Clean and comfortable

The house is well maintained, very clean, and the furniture is comfortable. It's a short walk to the ponds, too. We will definitely stay here again!

Return to Homeport

We were pleased to be able to return to Homeport. Jerry, the new owner, was very responsive to our needs. The home is very much the same but there have been several noticeable improvements. We love the location near to John Joseph Pond and the two additional kayaks are a great addition. We look forward to returning in 2026.

The house itself is in a beautiful setting and has a lot of potential, but unfortunately the condition of the home did not meet our expectations. The main issue was a very strong pet urine smell coming from large, visibly stained areas of carpet in the main living room. The owner responded promptly to our concern and arranged to have the carpet cleaned on Monday. However, this required us to leave the house for several hours and was disruptive to our stay. The cleaning was somewhat, but not entirely effective. There was also an issue with the grill, which initially would not get above about 300 degrees and required us to clean it ourselves before we were eventually able to use it.We appreciated that the owner was available and responsive when we contacted them, but we felt our concerns were sometimes diminished rather than acknowledged. We were particularly uncomfortable when, after we raised these issues and requested a partial refund to account for the disruption, the owner informed us that they had documented a complaint about our conduct with the platform. From our perspective, we were simply reporting problems with the property and asking that they be addressed. Given the price and presentation of the listing, we expected a higher standard of cleanliness and maintenance, as well as a more constructive response when legitimate concerns were raised.

Beautiful Cape Getaway

This was our first experience with VRBO and renting a house for the week. The pictures and descriptions were accurate. The house was very clean upon arrival. They even had a little care package waiting for us. Cape Code chips and Salt Water Taffy and a thank you card. We just loved the little touches. Our three teen boys loved the single person kayaks already at the lake. We had many family dinners together in the beautiful kitchen and outside on the deck. The kitchen had many pots and pans, utensils. Basic spices. The bedrooms were very nicely decorated. Very clean and comfortable beds. We would love to come stay again. Very highly recommended.

Mostly pros, few cons

The home was centrally located and very near a nice lake for swimming, fishing, kayaking. The home was nicely decorated and beds were comfortable, home was clean and had nice space for a family. Kitchen was nicely stalked with dish/glassware pots and utensils. Linens and towels provided and ample supply. Cons- microwave was malfunctioning. There was a urine scent in living room and back door to porch did not close so had to be careful with dog getting out. Scanty supply of dish soap, bath soaps, trash bags, and toilet paper, coffee filters. Felt had to be mindful of usage with 5 adults. And upon check out, car was parked out front of house 20 minutes prior to check out. This was awkward. Otherwise. A pleasant stay.

We do provide a start-up supply kit. That's just enough for all guests to start they're vacation without having to run to the grossery store to buy, paper towel, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, conditioner, kitchen soap, dishwasher soap, etc. We apologize for this misinformation

Lovely Memorial Weekend Getaway

We had a very nice stay in this clean and cozy Cape retreat! There was an extra TV room and sunroom which were a nice bonus that we were able to have a bit more space. There were 3 adults, a 4 year old and one dog and we were quite comfortable. The weather was pretty cool and rainy for most of our trip, so we did not utilize the deck or yard with firepit and bocce court, unfortunately. But looked like it would be nice with warmer/ drier weather. I was able to reach out to the listing agent as the description was that there were electronic locks on the door, but in fact there were not. The key was in a lock box behind the side deck, so hopefully they update the information provided for check in. I was panicking that I was looking like I was trying to break in and may have the wrong house! But walking around the house I was able to find the lock box. Only complaint would be that the microwave was not working and not able to get that fixed on our visit, but we were able to use the toaster oven for the limited times we needed to heat anything up. There was a beach down the street but they did not allow dogs (and it was cold and windy so we weren't making it a beach day, just walks) but we were able to drive a bit and get the last of the dog friendly beach days before the summer for the pup. 5 min away was gas, groceries, liquor store and a tavern style restaurant so easy access to things that you may need during your stay.

Hi Heather, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughtful and detailed review! We're so glad to hear that you had a comfortable and enjoyable stay, even with the cool and rainy weather. It’s great to know the extra TV room and sunroom gave your group a bit more space to relax — and we're happy your pup enjoyed those last dog-friendly beach days! We truly appreciate your note about the key access. That feedback has already been shared so we can update the listing instructions and avoid any confusion for future guests. Apologies again about the microwave — and thank you for being so flexible with the toaster oven in the meantime. Just to let you know, the microwave has since been repaired and is all set for the next group of guests. We're glad everything else you needed was within easy reach, and that the home served as a cozy retreat for your group. We’d love to welcome you back again — hopefully with some sunshine next time! Warm regards,

Host was very responsive. Property was very clean and on a quiet road and centrally located. Very spacious inside and outside. Walking distance to a pond with kayaks. And 5 minute drive to Cape Cod railway for biking and jogging. 10 minute drive to a beautiful, large and clean beach with great facilities. Close to restaurants.
