About this property
Sunny Freshly Renovated Art Pad- Great for Groups
Summary:
Sunny and bright, w/gleaming hardwood floors and an eclectic blend of both modern and antique, the house has been renovated from top to bottom. This property has nearly 3,000 total sq. and both sides are rented together. This means that you’ll have 2 living rooms, 2 kitchens, and 7 bedrooms! It’s just a short drive to all the hotspots, and you’ll have a gated driveway to come home to. Very close to bars and restaurants, and very close to Frenchmen street. The perfect house for groups!
The Space:
Ready to take New Orleans by storm? This is the perfect place for you! Close to all the action of Bourbon Street, the French Quarter, and Frenchmen St., and you’ve got plenty of space to relax and hang out while you’re at home. You’ve even got a privacy fenced back yard with a furnished deck, and gated parking.
The first thing you’ll notice when you arrive is the funky-cool mural we had commissioned for the side of the house. We think it sets the perfect tone for your visit to NOLA.
The living rooms at the Franklin Mural House are a blend of the old and the new. Cushy sofas are great for snuggling up to stream your favorite shows on the HDTVs, while the more formal antique pieces are perfect for conversation between friends or curling up to read a book. They’re also going to look great on your gram!
Both sides are full of interesting antiques and we hope you enjoy all these little pieces of New Orleans' past.
Save some bucks and take advantage of the two complete, and fully-equipped kitchens. Both feature stainless steel appliances and plenty of storage space for all your goodies and groceries. If anyone feels like cooking, there’s plenty of counter space for food prep. And don’t worry, both kitchens have coffee makers!
Seven bedrooms! Four full bathrooms! 3,000 total square feet! And we can sleep 15 people. More than enough for a girls’ or guys’ weekend, multiple families, or just a big group of friends. Come on down to New Orleans to the Franklin Mural House!
One side of the duplex has 4 bedrooms with queens (please note that you will have to pass through one of these bedrooms to reach another), a sleeper sofa in the living room and two full baths.
The other side of the duplex has 3 bedrooms, one with a king and the other two with queens, a sleeper sofa in the living room and two full baths.
Guest Access:
Big house, with seven beds, two baths, kitchen, laundry, and access to the backyard and parking
The Neighborhood:
This house is located just a short walk to the marigny neighborhood known for its funky articheture, art, and music!
The Faubourg Marigny, commonly just Marigny, is a hip neighborhood just "below" (down river from) the French Quarter. Best known for the great live music district on Frenchmen Street, the Marigny also offers neighborhood cafes & businesses, historic architecture, and more. It has the air of what the French Quarter was in it's golden days. It has a few small hotels, and many bed-and-breakfasts, as well as a number of good restaurants, coffee shops, and music venues. Architecturally, the Marigny is known for its many styles of Creole cottages, most of which date to the 19th century. Its "heart" is Washington Square Park (bounded by Frenchmen Street, Royal Street, Dauphine Street, and Elysian Fields Avenue). Frenchmen Street is the main nightlife district, with half a dozen live music clubs and just as many restaurants in four short blocks. At Mardi Gras, the Marigny is one of the city's hidden hot spots. Very popular with locals, who enjoy partying in the streets without the busy atmosphere of Bourbon Street. Crowds gather at the corner of Royal and Kerlerec (outside of R-Bar Inn) as well as at the intersection of Royal and Franklin. Elaborate costumes are the order of the day, along with brass bands and many drummers. Two weeks before Mardi Gras, the Marigny is also the starting place for the Krewe du Vieux, a satirical, raunchy parade in 19th-century Carnival style! Complete with small floats drawn by krewe members and mules. Local cafes, restaurants and music venues line Frenchmen Street. Known for its bohemian atmosphere, the Marigny is home to many artists and musicians, as well as a sizable gay and lesbian population. Among its notable residents are chef Paul Prudhomme, painter James Michalopoulas, and actors Harry Shearer and Jennifer Coolidge, who can be seen around town when they're not working in L.A. Local writers include New Orleans mystery writers, Julie Smith and J.M. Redmann, as well as Andrei Codrescu, Michael Swindle, and Kevin Allman. Frenchmen Street is in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood just below the lower edge of the Quarter. A 4 block stretch of bars, restaurants, and coffee shops mixed with live music venues make it one of the city's most hip places, catering more to locals than tourists (though tourists are certainly welcome, and welcomed). On any given night, one might find modern jazz, swinging traditional jazz, Latin American style music, rockabilly, and more within this small area.
