LA MAISON DES SIRENES 1, Bohemian and charm, ing 20mn away from city.
On the third floor of a hundred years old brownstone, la Maison des Sirenes is perfect for anybody appreciating style and comfort. Affordable but not 'cheap', La Maison des Sirenes is well dressed!!! The apartment was decorated with taste and I meticulously picked every single of furnitures myself. This is the first apartment I ever rented as a vacation rental(August 2007).
It is located on one of the most coveted block of Bedstuy(tree lined). It features a master bedroom,an antique clawfoot bathroom, fully equipped Tuscan style kitchen, dining room, living room and an amazing bamboo lined deck with table, umbrella and seats .Perfect for barbecue in summer, sun bathing brunches on weekends or simply relaxing. Most importantly the apartment is a few stations away from Manhattan. Keep in mind this is not a newly renovated apartment. It is very cosy and shows signs of age. It is a home and people Love it! NYC OCCUPANCY TAXES ARE NOT INCLUDED AND ARE DUE UPON ARRIVAL IN CASH. Required by the city on less than 180 days rentals, they are 5.875% +$2/night. As of 03/01/2025 VRBO collects and remits the NY state and sales taxes (8.875% +$1.50/night). Check my other property La maison des Sirenes 2 (384590)
Bedstuy used to be known for its motto 'do or die' . Not anymore!!!! Now it is best known for its incredibly beautiful Brownstone. It was fearures recently in the Time Out magazine as ' one of the best ' of NYC. The strong community and abundant beautiful brownstone townhouses contribute to its growth and charm. New cafes, restaurants, bakeries ,boutique ,galleries nd wine bars are sprouting everywhere receiving much attention by Zagat, time out,NY magazines and blogs. A diverse mix of students, hipsters, artists, crative professionals, architects and attorneys continue to move to the neighbourhood. The area is serviced well by the A and C train with commute times 15 mn to lower manhattan and 30 mn to midtown.(times square).
Bedstuy was home to famous artists such as Notorious BIG,Lil Kim,Mos Def,Chris rock,,poet June Jordan and activist Hattie Carthan. Bedstuy streets are often represented in media : Spike lee movies, MIA music video..... There is a strong sense of pride being part of Bedstuy and being its pioneers.

If you are looking for a charming apartment with character, this is the one for you. Plenty of room and natural light. Everything we needed to enjoy our visit to the city. Walking distance to markets, restaurants, and subway lines. Very responsive host and easy check in.
The host was very welcoming and great with communication. The location is really great with a lot to do in the area and public transportation is nearby. The apartment itself is very cozy and the decorations make it feel like home. I highly recommend staying here!
Apartment was in a great place for subway, supermarket and some nice restaurants. Nathalie was a great host and responded to messages very promptly and it was an easy check in and out. Apartment was spacious, clean and well equipped. Outside space was excellent too. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.
Had our second stay at Nathalie’s great Bed-Stuy apt, this time the 2nd floor one. Perfect for the three of us visiting our daughter. The apt is very thoughtfully decorated and has everything you need for a NYC stay. Even though the temps got into the teens, the radiator heat kept the apt warm and comfortable. Great location with 10 min walk to the C line. Would stay again!
The place was just as described - clean, confortable, quiet and a 10 min walk to the C line. Nathalie is a wonderful host, very helpful and quick to respond to my questions. Highly recommend her apartment! We look forward to another stay!
Close 5 - 9min walk to Kingston-Throop subway station C local train which is a quick 20minute access to Manhattan. Corner delis, laundromat, supermarket within quick accessibility. Apartment located on 2nd floor, very homely feel has kitchen, fridge/freezer all amenities provided. Perfect for our teenage/adult family of four. I would definitely stay again.

Nathalie was a great communicator and her place was unique and special. We wanted an authentic city experience and staying in her brownstone in Brooklyn gave us that. It was roomy for my family of four, much more so than any 2 hotel rooms could have provided. We had a great visit with the subway only a few blocks away, giving us easy access to the city. Thanks Nathalie!
Great apartment in a very quiet area. Communication with Manhattan is very good as the C subway line stop is only 5 minutes away from the property. The apartment is comfortable for 5 people. It has everything you need to eat/dine there. We visited in winter and the atmosphere inside was very cozy. The decor is very original, conveying the authentic New York essence of the early 20th century.Communication with the owner was excellent at all times.I would especially recommend it to families with children.
Nathalie was really great with communicating during my stay. It was an awesome location with a really cozy vibe inside. Super unique and much better than just staying in a hotel. Would definitely stay here again
Really nice apartment with terrace. 8min Walk to the C Metro line which connects directly to Manhattan/Penn Station. Nathalie is a very friendly host and questions were always answered quickly. Thank you again, Nathalie
We had a great stay over Christmas in the apartment, everything was as described in a great location close to metro to access manhatten. Would stay again if we visited NYC in the future.
we had a wonderful stay at nathalie’s place! looked just like the photos, a super charming spot in a great location close to the subway and plenty of restaurants. check in was easy and she was very communicative throughout our stay. would recommend!
Just loved the old brownstone vibe. Many parts of our apt. were original. The decor made it very homey and even a bit European. An old claw foot tub. Out the back window was a small view of the backyard garden that was very picturesque. It was writhing walking distance to small markets, deli’s, subways and bars (even on that had live music every night). My granddaughter and I both loved it.
