Experience a piece of history when you call Old Chestnut Cabin your home away from home! This historic log cabin boasts the best of both worlds; modern convenience, and old-school charm. Originally located in Tennessee, the cabin was moved to Lake Junaluska in 1977. For a fun-filled history lesson, see the tags on the logs that helped aid the reassembly process.

Access to the cabin from the street is up a hill via three dozen stone stairs. Also, the interior stairs between the two floors are very steep and the steps are shallow.

Outdoor adventure is abundant near your stay! Less than a mile away, discover the gleaming shoreline of Lake Junaluska. Blue Ridge Parkway, Flat Laurel Creek Trail, and the Black Balsam Knob are also minutes away. 23 miles up the road, you'll find the Cataloochee Ski Area, and you're also in a convenient location near the Great Smoky Mountains, Asheville, and Cherokee.

Inside, rustic charm prevails! Sit and sip on cups of hot cocoa in front of the stone fireplace. Whip up delicious dishes in the updated, full kitchen. Completely relax and practice some self-care in the bubbling warmth of the clawfoot tub. Rest peacefully each evening as you tuck under the soft linens in the bedrooms.

Additional interior perks include partial air-conditioning, a private washer/dryer, and internet access.

Due to the age of the house, while there is central AC there are not vents upstairs. Luckily we get some great mountain breezes and the AC downstairs helps cool the house.

10/10 Excellent

Samantha M.

Cozy charm!
Our experience at Old Chestnut was absolutely wonderful! The cabin has so much character, and we immediately felt right at home upon entering. Our dogs felt right at home, too! The beds were comfy, the porches were the perfect hangout spots, and the kitchen amenities accommodated our daily breakfast routines. Even with neighboring houses close by, it didn’t take away from being able to enjoy all that nature had to offer up on the tree filled hill upon which the home rests. The Corneille Bryan Native Garden is a short walk down the street, and was utterly delightful. We had a much needed relaxing weekend, and all guests agreed that we will be coming back in the future!
