About this property
Bright, Cozy, Private Vermont Respite
A countryside retreat that lands you in the heart of some of Vermont's most iconic attractions: 25 minutes to Burlington, Lake Champlain and Waterbury, 15 to Bolton, 45 to Stowe/Sugarbush, and 5 to the Sleepy Hollow Nordic/Mountain Biking Center. With the Johnnie Brook running through the backyard, hiking trails close to the property and the quaint Richmond town center just a few miles away, this home away from home has everything you need to rest, relax and enjoy some of the best of Vermont.
The space
Set on wonderfully private 12 acres, the home is clean, cozy, warm and bright. With three bedrooms upstairs and a bunk room downstairs it comfortably sleeps twelve guests. The home is made for rest, relaxation and recreation: warm-up by one of the fireplaces, slip away into the library, play a board game with family, host an air hockey tournament with friends, have that talented cousin entertain on the piano, relax by the brook, catch one the best starlit nights you may ever see or take in a snowy winter night from the all-season sunroom. In the warmer months enjoy the sweeping lawn, relax on the hammock or smores at one of two outdoor firepits.
Wifi, laundry, Prime and Netflix, a propane grill on the landscaped stone patio, an oversized farmhouse table, and more blankets than one could count are just a few of the things that will help you enjoy your stay. There are two and a half bathrooms - one with a deep soaking tub. The kitchen is complete with all the amenities needed to put together a family dinner with coffee, tea, some light breakfast fare and a few local wares provided to welcome you to the home.
Other things to note
In the warmer months, Black Bears pass through from time to time. They are quite skittish and will keep their distance. It is essential, however, that the bears are never fed nor should food be left out in any manner. Doing so poses a threat to guests... and the bears. Thank you for helping to keep our local wildlife safe and happy.

About the host
Hosted by Steve Theoharides
I was born in in Washington, D.C., few up in MA, but have called VT my home for the last 20 years or so. While I have tried escape a few times, I have return for the area a few times, finally settling in Richmond in 2016.
Hosting us just good fun! It is a great way to meet people and share my home and the places I call home with curious travelers. I enjoy having the house full of like - whether that is friends or family enjoying each other's company or kids running around - even if they've taken to clanging on the piano!

Why they chose this property
My home, while close to amenities is far enough away to find privacy and a sense of calm isolation.
What Richmond lacks in size, it makes up for in charm. We are fortunate to have an array of fantastic eateries: Hatchet (gastropub), The Kitchen Table Bistro (fine dining), Sweet Simone's (bakery and breakfast), Stone's Throw (pizza), and Papa McKee's (pizza, Italian, local's watering hole). The Sleepy Hollow Nordic and Mountain Bike Center is just a few miles down the road from the home. The Historic Round Church is a unique and central feature of the town center (and is absolutely worth a stop for any history or architectural enthusiasts). And if Stowe just isn't your speed, visit Richmond's very own Cochran's Ski Area or Bolton Valley (just a few minutes further, in Bolton). If you are looking for a few more options the highway takes you to the bustling metropolis (well at least by VT standards) of Burlington or to the eclectic dining options of Waterbury Village in just 25 minutes. The town brewery, Stone Corral, is a great way to round out the day by grabbing a pint or two while taking in a bit of live music.

What makes this property unique
Privacy and comfort, while being close to good food, great adventure or remarkable scenery.
The house is bright and spacious. There are 2 gas fireplaces - one warming the year round sunroom. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the amenities one would need to host a grand feast. The bunkroom is a family favorite and the air hockey table makes for non-stop fun. There are two outdoor firepits and a large backyard, where you can enjoy time in the sun and yet complete privacy. The piano and extensive library (stocked with children's books as well) make for a relaxing retreat within the house. There is more parking that you will likely need and there a small brook just off the backyard - you may just get a peek at the beavers that call the property home as well!
