Beautiful old fashioned home with country charm. A great place to disconnect from the hecticity of life and create memories with friends and/or family. Went with a group of close friends Stayed theee nights. Beds and furnature were cozy. Would definitely stay again.
This place is just beautiful. It’s an early 19th century house that is so well maintained, full of lovely period furniture, well stocked, and has updates where you hope to have updates. Plenty of sleeping space available. A grocery store is just a couple miles down the road. Lauren was gracious and easy to contact. The pool and grounds are AMAZING! We had so much fun swimming and spending time with family. One caveat to the experience: this is an older home with stairs and thresholds - not accessible for mobility challenged individuals. We were able to give my 90 year old parents a peak of the place because they really wanted to see it but there is no way they could have stayed there (both use walkers). They loved it and they truly enjoyed joining us on the lawn (very accessible) but could not have stayed. We weren’t surprised by this and it was never intended they would stay, but I wanted to put it out there. We truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend.

Peaceful Country Home Away from Home!
We stayed at the property when our son graduated from West Point. It was a 45 minute trip to the Academy, but not difficult to negotiate and we so looked forward to this tranquil setting as a welcome change from the hectic schedule of Grad Week. This IS an 1820 farmhouse, so go there with that expectation.
The owners lived right next door but they were not intrusive; rather, we found them to be extremely accommodating to our needs and enjoyed talking to them about the history of the house and surrounding area. They were also helpful with information about restaurants and local grocery shopping.
It was too cool during our stay to enjoy the pool, but it looked very inviting and was a nice area to sit and enjoy the sun. The bedrooms comfortably slept 7 people and an air mattress was provided for another person.
All-in-all, a very enjoyable stay!

We're very happy to have hosted you folks. Congrats on the graduation from West Point. We're very happy that you stayed here and thank you for taking such good care of this old beauty. B
The great location of this house and the beautiful property grounds provided a perfect solution to our socially distanced, outdoor visiting with friends, month. The saltwater pool is very large and gorgeous- on one side is a huge beautiful meadow with wildflowers, the other side, the towering trees on the property. When it was too hot to move, we lazed about the pool. A grill and large tables allowed for outdoor meals with friends. The owner is very responsive to any issues- For example, the grill didn't work so well so they replaced it within 2 days.
While the house has large rooms, the antique furnishings and musty old house smell aren't the most comfortable. We got used to it and felt the trade off for the beautiful pool and grounds and fabulous pool met our needs.
We had the most fantastic two weeks at Lauren's home in New Paltz. This historic home is fully stocked with everything you need for any length of time. The pool is beautiful and we spent many hours swimming and relaxing. My husband and I were also able to work remotely using the Wifi. The A/C kept us cool during the hot July days and nights. We wanted to leave NYC for 2 weeks during this pandemic period and we could not have dreamed of a better place to be. The house is ideally situated for quick trips into the village of New Paltz as well access to the beauty of the Hudson Valley. Lauren was a lovely host and we hope to return some day.

Large, spacious, in ground pool, quiet location
This house has pros and cons
pros:
The house built in 1820, has a lot of space, and a decent kitchen, and an in ground, clean, salt water pool. Lauren, our host is very nice. If you like old houses, this may be for you.
Cons, the house smells musty. The wallpaper is peeling in many rooms. The indoor trim on the windows back porch need paint and repair. The pool appears to be held together with tape in 3 corners. The beds are lumpy, and the sheets don't fit well.
The rugs feels dirty to the touch.

More than you'd expect
in an 1820 property. Clean, comfortable and roomy are the descriptors that come to mind. Our family of five adults had a wonderful time here. T'wood have been better as a summer retreat as we'd have been able to use the pool.
Would go back in a heartbeat.
Thank you Lauren for your hospitality.

Lovely historic house
My group of 6 had a great time staying in the farmhouse. Everything was as described and Dean was super helpful and accommodating throughout the stay. The effort to make us feel welcome was wonderful. We appreciated the history of the property and the house was comfortable. The location was perfect for exploring New Paltz downtown and local attractions as well as doing some hiking in Mohonk. The group definitely took advantage of the pool and the grill, which were much appreciated. A very enjoyable weekend stay.

summer 2015
My family of three decided we needed a getaway from the city. We stayed at this lovely 200 year old home for five weeks. We knew it was an old place, but the bathrooms were renovated and the showers powerful. We had a wonderful barbecue and a beautiful pool with gorgeous grounds. It was a piece of heaven. We were all sad to leave. We were absolutely floored by the hospitality and the attention given to our needs. It was one of the best summers we ever had.

Really Lovely Place to Stay in New Paltz
We really loved our stay this weekend at this home. It is like stepping back into time a little and staying at your Grandparent's home in the country. We learned a lot about the history of New Paltz, Mohonk, the Dubois and Jenkins families. The furnishings are old-fashioned but in keeping with the historical 1820 home and theme. The home is very roomy with a lovely sun room, separate tv-room, nice-sized central dining room. Everything was super clean and comfy. We all felt right at home as soon as we walked in. The beds were all great. The owners couldn't have been nicer. We didn't use the pool (too cold as it was only first week of May) but we would go back in a heartbeat for some hiking in Mohonk and followed by a swim in the pool. 10 minutes from downtown New Paltz, 10 minutes from trails to Mohonk Mountain. The spa across the road is a special treat and was very welcomed after some long miles in the woods.

Pleasant base for a stay in the Hudson Valley
Overall, we had a pleasant stay in this vintage home in the Hudson Valley in Gardiner, outside of New Paltz. The location was convenient to several places of interest, including the FDR Library, Museum, and home (30 minutes), Minnewaska State Park Preserve (15 minutes -- beautiful lake and hiking trails!), Rhinebeck (45 minutes) and Hudson (50 minutes -- art and antiques), and the Walk over the Hudson (15 minutes -- highly recommended walk over the river via a Rails-to-Trails bridge). Restaurants and groceries are 10-15 minutes away.
Pros: Good location; quiet residential neighborhood with lots of trees; owners live next door and are quite responsive to any needs; bedrooms and bathrooms are well-appointed and comfortable; generously-sized swimming pool with slide, towels, and poolside furniture (we enjoyed swimming and eating outside) are a bonus; house contains some interesting antiques. Owners and rental agent were very helpful in advising about sights nearby and places to eat and shop. New Paltz is a lively, college town.
Cons: The house was clean, but had a faint musty smell upon arrival, as house had been closed up prior to our arrival (we were told that we were the first renters). The smell decreased greatly (but did not entirely disappear in every room) after the first day of our 3-night stay as air conditioning kicked in. Owners were responsive in trying to address this problem. Because this is an older home, furniture is somewhat dated. Pond was not accessible because a path had not yet been mowed.

Thanks so much for your kind words. We very much enjoyed your stay here. Thanks as well for your very honest remarks. This old beauty had been closed up awhile and your arrival a full day before we expected you didn't allow us any time to air it out for you. We did our very best for you and would love to see you again. Respectfully, Bruce
