislead about this unit. My husband fell and I spent Saturday morning in the ER with him. I almost fell down the stairs myself. I cannot overstate how upset I am about this unit. The best thing about it is that is was very clean.
There was not enough lighting in the kitchen. No table lamps in the living room. The couch was a torture device. There is no comfortable seating at all for TV viewing. Extension cords upon extension cords pose a safety hazard. Many of the plugs in the unit did not work. There was only one hair dryer for two bathrooms.
I passed over other properties that were better, but stairs were involved. If the listing for this one mentioned the stairs neither I nor my friends have seen it yet.
I could not recommend this property until some routine maintenance is done and the listing is more forthcoming. I definitely would not recommend it for the elderly. The stairs should be very clear with photographs.
The host never responded and my reservation had to be cancelled at last minute. This reservation was made months in advance as my wife and I are in a parading organization and it's at the height of Mardi Gras season and places book fast. By some miracle, The Admiral had a room become available so we were saved. Vrbo did refund me my money and are nearly covering all of my charges at The Admiral.
