About the host

Host profile image
I grew up in a traditional Asian family, in which my life was mapped out before I was born. This was conflicted with the fact that I had a stubborn soul that wanted to see and navigate the world the way I saw fit. In other words, I was the Black Sheep. This cabin is an ode to all people that paved their own path fueled by the limitless desire to define their own world. People that can see a perfectly good house and paint it black. It would be mine and my wife Tiffany's humbled honor to be your host with The Black Sheep cabin.

Why they chose this property

The Black Sheep is located in Forestville, a small town right next to the Russian River and near dozens of award wining wineries. On a weekend retreat, you can find yourself floating in the river, driving down miles of scenic roads littered with wineries, or eating at Michelin star restaurants. Take a drive to the coast and stop by the quaint town of Duncans Mills before you hit Cafe Aquatica, where you can get a Cup of Joe while taking in the view of where river meets ocean. However, you can also find a great retreat never leaving the cabin itself. We have fond memories watching our favorite movies or fine tuning our Mario Kart skills on the 12 ft. movie screen. For those that choose to unplug, choose a book from our library and take a seat on our heated patio while watching the squirrels jump from tree to tree. The best experiences of them all are the ones shared with conversation while eating a meal cooked that collectively came together by the contributions of all your loved ones. We believe that there is something here for everyone and we want to make your experience as perfect as possible, so don't hesitate to reach out for recommendations and suggestions.

What makes this property unique

When we came upon the privilege to create The Black Sheep, we initially struggled as we tried to imagine a place that the majority would like. However, when you think of the majority, your decisions become ones that are 'safe'. In design, this equates to another boring cabin whose only attractions are the natural beauty outside of the cabin. We decided that we wanted the cabin to be as much an attraction as that of the location. We decided to remove 'safe' out of the picture and decided to create something bold, mysterious, and inspiring. As artists, we are accustomed to making our surroundings larger than life and we decided to take the same approach with The Black Sheep. We are humbly honored to share this with you, your family, and friends.
