The Bird House Bungalow is a 1936 home. Each bedroom has its own full suite. Moved to its current location, the Bungalow has retained its original hardwood floors, all its original windows, and its great Historic charm. If you're looking for modern tile floors, coastal decor, white walls, and granite counters this home is not for you :)

Brimming with historic character, it also has all the comforts of the modern day home: An updated kitchen, bathrooms with central air and heat. The back screened sitting porch and outside area give our guests wonderful opportunities to experience Florida's outdoor beauty. The back yard is fenced for your furry family member. Across the street are tennis courts, a basketball court, and beautiful Pioneer park that is dog friendly. This property is not in a gated community and is very walk-able with designated bike lanes. The neighborhood boasts an array of architectural styles from 1882 to present day. The Birdhouse's proximity to most ALL of Sarasota's amenities is within a 3 mile radius. Whole Foods, Historic Main St., 2 Starbucks locations, and a plethora of unique restaurants sure to satisfy anyone's pallet. St. Armands Circle and Lido Beach are 2 miles from the home and Nathan Benderson Park is 8 miles.

Great location comfortable home

We .enjoyed the character of the home. It was spacious and in a great location to enjoy a beautiful park across the street as well as historic Sarasota with wonderful happy hours.Close to 2 breweries, farmers markets on Wed,Sat, and Sun in different locations. Would definitely recommend

Beautiful house, great location, fabulous host!

We visit Sarasota 3-4 times per year and almost always rent houses. We've been doing this for about 35 years (since our parents moved down here). This was one on the most unique houses and best all-around experiences that we've had.

Wedding Daycare

My wife and I stayed here with our 1-yr old grandson while our daughter attended a wedding at a nearby hotel. The house was great in that it had the 3 separate bedrooms with bath. My daughter stayed one night and my sister in law stayed another. So it accommodated us great! Being close to the park and being able to walk to Publix or to the waterfront was perfect for stroller walks with my grandson. Check in and communication was prompt and to point. Would stay again!

A great vacation!

The house is just as described and the owner is very responsive to any needs. There was plenty of space for a family of 5. We enjoyed the kitchen literally equipped with everything you may need to cook a great meal!

Renting Kathryn’s home was a real pleasure. Kathryn greeted us at check in and made us feel very comfortable. She was very quick to respond to our questions. The home is old Florida funky….in a good way. It’s SO close to lots of attractions. We stayed there over two months and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay.

Beautiful home in a great location

Had a wonderful stay! Katherine met us even though we arrived late and gave us a tour and information about the area. The house and property are beautiful. The area is fantastic and we appreciated that we could walk down town but were far enough away that the evenings were quiet and peaceful. Amenities were great, including the beach gear. We wanted for nothing.

Wonderful house and host

We stayed at Birdhouse Bungalow for a week and loved it. The house is beautifully and uniquely decorated and peaceful. Katherine was a great host as well. She met us when we checked in and showed us the house and answered questions we had about the area. Our daughter is a freshman at a nearby college and plan to rebook whenever we come to town.

Birdhouse Bungalow

We stayed 4 days/night, 6 adults. It was perfect. Well equipped and comfortable. All three couples agreed that having a bedroom with bathroom was Definately a plus for three couples. However, all that stayed thought the large livingroom/kitchen area accommodated our group perfectly. All of us would Definately stay again.

Fantastic location and home

This was the perfect place for our family of four and our dog . Our teenagers enjoyed having their own spaces, making it easy to attend virtual high school classes. It is a fun, comfy, and eclectic house. The location is ideal, with a short drive to the beach or St Armand’s circle. The park across the street was perfect for walks and a game of basketball. Highly recommend this vacation home.

Great home for our family to enjoy Christmas.

Great location - we walked most everywhere. The home was comfortable and delightfully unusual. Very clean and well organized. Katherine was a great host and made excellent suggestions for food and travel. Loved the screen porch and spent many hours there relaxing and chatting. Sarasota is a wonderful city - good food and nice folks. If you like music try the Blue Rooster - great food as well.

Mini-Vacay

This beautiful Historic bungalow is just perfect. all of Florida historic charm and beyond. The Bird-House Bungalow was so comfortable and decorated beautifully with all types of Vintage historic art work and memorabilia. very easy location to accessing all of the best dining and the trolley system to take you most anywhere you would want to go. If I ever get a chance to visit Sarasota again I would definitely pick this lovely home. And Ms. Katherine was just Lovely.

The Bird House Bungalow is an amazing house. You will definitely find a Bohemian "splash" in every room of the house. The longer you stay the more treasures you will discover. Catherine was the absolute best hostess. She thinks of every detail to make your stay comfortable. A five star experience!

Perfect area, amazing unique house, and hostess!

My father and I stayed at the Birdhouse and were lucky that Katherine was so accommodating . This place has everything you need for your beach getaway and easy access to any area in Sarasota ! It is a block away from grocery store as well. The house comes stocked with everything one should need , including beach accessories . There is a big porch and backyard area to hang out in as well as a lot of space within the house. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks Katherine for helping my Dad and I!

A Sarasota resident for 65 years, raised on Siesta Key I consider myself a preservationist for Sarasota History and the environment. Art and gardening are my passions. My first endeavor with rehabilitation was another Sarasota Bungalow in1996. Sweet Mango Manor was my next rehab. I moved the Birdhouse to its current location in 2006. It was a joy to rehabilitate and now I share it with special guests that love the history!

A large City Park (Pioneer) directly across the street with the home of the Sarasota County Historical Society taking center stage. Children's playground, tennis courts, and a wonderful walk able community! A City fringe neighborhood is the perfect location for walking and biking to experience the rich culture, history, and extraordinary number of assets this small city has!

A step back in time with a taste of old Sarasota, The Bird House is nestled in a wonderfully eclectic National Register historic district. Close to the cultural district, Main street, Lido Beach, Ringling Museum, and a plethora of fine restaurants and boutique shopping. Starbucks and Whole Foods less than a mile away.
