A cozy one-bedroom upstairs apartment with eclectic Southwestern style just steps from downtown Raton. Easy, comfortable, and full of character — ideal for couples, solo travelers, and anyone passing through northeastern New Mexico.
The Space:
La Casita is a well-appointed upstairs apartment carrying Airbnb's Guest Favorite designation — awarded to the top 5% of listings worldwide.
Full kitchen with coffee, fiber-optic Wi-Fi, full bath with tub, and a 65" smart TV with quality sound system. The shared yard is spacious and shaded — common space with the Carriage House and Gallery House on the same property. A small private patio with chairs sits at the base of the stairs.
Off-street parking on site — trucks and trailers usually fit, just message ahead if you're running an oversized rig. Note: the apartment is accessed by a somewhat steep staircase.
Guest Access:
Private access to the full apartment. Shared yard, parking, and outdoor spaces with other properties on site. Self check-in via smart lock. Your personal access code and full arrival details will be sent automatically before your stay.
Getting Around:
Raton is a small town so walking is easy but parking is plentiful so driving is fine too. La Casita sits just off 2nd Street — the main corridor through Raton — with everything downtown walkable from your door. Bruno's Pizza, Casa Lemus, Colfax Ale Cellar, and Coffee Sage are all within a few blocks. Climax Canyon Park, a nationally recognized trail system, is a short walk away.
Capulin Volcano National Monument is 25 minutes out. The NRA Whittington Center is minutes from town. Sugarite Canyon State Park offers hiking, fishing, and kayaking just outside Raton. For hunters, northeastern New Mexico is some of the most productive elk and mule deer country in the West.
Other Things to Note:
La Casita is the only pet-friendly property in the portfolio — dogs considered with prior approval. $50 nightly pet fee, $75 for multiple pets, $150 deposit.
All three downtown Raton properties are on the same block and together sleep up to 13 guests. Ideal for larger groups — message about combined availability.
Looking for a remote ranch experience? We also host at our working cattle ranch 35 miles west — dark skies, volcanic landscape, and a completely different escape. Ask us for details.
Interaction with Guests:
Nathaniel is reachable by text and responds quickly. He's based on a working ranch 35 miles west — service can be spotty in this part of New Mexico, but he'll get back to you.

We have stayed at one of Nathan's properties for 2 years - 2 weeks this year, a month last year, and hope to always be able to stay at his property when we travel to Raton. We love the neighborhood, his properties are always as described and easy to live in for the time we are in Raton. Nathan is always quick to respond and takes care of our needs. We look forward to our trip next year and plan to book his property as soon as we know our dates. Thank you, Nathan, again.
