Welcome to Makai Sunrise, a cottage by the beach and a 30 second walk to shore!

PROPERTY
Makai Sunrise is a beautifully furnished, private, beach cottage home with three decks, and two separate floors with separate entrances:

THE MAIN HOUSE: Top Floor
The Main House hosts the living room, dining room, kitchen, 4 of 5 bedrooms, and 2 of 3 showers:

KITCHEN: a full functioning kitchen stocked with utensils and cookware for the best of chefs, it also includes crockpots, an Airfryer, toaster, blender, coffee pots, electric skillet, microwave, and more!

DINING ROOM:
Comfortably seats 6 with room for 8. There is also a Kitchen Island with 3 counter height chairs.

LIVING ROOM:
Offers 3 full recliners, Sofa, a 65" SMART/Cable/WIFI TV all your favorite app and a sound bar; an "old school" Nintendo with over 100 of your favorite classic games, over 25 board and card games, and books about Hatteras Island and the OBX - all for your entertainment on a rainy or sunburned day!

BATHROOMS:
There are two full baths on the main level, located in the Master bedroom and guest Hallway.

BEDROOMS: 4 of 5 bedrooms are located in the main house:
1 - The AVON master suite - this Sunrise themed bedroom provides a king size bed, SMART/Cable/WIFI TV, and a full bath.
2 - The FRISCO guest suite - a SURFING themed bedroom providing a queen bed and SMART/Cable/WIFI TV
3 - The WAVES suite - an ocean wave themed room hosting a twin/full bunkbed
4 - The BUXTON suite - a lighthouse themed room offers a queen bed and SMART/Cable/WIFI TV

BOTTOM LEVEL - 1st floor
***THE ONLY ACCESS TO THE 1ST FLOOR IS FROM OUTSIDE - THROUGH A LOCKED KEYPAD WITH SEPARATE ACCESS CODE.****

This new addition was completed in January of 2025 and provides our guests with a 5th bedroom, 1/2 Bath, and a Game Room.

RODANTHE 5th bedroom is a sea shell theme room hosting a TWIN/FULL combo bunk, TV, and a 1/2 bath. The refrigerator located in the adjacent laundry room (also only accessible by going outside) is convenient for those in the 5th bedroom or Game room.

HATTERAS GAME ROOM - a fishing themed room, it offers a Pool Table, soft-tip dart bard, and a 58" SMART/Cable/WIFI TV.

The SALVO Shower - the 3rd shower is located right outside the Game Room - with hot and cold running water, privacy, and light, it's a perfect shower for anyone to use at any time.

LAUNDRY ROOM - is located between the Game Room and Salvo Shower, providing a full size washer, dryer, refrigerator, and all of your essential beach gear!

Great Vacation!

We all enjoyed our stay at Makai Sunrise! The house was located within short walking distance of the beach and had all the amenities we needed for a family vacation for 6 adults and 1 child. We definitely would consider returning to the property in the future and will recommend to others looking for a great get away location.

Great place all the way around and great hosts!

My wife and I just stayed here for the first time and it was all around just a great experience. The location is perfect and everything about the home and property was just as described. The hosts were also extremely welcoming and accommodating, and communication has been great since the day we booked our trip. We already are looking forward to our next trip here!

Awesome place

Location was great. The inside was updated. It was the most kid-friendly place we’ve ever stayed (it had outlet covers, a pack-and-play, and a booster seat on one of the chairs). That meant a lot to us. We’d definitely stay there again.

Wonderful Property

Our family of five adults, one baby, and one dog had a fantastic stay at Makai Sunrise. The hosts are very responsive and helpful. They work hard to ensure the comfort and convenience of their guests. The kitchen is fully stocked; one of the most equipped in any place we've stayed. Nice to have the outdoor shower and water hose to wash off sand before going back inside. Separate game room and bedroom is a plus, for larger groups.

Perfect spot for a family vacation to OBX

This beach cottage was the perfect spot for my family to crash after a long day at the beach or sight-seeing. It's situated in a lovely location and has everything you need to enjoy your time in OBX. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, well thought out and provided plenty of room for us to spread out. I appreciated that a lot of beach supplies were provided so we didn't have to purchase chairs, towels, boogie boards, etc. We enjoyed the proximity to the beach and to the southern portion of OBX. We would definitely book again!

All around great experience!

We have stayed here twice now and both times have been amazing. Everything was just as described and the hosts are the best. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and also are just great people to work with. If you like to fish there’s also great fishing on the beach right behind the house, I caught several nice red drum, and a few big sharks fishing at night. Avon pier is also very close by and one of my favorite piers. We can’t wait to come back!

Makai sunrise beach cottage

Lovely clean home but the amenities listed are not clear as the pool is not on-site the game room is not finished I am unaware of a hot tub and there is no play ground within walking distance. If you have small children or are physically challenged be prepared for a sandy walk through the dunes to reach the shore. As a safety note at the top of the stairs could be dangerous for young children as there is no gate to prevent falling down the steps from the deck. Be prepared with paper goods such as toilet paper,trash bags,paper towels, automatic dishwasher soap. Plenty of beach toys and gas in the grill we did enjoy our visit but I think these things are worth noting
