Great location out in farm country. Parks very close by. Quirky little cabin, quaint. Loved the solitude and quiet among the fields. Amenities worked fine. Pick up bottled water at one of the Utica liquor stores; nearest supermarket is Kroger in Ottawa; while there go to Sunfield restaurant. Great coffee shop called Jeremiah Joe's in Utica. Drove around to the other towns. LaSalle has 19th century buildings and a great coffee shop with museum of the Illinois-Michigan canal. Worth visiting, and you can walk down to the canal stop in town. Beanbox Coffee in town, fun stop. Starved Rock hiking is cool, half the park is closed now for maintenance but plenty to see and you'll get a workout.
It was a very cute place & did look just like the pictures! The host was very communicative and check in couldn’t be smoother. However, the water did stink so I would recommend bringing a supply if you’re sensitive. Also, you can’t tell from the listing but there is a two story rental directly behind the house as well. We kinda thought we would be the only ones on the property but that was not the case! Not a problem but something to beware of :) All in all a great place and excellent for the proximity to state parks
We take a hiking trip every year for our anniversary. We wanted a place close to the parks and a place we could bring our dog. This cute farmhouse was so incredibly peaceful and minutes from Matthiessen State Park and Starved Rock. It reminded me of where I grew up. We live in a busy neighborhood and being able to just have peace and quiet was amazing. The host was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed!
Wonderful experience at this remodeled farmhouse in the country! Joe was great-if you like a clean, quiet, cozy place in the country-this is the place!
Off the beaten path and close to parks for hiking. More cookware and such would help but very nice kitchen. Liked the wrap around porch with barbecues handy
property owner was easy to reach and communicate with. He went way out of his way to prepare some extra things that we requested last minute. Great property and a great location. Don't miss this little gem.
Great property, as advertised. Our plans centered around hiking in the local state parks, and it's the perfect location for that. Our needs were simple and they were met here. We stayed super cozy amid the blustery winds and rains of late March, and we loved that we could have our dog with us.
We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back for more stays. The only thing missing was wash clothes and hand towels.I would add in the coffee is a kurig and not a actual coffee pot.I went to town and bought one for our stay.
This was the perfect property for a weekend getaway. Simple place with ample room around the property for or dog to run. The big soaking tub was a major plus. Host was quick with communication & check in was easy. Would definitely book again!
I recommend bringing a white noise machine (or app) if you’re coming on a day that happens to be super windy (like it was for us!).
Great property. Had a little trouble with the smart lock on the door, Joe unlocked remotely and was out shortly after with a regular key. Pleasure to work with and look forward to coming back
Great place on mutiple acres. The owners house is right behind the property so we kept the blinds closed on that side and left the porch side open to view acres of beautiful farmland. Had an amazing time hiking starved rock with the changing leaves in fall.

Thanks Neil, so happy for you enjoy your weekend. We don’t live in another house. The both of them is for rental. If you have morn than two people would ok for that one next door.
