About this property

Our cottage is ideally located well west of Highway 101, in a quiet neighborhood with little traffic, one block away from Stone Steps Beach in Encinitas. It is walking distance to coffee shops, many local restaurants ranging from fine dining to bistros and ethnic foods. In addition to its many eateries and shopping, Encinitas is famous for its surf breaks. Beacons Beach, Swamis, and Pontos surf breaks are within a couple miles. The local Farmers Market is held only two blocks away.

Our cottage is cute, clean, and cool with brand new air conditioning, and comfortably sleeps 1-6 people. Very few beach cottages have Ac and we don't often need it but it is there when you do! There are 2 bedrooms, one with a beautiful bamboo king and all organic cotton mattress, and one with twin over full bunk. There is also a large sectional sofa that is also comfortable to sleep on. The bathroom is recently remodeled , plus a hot water outside shower, and large lovely tropical patio. Wifi and flat screen tv in living room. The garage is stocked with beach toys, boogie boards and beach chairs. Several of the local kids are available for impromptu surf lessons.

We absolutely loved our stay at this charming beach cottage in Encinitas! The location is perfect—peaceful yet just a short walk to the beach, with shops and great restaurants nearby. The cottage itself is cozy and comfortable, ideal for a relaxing getaway. The inviting yard was a wonderful spot to enjoy morning coffee or evening dinner, adding to the laid-back beach vibe. Our host was incredibly friendly and communicative, making check-in and our entire stay seamless and welcoming. Truly a hidden gem—we can’t wait to return for another great stay!

Perfect VRBO

I can not say enough wonderful things about this house. Our family agreed that the only thing we did not like is that we had to leave. It had everything we wanted (including boogie boards, beach chairs/umbrellas, sand toys) an I appreciate not needing to bring or buy those items. We’ll be back for sure.

Great place and great location

My family of four stayed here for the weekend and it was exactly what we needed. We have a 2 and 3 year old, and both loved the house and slept great. My 3 year old even cried when we got home and said “I want to go back to the yellow home.” Next time we’re vacation in the SD area, we’ll most likely look to see if this is available.

Perfect beach house in Encinitas

This home has a perfect location in a quiet neighborhood. Easy walk to the beach and a coffee shop. The house is equipped with everything you could need. The host is awesome, the dryer stopped working and he had it fixed within a few minutes of me texting him.

Galyn's house is nothing fancy, but it has most everything you need and most of all, SoCal's perfect beach location. Galyn is a great guy and is attentive to his guests' every need. Highly recommended.

Great property and property manager

This was the ideal location for the three of us. Located walking distance to the beach and close to a lot of coffee shops and eateries. The property manager was super responsive to questions and any issues. Thoroughly enjoyed staying here and having a responsive owner.

Great Beach Cottage!

The cottage is very well equipped, comfy beds, was very clean, and had everything you need to cook, and a nice family room area. Located in a very quite, nice neighborhood and walking distance to some nice restuarants and coffee houses. Overall a very nice place for a beach town getaway!! Oh and the cottage works well for dogs with a nice patio/backyard that is fully enclosed so you can allow your pups to roam a bit.

Perfect spot

Awesome location to go to the beaches and into town. The place is nicely furnished and has a big outdoor area to hang out, plus an essential outdoor shower to rinse sand off before entering the house. Surfboard and bikes to borrow made this a super vacation. Thanks!

Wonderful Encinitas beach house!

We always love Encinitas and this house was perfect- quiet (very little train noise!), heat pump, front private patio, garage with 3 bikes to use (owner even fixed a flat tire so I could use it), close to Stone Steps to get down to beach, close to Pannikin Coffee, pickleball courts and great great ice cream! We’re already booking for next year!

Great location, great hosts, great stay!

This property was perfect for our visit. Because we were arriving after dark, the host left lights on for us and provided info on activities that were tailored to us. Dog food and water bowls were provided, as well as a dog bed. The yard was perfect for enjoying the weather and was safe for our dog. The cottage furnishings were comfortable. Highly recommend!

Great beach house!

My 17 year-old son and I stayed for the week. This place was perfect for us. It had everything we needed. The location is ideal. It is only a 3-minute walk to the staircase that leads to the beach. Tons of great restaurants in Encinitas are just a short drive away. Galyn was a great host - communication was great, even turned the AC on for us before arrival. This house would be perfect for a couple's trip or a family with a couple of young children. Highly recommend!

Perfect stay- will be back!

My mom, sister and I stayed at Galyns house for my moms birthday. We loved it! We felt so at home in this cozy house. The location is amazing- 5 minute walk to the beach, 15 minute walk to 2 other beaches, and a short walk into town. Encinitas is a sweet little surf town, and we felt so comfy being here! Galyn was in touch and very kind. We’re looking forward to coming back. We loved it so much we even might make regular trips to the beach house.

Gem of a cottage tucked away in Leucadia neighborhood seconds from the beach!

Stayed here for 2.5 weeks with my girlfriend while we house hunted in the area and almost wanted to stay here for good! Such a comfortable and pleasant little house super close to everything in the area. The property also had much more private outdoor space than anticipated and even an outdoor shower which was amazing after a surf at Beacons! Galyn was also an incredible host and very attentive to any questions we had (he also even helped out with our house search)! Great bikes and surfboards also available for use. A 5+ star stay!

Excellent little Beach Cottage

My wife and I and our two corgis loved our stay in this cozy beach cottage in Encinitas. The cottage is small, but there are two excellent outdoor spaces which greatly expand the amount of room to relax in. We ate every meal outside in the front enclosed outdoor space. The doggies loved the yard as well. The owner is friendly and readily available if you run into any problems. The location is perfect. It is less than a 5 minute walk to Stonesteps beach and a short bicycle ride to numerous restaurants and shops. We stayed for a month and are already planning our next trip here.

Perfect VRBO!

This place was fantastic for our family. We stayed here for 10 days over christmas. It was me, my husband, and our two boys ages 7 and 4. We were easy walking distance to the beach and shops and restaurants in the area. Yes, small kid distance walking to the beach. It was a dream! The beds were comfortable, it was easy to do laundry, and the kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy. I think it included 2 bikes but we didn't use them. The outdoor living space is like another living room. We accidentally broke part of her ceiling fan and we immediately texted her and she was so gracious and didn't charge us extra. The owner was so sweet and communicative. We would love to come back!

Relaxing Beach Vacation

We loved staying at Gayln's house. It was a perfect location in Encinitas. We were able to walk to the farmer's market, many nearby restaurants and businesses, and the beach. Beacons, Stonesteps, and D Street/Moonlight Beach are all very close by for those who want to surf. The property was very dog friendly. Gayln was also very kind and welcoming to us and our sheltie. It can be hard to find a place to travel with a dog, so we really appreciated the hospitality. The neighborhood felt quiet, especially at night. The kitchen was stocked with enough basics to make simple meals, but if you don't want to cook, you have your choice of food within walking distance. There were also laundry machines available, which is a big plus on longer trips. We will definitely return to this cute house!

The Cure to Modern Life

This property is everything you could hope for if you are looking to escape the fast-paced grind and reconnect with nature, your family, and yourself. The front yard is an inviting oasis that greats you with sunny plants and ample space. The house provides all the creature comforts, with large rooms, spacious living areas, and a nicely appointed kitchen. The host provides everything you could need, even things you didn't even consider, like bikes, boogie boards and umbrellas. As great as the house is, the major draw for us was the very short walk to the Stone steps and the beach. We barely used our car as the neighborhood was walkable and peaceful and offered shops, restaurants, and tons of coffee options. We were so taken we are planning to return next summer for a longer stretch. I don't want to say too much more, or this little gem might not be available!

We have lived in this neighborhood for 25 years, of all the places I have lived this is the best! My wife and I came here for college and never left. We now have 3 generations living within a 10 mile radius, that is how great this beach town is. Friendly, healthy, safe and so much to do. We would love to share Encinitas with you!

Why they chose this property

This cottage is one block away from the beach and every single house a block away is a multimillion dollar property. Our street is not a through street so there is almost no traffic, except for the surfers of course! The cottage is stocked with beach toys, available on request, and you won't even need your car, everything is walking distance. If you want to strike out farther you can take the train anywhere North or South, the station is just about a mile away. Take a look at a map and see how ideally central coastal Encinitas is to everything.
