About the host
Hosted by Erin Becker
I was born and raised in Harrisburg, PA, but these days I live in Chattanooga, TN — or I’m off traveling somewhere new! Travel has always been a big part of my life, and when I’m not on the road, you can usually find me rock climbing, hiking, or spending time with my dog.
I became a host because I know firsthand how much a welcoming, comfortable space (along with a few thoughtful touches and local tips) can add to a trip. I currently manage two vacation rentals, and both are in places that mean a lot to me personally. That’s part of what makes hosting special for me — I’m not just opening the doors to a house, I’m sharing a little piece of my own story.
The Pennsylvania house is especially close to my heart. It’s been in my family for four generations, and I grew up visiting it throughout my life. Being able to welcome guests there — whether they’re reconnecting with nearby family, attending local events, or just looking for a peaceful escape — is a joy.
One of the unexpected pleasures of hosting has been building connections with local businesses, restaurants, and event venues as I gather recommendations for guests. I love passing those tips along, and I’ve even discovered new things to enjoy with my own family when I’m back in the area.
For me, hosting is more than just providing a place to stay — it’s about helping guests feel at home, experience the local flavor, and create lasting memories.

Why they chose this property
This home wasn’t so much a neighborhood I chose — it chose me. It was my grandparents’ house, the place where my dad grew up, and later became a home I was gifted. When my parents and I decided to keep it rather than sell, it was because of the peaceful location and all the family memories tied to it.
Turning it into a vacation rental felt like the best way to keep the house alive and cared for, while also sharing it with others. Hosting has allowed me to reinvest in the property, from new furniture to larger upgrades like windows and even a bathroom remodel. Guests who return often notice how the house changes a little with each stay.
What I love most is that visitors appreciate many of the same qualities my family has always loved here — the quiet setting, the wildlife passing through the yard, and the chance to slow down and breathe. It’s both nostalgic for me and refreshing to see others find comfort in this space and neighborhood too.

What makes this property unique
What makes this property unique is the combination of its history, setting, and thoughtful touches. This house has been in my family for four generations — originally my grandmother’s home — so it carries a sense of warmth and nostalgia you won’t find in a typical rental. The style is eclectic, with a mixture of modern updates and vintage pieces, plus seasonal decorations and little details that make it feel inviting and lived-in.
The location adds to its charm. While it’s not isolated, the property feels tucked away and peaceful, with woods just behind the house, a creek you can hear when you step outside, and frequent visits from deer and turkeys. Guests love relaxing on the large front porch, watching wildlife, or gathering in the dining room for games and meals.
It’s also a space designed for both families and pets. Kids have toys and games waiting, pets get bowls and treats, and there’s plenty of room for groups — up to 10 guests. Even with all that space, it still feels cozy and comfortable, with reliable WiFi for modern convenience.
To me, what makes this home special is that it balances peaceful country living with easy access to grocery stores, restaurants, and attractions just minutes away. It’s a true retreat — one where you can enjoy the quiet of the woods without being far from anything you need.
