My family spent a wonderful month at Jason's property. The apartment was spacious, immaculately clean and contained everything a family might need for a stay. Check-in and check-out was very smooth and Jason went above and beyond to welcome us in person and ensure we had everything we needed. Jason is extremely responsive and went out of his way to ship my son's laptop to us which we accidentally left behind. The property itself is a very short walk from the subway and the train into Manhattan was very convenient (via the A and C train).
The property met all of our needs for an extended work stay which was almost two months in duration. Jason was an incredibly helpful host that was very responsive whenever we had questions. The property is located very close to a train station that can take you into Manhattan.
Great location. Super spacious, nicely furnished basement apartment. Great restaurants and markets in easy walking distance. Wonderful, responsive host. We loved it all.

This apartment was exactly as our group was hoping it would be. The outdoor space is great for a warm NY day. Jason is extremely welcoming and a fantastic host. Our group cannot recommend this place enough.

One month stay
Jason is a great host. Very pleasant, attentive, and collaborative. Can't say anything bad about the host.
About the apartment, you get what you pay. Many appliances, but very little day light comes in. Quite spacious. Subway station is 2 min at walking distance.
Overall, we had a great time.
The apartment have anything you need. Close to the subway station, only 2 minutes walking.
There’re lots of restaurants, bars, and all grocery stores of walking distance.
Jason is also a helpful and kind gentleman. He’s like always doing his best to assist if any question or issue.
Highly recommended!
I stayed here for one month with my partner for work-related travel. This was the perfect place for an extended stay in NYC. The property is clean and very spacious with plenty of space for two people to both work and relax. It was well-stocked with basic kitchen ingredients, cleaning supplies and toiletries. The kitchen was well-equipped which made it easy for us to prepare our own meals as much as we wanted. The in-suite laundry was also highly convenient. The property is a 5 minute walk from a subway station, making it very easy to travel to Manhattan and the main tourist attractions in NYC. The neighbourhood is safe and beautiful, with many great restaurants and bars very close by. Jason was a fabulous host throughout our stay, including being very rapidly responsive and communicative when we experienced a minor plumbing issue. We would highly recommend this property!
We love this brownstone apartment and enjoy working with Jason! Everything is spotless clean, every time! Great cots for extra bedding. The laundry room is large and so helpful. We are able to take only a personal item on the flight due to having the laundry room, so it helps save money. They have everything you could need. Lovely outdoor space in the back. Small grocery less than a block out the front door. Metro is less than a block through a small park. Secure property. Didn’t worry about our safety at all, and it was just me and two daughters. Jason’s family member lives upstairs - no issues at all there. Quiet and plenty privacy. Well stocked with cleaning supplies and laundry detergent. Highly recommend! Thanks Jason!
Lovely place like from every NYC movie you've seen
We wanted a place in Brooklyn because it sounded way cooler than staying in New Jersey. It's Brooklyn! Our kids have friends named Brooklyn because of this place. We weren't disappointed.
People tend to go to NYC to see Manhattan and all the sites you see on TV. But walking around this Brooklyn neighbourhood felt more likea movie. (Characters in New York movies never go to Times Square. Instead, they walk around places like this.)
Back to the review... The walk to the subway is literally 2 minutes. The ride my subway to, say, Times Square is about 35 minutes. This is a basement apartment so there are only a handful of windows, but you wouldn't know it. It is nicely decorated, has everything you need for a kitchen and bathroom. The laundry room was a nice touch. The bedroom was small but did the job. There were three roll out folded-up beds, plus a sofa that transformed into two more beds (for kids at least). The apartment was extremely long. It just keeps going and going as you walk through the entryway, TV area, bedrooms, hallway, laundry room, and bathroom.
Plenty of grocery stores and corner stores nearby to pick up milk for the kids. There's a pharmacy within walking distance, too. About the on-street parking... it can be a challenge. After getting the kids to bed, I'd head out to move the car if it was parked in an area where it had to be moved the next morning. No complaints because I was able to see more of the neighbourhood than I would have otherwise. Also, I was able to visit a local shop and buy a candy bar without having to share with the kids.
As you'd expect on a trip to NYC, we didn't spend a lot of time at the apartment. When we arrived home, legs tired and feet sore from a day in Manhatten, we were happy to be home.
We had a wonderful stay. The apartment was ideally located for the Utica Ave stop on the A and C trains for transport and had all the facilities that we needed for our family of four (including two teenage boys). Jason was very helpful before and during our stay. We would highly recommend.
Great location for Manhatten and JFK Airport. The reading room suite is just simply fantastic. We found it incredibly spacious and clean. It had everything we could need for our six night stay, the laundry room was a plus. The subway was an easy 2 min walk through Fulton park which was beautiful. We found the neighborhood very safe and everyone was very welcoming.
Thanks for the memories Jason!
We had a great time with renting this property. Thw owner was super friendly with us renting us a wonderful place to spend our time in nyc. Real near the subway with a perfectly clean property even letting us stay beyond our check out time since our plane was only at night. We thank for our wonderful experience at his property where we spent our first ever tha ks giving dinner.

Amazing Location
Super close to the subway! Made it super easy to travel to the city. Beautiful location and safe neighborhood.
We were all very impressed with the accommodation offered by Jason and his wonderful family. It surpassed anything we were expecting. The location was brilliant right next to the Metro into Manhattan, the neighborhood had a great vibe very friendly and welcoming. The flat itself had everything you would wish for, very clean and a very good size for a family. The little touch, sweets and cookies that were left was much appreciated by my son... I would not hesitate to use this accommodation again. Thank you again Jason and family, it was a real pleasure to meet some wonderful people.
It was an amazing trip. This accommodation is absolutely perfect. The cleanliness, the connection to the subway, the contact to the landlord and the environment, everything is 100% perfect. A 100% recommendation.
Our family felt right at home at The Reading Room. It was spotless and had everything that we needed. The owner Jason is very close by, making himself readily available if needed. We definitely will recommend it to our friends and would stay here again!
My husband and I had a very nice stay at the Reading Room in Bed-Stuy. The apartment is exactly as advertised and the location to the subway station was very convenient. The apartment is comfortable and clean. Jason was awesome and was very helpful. Great place to stay when you come to visit the Big Apple. Elizabeth Jason’s mother resides part of the week upstairs very nice lady also. Highly recommend the Reading Room. Be sure to check out Saraghina great for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.
Highly recommended!
Apartment was nice and cosy, beyond our expectations. Owner was very thoughtful and accommodating.
Owner very helpful and instructions all clear. We found apartment very clean and well appointed with easy to operate white goods and all kitchen, laundry and bathroom essentials.
Excellent location close to the train.

About the host
Hosted by Jason
This limestone home has been carefully taken care of since it was built in 1910. The neighborhood of Stuyvesant Heights is home to many families including my own. We enjoy the neighborhood feel, the magnificent New York architecture, the independent coffee shops and trendy restaurants. The A Train is less than 100 ft. from the apartment and your trip into the city will take approximately 25 minutes. Clearly, Brooklyn itself is a destination and you will be right in the center if you choose to stay at the Reading Room Suite.
We look forward to having you enjoy the neighborhood as many, many travelers from around the world do every day! Have breakfast in the Reading Room Suite or in one of the many neighborhood eateries before setting out on your day to explore all that New York has to offer. Warmest regards, Jason
