Birthday Get Away

We thought the property was just the right side for two people. All the comforts of home. Great location. Views of the lake from the front porch. Just a short walk to the lake. All kind of amenities.. Having a stove and refrigerator made it very like for preparing meals. Will return again.

quick get a way

The location and appearance of the place was good for the price, however we could not use the stove and were stuck in a huge snow pile since the 2nd entrance was not plowed as it should've been, we had to be stuck in out cabin unable to leave or cook a meal for my child because the stove did not turn on and there was no lighter to light the burner. Luckily I had brought some snacks to hold him off until AAA came to pull us out of the snow. If they had there grounds kept properly we would have had a better experience.

Cozy getaway turns into a musky cigarette filled weekend

The minute you walk into the cabin, it’s as if someone smoked a pack of cigarettes right before with all the windows closed. It completely took away the excitement and smelled of musk and smoke the entire weekend. The dishes were also dirty and who knows if the bed was even cleaned. I can honestly say i was disappointed as we were looking forward to a romantic cozy weekend in the mountains. I have never left a negative review before but i felt like this needed to happen so things can get fixed ASAP. I understand this was an older cabin but the rental/management property really needs to do an overall inspection and deep clean. Especially the smell of cigarettes. Unless your smoker, and want to have a weekend smelling like a Las Vegas casino, then this place is the perfect fit for you. I left disappointed and really hope this comment gets taken into consideration for the next time this place gets rented, they will have a clean, cozy, mountain getaway.

Functional

The place was a good place to stay, small and so it is really for sleeping and cooking, not hanging out. This is not a criticism, but it was very interesting to me that there was no filter for the coffee pot, reusable or disposable. A reusable coffee filter would be a great addition to the coffee pot for a very small price.

Shore Acres

Very cute little cabin right on the water. Wall heater worked very well and unit was clean. Very comfortable lil place. Could use TV in bedroom and doesn't have a fire place but, has a community fireplace outside with ping pong, horseshoes and swing set for the kids. Overall, very comfortable for a lil cabin.

Peaceful and quaint

Our stay in the cabin was exactly what we needed. So close to the lake we could walk down there. The management team answered any questions we had and was pleasant. It was a pleasure to stay with Big Bear vacations.

Big Bear overnight stay

The view was spectacular. The cabin was clean and we enjoyed our night very much. We even had a morning visitor. A duck wondered over to our property and up on the porch to have morning coffee with us!!

Decent but a tad overpriced for what it is

Fairly roomy for a cozy 1 bedroom cabin. Clean. Nice firm bed, small but comfy couch, and good-sized kitchen. Plenty of lights. My medium-sized dog and I had plenty of space. OK shower (could use a facelift), but may be difficult for taller people (the shower head is pretty low but is removable). Hot water came out of all taps almost immediately. The cabin is very close to the lake and pretty quiet for being near Big Bear Blvd. A few minutes' drive to trailheads for hiking and Big Bear Village for nightlife/eating. Keep in mind that the heater is in the living room--not sure how warm it will keep the bedroom in the dead of winter, although it looked like there was a space heater in the closet. My big complaint: my last night in the cabin, I was woken up at 3am by loud scratching in the walls. Not sure if it was a squirrel or raccoon or what, but it was VERY loud and VERY persistent. Didn't think it was coming through the wall, but it was still disruptive. When I told the guy manning the desk at the rental office, he sort of just shrugged and then handed me a coupon, so I'm not sure if their critter problem will actually be taken care of any time soon. Only other thing I would suggest is maybe some extension cords or surge protector bricks to charge devices -- there are very few outlets and they are in very inconvenient places.
