The cabin is located at 3740 ft elevation in the private community of Alarka Highlands. With each foot of elevation you climb, you will feel the stress being left behind.
You can enjoy the great outdoors from the privacy and comfort of this beautiful log cabin. Enjoy taking in the surrounding mountain views while soaking in the hot tub, watching the sun set over the mountains, or sit by the stone fire pit and roast marshmallows for your smores. Enjoy the clear mountain air from the wrap around porch, or the serenity of one of the 2 private bedroom balconies. If you like to grill out, the cabin is equipped with a grill on the covered porch for your enjoyment. In the evening, get cozy in the living room by the beautiful stone fireplace.
Downstairs features a comfortable open floor plan, so all guests can interact from the kitchen, dining area or living room. The first main level bedroom is off of the main living area and features a queen sized bed. Across the hall, the master bath has a walk-in shower and a jetted tub for 2. Just up the stairs , the cozy loft offers views of the surrounding mountains and a twin over full bunk bed. The second bedroom is also upstairs with a queen size bed and walk-in shower in the en suite bathroom. Both bedrooms feature private balconies.
For the comfort of our guests, there are also additional amenities such as HDTV with Direct TV, DVD player, televisions in both bedrooms, and internet access. Outdoor adventure is at your doorstep. The private nature of the Alarka Highlands community allows for nice hikes and views throughout.

Once you enter the gate at Alarka Highlands, it will take you approximately 10 -15 minutes to reach the cabin as you climb higher in elevation. The main roads into the community, while paved the majority of the way, are steep and curvy. The secondary roads and driveways in Alarka Highlands are gravel. After your first trip up, you will be a seasoned pro at mountain driving. All-wheel or 4-wheel drive is strongly recommended during the winter months.

This place is absolutely special. Beautiful views, great hot tub, and very elegant. This was the perfect get away for my wife and I. Great communication from host and will definitely be booking again in the future. We fell in love with the serenity and peace that this cabin has.
Absolutely amazing and the owners made sure everthing was perfect by checking in. Top notch service and we will absolutely be back. Views are the best I've seen in North Carolina!

The cabin was cozy, but with plenty of room for our party of four. A new cabin, very clean, everything worked, one of the best places we have ever stayed. The view was outstanding! Like most of the other reviews, it is a long way from a town up a long winding road that is part gravel, but that is also part of its charm. Not remote, there are other cabins along the road. But you definitely do not want to arrive after dark. Hot tub was enjoyed by all. Kitchen very well equipped.
This is an absolutely beautiful cabin! The decor, furniture, kitchen accessories, towels, etc. were all first class! This cabin has everything you need to make your stay comfortable and cozy! Every little detail has been considered. The host was outstanding and very quick to respond to any questions we had. The only comment we would make for others is to understand that this property is at the top of a mountain and getting there requires travel up a steep road that has sections of both paved and gravel road. Some of the gravel sections have large gravel. It's also not a quick trip to town so do your grocery shopping before heading up to the cabin. It's about 30 min of slow driving up and down the mountain but it's a beautiful drive and part of the adventure! Highly recommend this property!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Blue Sky cabin! Excellent amenities, majestic views, and that “home away from home” feel. Thank you for sharing this beautiful cabin!

Thank you Andrew! I am so pleased that you and your family had a great time at our cabin. We would love to have you return anytime. ~Michelle
The cabin was even better than the pictures. The host thought of everything! There were instructions for every appliance, a bundle of wood for the fire pit, coffee for the two coffee machines and a s’mores kit for the kids . The house was even fully decorated for Christmas and spotless. The host was very nice, helpful and available to assist with driving directions and make restaurant suggestions. The trip was even better than anticipated and this was the best VRBO we ever stayed in. We would not hesitate to return and would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a mountain vacation.
Blue Sky cabin was amazing! It has all the essentials and comforts of home, plus so much more! My family had a wonderful experience. The cabin is very spacious. Everything you need is at your fingertips. The cabin was spotless. And let's not forget the awesome hot tub, fire pit area and that VIEW!! We would definitely stay here again. And would recommend it to friends and family!

This cabin was such a find! It sits nearly on top of a mountain and the views are spectacular! It was so nice to have coffee on the deck and take in the views. Our little family had a great time. The cabin was also well stocked with all the things we needed to be comfortable. All around great and would definitely go back!

We go to Bryson City every fall and this is by far our favorite cabin. It has a gorgeous view, great property, and well-appointed house. The cabin was incredibly clean and a great set up for two couples. It had many amenities and everything we needed for a long weekend. We can’t wait to come back!

Nice place to rest and relax. Ample room for a family of 5. A bit off the beaten path so make sure you have groceries and a good book to just unwind once you get there.

About the host
Your host
Mike and Michelle's first vacation trip after getting married in their home state of Louisiana was to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. The cool rushing streams, beauty of the many waterfalls, and crisp morning air kept bringing us back to the Southern Mountains. Although we lived in Montana for 10 years, the Southern Mountains has been our home for many years now and it's where we raised our three children. Every time we leave the work week behind and head out to the mountains, we feel the stress melt away.
Our Mission We have always loved hospitality and creating special memories for friends and family. We strive to do that for each of our guests. We want to create a place that is warm and inviting where you can relax, have home cooked meals together and enjoy being with family. The mountains bring a sense of calm and rejuvenation, as well as adventure. Our goal is for you to obtain all of that - and more!
