Jamie is a great host!! Spent some time getting to know each other and full of advice for the area. Place is in a great setting and easy to just fall in love with your surroundings. Definitely will return.

Greeting Travelers,
After ten straight years of hosting fellow travelers like me, I still adhere to the same philosophy that I started out with. That is, if possible give your guests the same kind of local treatment that I have come to expect when I am on an adventure in this country or any other country.
As a veteran world traveller I know that just a few good inside locals tips on where to go and what to do in a new place makes a world of a difference in the quality of the overall traveling experience, compared to going to a new place and not meeting the property owner for example and figuring things out on your own.
I have been a sports guide for just about every activity around Taos and northern NM. So from fly fishing to mountain biking to skiing the secret steep powder stashes in the Taos ski valley, I am happy to point my guests in the right direction always. It always comes back to me as a big thank you from them.
That quality of being a good Samaritan by helping travelers out a little more than whats expected to me makes all my vacation renting experiences totally worth the effort that I put into them.
Its all about meeting some new friends from different places that teach each other about some of the more fun things to do in this great country,
Happy vacationing,
Jamie B.

Thanks, It goes to show that October and November are classic for those wonderful warm Indian Summer days that we locals just love before the snow really arrives.
Enjoyed our week over Christmas. Jamie went out of her way to make us feel welcomed.
There was one minor issue and Jamie was all over it. Extremely professional! Highly recommended this house. Hope to come back again.
Thank you
Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Las Posadas El Salto. The property is spectacular; quiet, great views, private, and peaceful. In addition, the property is well supplied (blankets, kitchen utensils, laundry, etc.) and comfortable. Connectivity (broadband/wi-fi and wireless) is good and supported my remote work needs.I was in Taos for skiing and snowboarding, so this was a near perfect setting and location. I think it would be equally great in the summer as well. The owners are very responsive. In addition, they took care of aspects I expected to be responsible for during a long stay, such as trash removal from the property.

Gem in Aroyo Seco/Taos Ski Valley
This is our fourth time renting this property in ten years. It is our favorite place to stay in Taos. It's half way to the ski village, half way to town. Very private, beautiful house. Best amenity is the hot tub. No sharing with other hotel guests! The house is wonderful with a full kitchen and plenty of space to spread out. Fireplace/stove is very cozy on cold nights. Laundry onsite is a HUGE plus. Lower apartment bungalow is great for extra guests. Owner is always around to help. Amazing knowledge of the area and valley. Hiking trails are near by. It feels like home! Beautiful views, stars and more. Can't wait til next year!

Perfect for ski vacation hideaway!
Had a wonderful time at Jamie's place. Kitchen stove worked great, no high altitude problems. Loved the flexibility of the kitchen (able to see the LR and DR) and the fireplace stove was wonderful on cold nights. Hot tub was really nice and very clean. Rooms were spacious and bathrooms great. Even the kids (3 & 5) loved the place. Would definitely stay here again. Laundry facilities were definitely a plus. Next time we won't bring so many clothes! Lots of stairs though. Up to the second floor and up from the parking area. Got quite a workout! Recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle, as road is "bumpy." Arroyo Seco is a great little town and the Taos Cow had great breakfast burrito's! See you in 2013! Black Lab was very friendly!

Labor Day Leisure
Las Posadas El Salto offered my family the perfect opportunity to escape for the holiday weekend. We made the late decision to head to Taos for the weekend and were able to work with Jamie, the owner, to secure the property within several several hours of first contact. Jamie knowledge of the local area allowed us to effectively plan activities surrounding the whole weekend. Hiking and fishing opportunities abound and Jamie will be more than happy to help you decide what to do. The House itself was extremely clean and well appointed. We ate in every night, cooking in the kitchen was easy, which often times is the perfect solution for travelers with small children, it additionally allowed us to keep the overall cost very reasonable. Jamie also allowed us to bring our dogs along to stay, as long as we followed a couple very logical rules. I'm pretty sure they had the best time of anyone on the trip.
Things to keep in mind. Taos proper is about a 20 min drive depending on traffic, perfect for myself, but may seem a bit longer if you drive into town for every meal. You are in the midst of a national forest, so wildlife is at your back door; awesome as far as I'm concerned, but your opinion may differ. The house sits at 8000+ feet, if your coming from sea level expect to notice the alt. Don't use that as an excuse not to get out and see the natural wonders that the area has to offer; you'll only be disappointed in yourself.
All in all I would highly recommend staying at Las Posadas El Salto, and will be coming back very soon.

With 15 + years of guiding people in Northern New Mexico with so many different activities and sports. I still love showing guests and friends the many secrets and special spots, be it the World Series of Fly fishing in the Fall or steep hidden north facing chutes in West Basin at Taos Ski Valley still choked with deep cold beautiful powder weeks after a big storm.
I would expect the same if I was in your special part of the world you call paradise. I promise I wont tell a soul though. (joke)
Yes, definitely we are tucked away about a thousand feet higher than town of Taos in the forest, but still have incredible 360 degree views. Strangely enough, we are warmer in the winter due to what is called a Temperature Inversion layer. In winter the frigid cold air from the 13,000 ft peaks around Taos sinks down through the valleys and rests in town of Taos, while the warmer air rises above and keeps it down there. This is why Albuquerque and Santa Fe have what is called no burn nights in Winter with wood stoves. Also its another reason not to rent or buy land in cold and sunshaded valleys near tall mountains.
Inversely, Las Posadas El Salto is 10 to15 degrees cooler than the town of Taos in the Summer. That translates into a 90 + degree day in town at 7,000 ft and about a high of 75 to 80 at the property. Thats really a big deal when the USA just recorded its hottest year ever in 2012.
As we have mentioned in the past it takes anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes depending on weather and town traffic to get to the south side of town. We live in a valley thats almost 30 miles across. Thats why we use Blueberry Hill road as our bypass to get around the plaza traffic. Mostly we do a big shop in town and then if we want to eat out, we eat at the wonderful restaurant selection from Hwy 150 North through Arroyo Seco and on up into the Taos Ski valley.
Safe Travels everyone!

Amazing Mountain Retreat
My husband and I had an amazing 10 day anniversary vacation of hiking, exploring, relaxing and enjoying beautiful northern New Mexico. Las Posadas El Salto home was a perfect secluded mountain top escape for us to be our "home away from home" during this time. While secluded, it's a quick drive to Arroyo Seco, Taos and all the places we wanted to get to mountain hiking or for a nice dinner or an afternoon Espresso.
Jamie was amazing to work with from the beginning, was always available for questions, provided info hiking trails, tips on where to eat and even what to order. The home's upper bedroom was sooo comfortable with its own deck and place to watch the sunsets. We would come back from a day of hiking, listen to music with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down from there. Just beautiful. The whole house has loads of windows. Being early June, we kept the windows open at night to enjoy the mountain cross-breezes blowing through for a perfect relaxing restful sleep. There are two decks to choose where you want to lounge around on. Jamie tries to think of EVERYTHING you might need. From things to cook with, spices, plenty of towels, icepack (for my husband's back!), coats, maps to hiking trails and shops. He even helped us get our boarding passes printed before we left.
At the time we were there, New Mexico had a few issues with moths around the city, so we became the resident "moth hunters" that seemed to sneak into the house, which was a bit annoying. I don't think Jamie could have prevented that. The furniture is comfortable, durable and planned for all seasons, including the ski-season, so we understood it was not going to be brand new. Everything was very clean, well-cared for and ready for us when we arrived, including linens, showers, dishes, glassware, pots and pans. We had an AMAZING time! A PLUS+

We are delighted to hear that your stay at Las Posadas El Salto was relaxing, rejuvenating and alot of fun. We enjoy offering our beautiful vacation rental house with a great host who wants his guests to have all the local knowledge they need to make a super getaway. We are also so glad that you took in the magic of the house and area of El Salto. We think its the best Taos has to offer for so many reasons.
We know our fellow travellers have alot of choices in and around Taos NM. We believe all they need to do is watch our beautifully shot video tour of the house and its private forested surroundings and read our reviews from past guests and they can picture themselves in one of the best family getaways in Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall in Northern NM.
We hear over and over again that when guests arrive and relax at the house that they feel the weight of hectic life schedules and stress and demands lifted. This is one of the most peaceful and quiet settings in Taos. Most properties here have the noise of some road/highway or other city type sounds. At Las Posadas El Salto all you hear is the wind singing through the tall pines and snow falling on cedars in winter.
As far as the Pine moths go. They are part of the natural forest life cycle here in the Rockies as well as most of the interior west. After snowy wet winters their hatch can be quite prolific as was the case this June. It lasts about 1 to 2 weeks, so thats why we keep the doors closed at night as much as possible during the hatch as they love seeking out the outdoor lights. They are completely harmless unlike mosquitos which we dont have at this elevation of 8300 feet.
Happy vacationing everyone and thank you guests for all the good times and great memories. We very much appreciate your choice of staying at Las Posadas El Salto.
All the best,
The Las Posadas El Salto Team

A Wonderful Winter Getaway Location
We spent our Thanksgiving Holiday at Las Posadas El Salto and had a fantastic vacation. The house was perfect for our needs. We had our family of 4 upstairs in the 2 story main house and my In-laws stayed in the separate apartment. We also brought our two small dogs!
The downstairs apartment has a small kitchen where meals could be prepared and it's own refrigerator, too. We cooked all of our meals upstairs and found the kitchen to be well stocked with all we needed. The dining table seats 8 and there is additional space to sit if you need to feed more people. The radiant floor heating kept the house nice and cozy.
The top floor is a very large master bedroom and bath with a balcony and office space. There is plenty of space for an air mattress (or two) in this room if you need additional space for children or other guests. TVs in every room make it easy to accommodate all viewers, although we didn't spend much time watching TV. My son did enjoy the Xbox downstairs and there was a wide variety of games and movies available.
The house was in a beautiful, serene location set off of the main roads. We hiked along El Salto road. There were many places to play in the snow near the house, so our kids were very happy building snowmen and playing right outside the door! When we did venture out, we had a quick trip (10 min) into Taos to shop/eat and it was also conveniently located on the way to the Taos Ski Valley (15 min).
Jamie was extremely helpful and very responsive. We had a couple of questions and were able to text him or call and get an answer right away. We needed dishwashing detergent, I texted, received a quick reply, and it was delivered that day while we were out. The washer and dryer were very handy as well.
We enjoyed our winter vacation. We travelled to the US Ski Hill which is a great place for some free sledding. We purchased a sled at the Taos ACE Hardware and had a blast! We enjoyed shopping and exploring the town of Taos and Arroyo Seco., We went snowmobiling on the Taos mountain with Big Al.
We had so much fun, that we are planning to visit again in the summer, and Las Posadas El Salto is where we will be staying!

What a magical, snowy, perfect Thanksgiving holiday we had in Taos New Mexico. I think this is the best place to host your family and friends for any holiday of the year. It is so quiet, private and custom in quality of furnishings and amenities. I sure do enjoy having all of my extended family come and spend a week at the property.
Happy New Year everyone,
Jamie Baldonado
We loved our stay at El Salto! The location is magical, the home is spacious, and the hosts replied quickly to any questions we had. Do not miss a hike on the Canoncito trail! Bring cash and check out alltrails app before going.
Will be back!! Can’t wait!
The house had everything we needed. We cooked every night and there were plenty of spices and all the cookware we needed. The house was clean, and very cute. We got a foot of snow, and the property owner came over and plowed the road and driveway. He even cleared the snow from the jeep and deck area. I would definitely stay again.
Our group of five adult skiers stayed at Jaimie's house as part of a ski vacation to Taos, a short 8 mile drive away. The house is bright & airy, well-equipped and in a rustic but accessible setting. We had our adolescent Welsh Springer with us, and she very much enjoyed romping through the lovely woodland adjacent to the property.
We would absolutely stay again.
Family ski trip, with enough room for us all, including pets. Kitchen well stocked, convenient. Plenty of towels, comfortable furniture, pretty scenery, to name a few things we enjoyed. Beautiful view from upstairs bedroom. Plenty hot water. Only downfall is if we hadn’t had 4 wheel drive, we couldn’t have got up to the house after snow.
We absolutely loved our stay at Las Posadas! It looked exactly like the pictures, if not better! The chalet was incredibly comfortable and had everything we needed provided. We arrived just before a snow storm, and unfortunately had a loss of power, but Jamie, the owner, came over and hooked up a generator to help until power returned. His communication and assistance was amazing! The location is close to Taos, close to the Ski Valley, but really in the "middle of nowhere" which is exactly what we were looking for! The views were amazing no matter where you look. We cannot wait to return to Las Posadas with family or friends for a summer vacation! Thank you Jamie for sharing your incredible home!
This is the second time we have stayed at Jamie's place, enjoyed it just as much this time. Quiet with great hiking right outside the door! The sunsets were amazing!
We really enjoyed Jamie's home. It is a great location near all the activities in the Taos area. The views from the upper deck were incredible. The house was clean and well appointed. We would definitely stay there again.

The summer of 2021 has been a magical one for sure. A big thanks goes out to all the wonderful travelers who stuck with their plans in 2020, to come and enjoy staying at one of the best family mountain retreats in the southern Rockies.. Las Posadas El Salto is still the best kept vacation rental secret in Taos.
Stay safe out there everyone!
Cheers,
Jamie B
This was our 4th visit to the Taos, NM area. We've stayed at different locations each time. This was by far our favorite.
Pretty much hiking right out your backdoor. There are several varieties of hiking trails all over the Taos area.
Many we wish to still get to one day.
We've now been here in the spring, fall (2 times), and winter holiday time once.
Love the dry heat, cool nights, and so many warm sunny days, and the AMAZING Snowcapped Mountain Views .
Jaime is an excellent host. Always quick to reply to questions we had.
Thanks for the outstanding week in your beautiful, casual, mountain home.

We loved everything about this place! It was perfect for our group. It ranged in age from 6 months to 60. You can’t beat the location and the view from the balcony. We cooked most all of our meals here and the kitchen is well equipped with everything I needed. We spent some time outside hiking around and entertained ourselves with the sleds and practice snowboard that were provided. The hot tub was just what we needed after a long day at the slopes. Taos Ski Valley is about a 15 minute drive. Overall we couldn’t have asked for anything more and we definitely plan to come again in the future! Thanks so much for extending your home to us❤️
Beautiful home in a great location! We had a wonderful time and Mother Nature blessed us with plenty of snow. Great hot tub, cozy fire and very responsive owner for any needs. But all was well. Would love to return!
House was very clean and instructions/labels were very helpful; kitchen was well stocked which was helpful for quarantine. Three of us worked remotely and didn’t really have issues with the internet; sometimes you need to log back in so just type “168.192.1.1” into the browser and the login should pop back up. Location was great - 20mins from Taos, Taos Ski Valley, and Carson Natl Forest, 15mins from Rio Grande National Monument, and 7 mins from the small town of Arroyo Seco. Would love to come back hopefully in more normal times
I wasn’t sure about the property’s location when I booked it as I am I was unfamiliar with the Taos area. I just knew I did not want to be in town. I wanted someplace quiet,, but not too far from Taos. We wanted to be close to the mountains, hiking and gorgeous scenery . We got all of this in Arroyo Seco. Loved the little village right outside of Taos. It is about a 15 minute drive.
This place has a 3rd level deck that is so cool to hang out in and to just chill watching the sunset while drinking wine. It is accessible Only from the huge master bedroom and I felt very safe from any critters that might be wandering about. The main area of the house With another bedroom off of the kitchen , is very comfortable, nothing fancy, kind of rustic but the kitchen and open living room had all the amenities one would need. It is stocked very well.
There is no a grocery store except for an small organic one which is pricey so I suggest getting essentials before you head out of Taos.
We did not cook a whole lot . The cooktop and oven probably could use alittle love but it seemed to function okay for our needs. There is a BBQ grill on the lower deck that works beautifully. The internet is kind of spotty but my husband was able to work from there. We did not use the hot tub that was situated in its own little hut off of the main deck.
We had some minor issues but Had no problems getting them resolved as the communication with the owner was superb.
We loved our time there this summer and hope to be back. It is a good place to relax , take in the gorgeous surroundings and walks and just reconnect with nature. It is also dog friendly which was important to us,
3rd time here and that should tell you something. Great summer weather and beautiful sunset veiws. Home has lots of space for 3 couples.
Love being in Taos!
