Break Time is a Dream Vacation Destination located in the Bermuda Bay community in Kill Devil Hills! This beautifully decorated townhome is fully furnished with every convenience. This family-friendly beach condo offers 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, a fully furnished kitchen, bistro table, eat-on bar, dining area, living room, fireplace, free WiFi, and cable TV in every bedroom. The garage has been transformed into a game area and comfortable gathering area. There are multiple decks to relax, and a charcoal grill to barbeque and enjoy outdoor dining. This immaculate property sleeps 7 with one King bed, one Queen bed, and fun bunk beds with a lower full size mattress and a twin up top with a pull out twin trundle mattress. We provide clean sheets and towels for your convenience and comfort. The upper level is a large guest suite with a bunkbed and pull out trundle, and a play area with a foosball table. The lower level garage has been renovated into a great entertaining area with a TV, Nintendo Wii, dartboard, a full-sized table and lounge furniture, and plenty of space to play various games. There is a parking space in front of the garage and an extra reserved parking space just for this property.
This home consists of four levels. Ground floor has the garage and entrance, second floor consists of the master king bedroom and bath, Queen bedroom and bath, and laundry. The kitchen, dining, living room and half bath are located on the third level, and the fourth floor hosts the bunk room and a full bath. This lovely townhome is located in the heart of Kill Devil Hills. Break Time (formerly known as PB&J) offers a fun community swimming pool (a mini waterpark with lazy river, splash pools and waterslide), clubhouse with lounge, pool table, entertainment area, and fitness center... or load the beach wagon with our beach chairs, and cooler and enjoy the beach access that provides a fully equipped bath house with on-site showers, restroom facilities, and plenty of parking. Biking / Walking distance is just at 1 mile to the ocean, and if you choose to drive, there is ample free parking! If you are interested in bike rentals, Ocean Atlantic Rentals will deliver bikes for your stay as well as other beach equipment. There are several must see attractions close by. Be sure to visit the Wright Brothers Memorial, which is within walking distance, Jockey's Ridge State Park (the world's largest living sand dune), The Corolla Wild Horses, The Lost Colony, take the ferry over to Ocracoke Island, and visit our beautiful lighthouses. A day of food and shopping in Downtown Waterfront Manteo or Duck is always a treat! Grocery stores, shopping, restaurants and entertainment are all very close by. We provide a roll of toilet paper per bathroom, one roll of paper towels, liquid dish detergent, a trash bag, and a dishwasher tab to get you started. As for linens, you will be provided with clean sheets, a bath towel and wash cloth per guests. You will find hand towels in bathrooms as well. We do not provide beach towels. We would LOVE to welcome you as our guests! Check-in starts at 4pm. Check out is at 9:30 am. The housekeeper will arrive no later than 10 am on check-out day. Early check-in and late check-out are typically not available during the summer season. We will send you the door access code the day of check-in.

Beautiful Vacation Home. The owners were more than kind to respond immediately to any questions I had. The house was spotless very well stocked. Peaceful and quiet and the pool was fantastic. Close enough to all the activities but far enough away from the traffic. You won’t go wrong staying here.

Great property that worked well for us. For families the pool/splashpad was great. Good workout all week with the stairs so if that's an issue this is probably not for you.

Beautiful, well equipped home! Very spacious and comfortable! Within minutes of the best attractions of OBX! The Wright Brothers museum, the Sand Dune park, light houses, piers, Roanoke island, and best of all the beach and ocean! Host was available and answered any questions or concerns about the house and really anything. Will highly recommend staying at this location!!! The house was clean, comfortable, in a resort- style community with access to the pool area but also close to local activities and shops. Check in and check out were easy and straightforward. Full kitchen including coffee maker and Kuerig . The queen bedroom and king bedroom are on the 2nd floor, living area/ kitchen on the 3rd floor and kids bedroom is up on the 4th floor. We did bring our baby monitor with us.

Very clean property and the host was very communicative and responded promptly. We drove to the beach since it was kind of a far walk with a little one and equipment, but our teenage son walked it. There was always free parking at the near Beach access. Unfortunately, the pool became out of commission shortly into our stay but the host got us a pass to the local Y, which is about a 10 minute drive and has a very nice outdoor pool.

Wonderful stay!

We loved the home. It was perfectly accessible to the beach, stores etc. Had a great community pool which the kids enjoyed. The home itself was clean, neat and furnished with everything we could possibly need - utensils, cutleries, bottle opener, scissors, stationeries, beach chairs, board games, wagon, ice box. We truly enjoyed the thoughtfulness of the host and would love to stay here again.

Great for kids, central location and beautiful property!

We had 2 moms and 4 kids ages 3-10 on a summer beach trip, and this was the perfect place to stay. -It is centrally located in KDH and easy and quick to get to anything we needed. We drove a short distance to public beach access (there are MANY access points!) and used Cabana Boys for chair and tent setup. -Beautiful, calming space with everything we needed. Lots of pillows and blankets so everyone was comfy. -LOVED the pool/mini water park - huge benefit to this rental! -We had some construction happening while we were there, and the hosts handled it 100% appropriately and communicated very well. We would book here again in a heartbeat!

For our first trip to OBX, we had an excellent stay! The space was spotless and well-maintained, with everything we needed for a comfortable visit. The beds were incredibly comfortable with high-quality linens, and the bath towels felt like something you'd find in a luxury hotel. The home was fully stocked with all the amenities and household items we could have asked for. It was so nice to not have to save room to pack beach essentials but still be able to enjoy the beach with all of the chairs, wagon, etc. available in the garage! As early morning travelers, we were especially grateful for the early check-in—it was such a pleasant surprise and made our arrival stress-free. Highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a clean, cozy, and well-equipped place to stay!

Awesome first trip to OBX!

From the moment we arrived, we knew Break Time was the perfect place for our family. The owners were very helpful with any and all questions. The home is equipped with everything you need to have the best vacation! We enjoyed every part of the property including the pool area! Our littles begged to visit the pool everyday. 2024 summer stay

I would definitely stay here again! The home is beautifully decorated and clean. Everyone was able to have their own little space. It’s close to the beach, stores, restaurants, etc. All the extras they offered kept the kids occupied when some rain passed through. The pool and water area was so much fun especially with babies (16 month old) it was perfect for them to splash around in. And the pool also offered ice cream which was another plus for our 11 year old.

"Break Time" was a win!

“Break Time” was GREAT! It is clean, professionally decorated, with comfortable beds, and lots of small touches that make it feel special. The place had everything we needed, even a coffee bar with some coffee, teas, and sugars. The best part is the garage that has been converted into a recreation room with a dart board, video games, tv, seating and more! We feel like we found our new go-to spot in the Outer Banks and are already planning our next trip back this summer at “Break Time"!

This was a great place to stay for our family of 5, including 3 kids age 3-9 years old. The home was spacious, very clean, and very thoughtfully decorated. We loved having a washer and dryer, Keurig, and other conveniences within the house! We enjoyed having family meals out at the Brewing Station and Max’s Pizza, but AVOID China King!! The 1.2 mile walk to the beach was a bit much for our younger 2, but the beach wagon provided was very helpful. It’s also possible to drive the distance, but we did not see any available parking spaces in the designated area. The Dairy Queen nearby is also within walking distance which the kids loved. Best of all was the club house outdoor pool area. It was a short walk and we spent most of our time there- ice cream is available for purchase there too. The pool was clean and well maintained and was great for all ages.

Break time was a lovely vacation get a way. The home was clean, well supplied and had everything we needed to check in. Since we were traveling with a baby, the pool/splash area was great for us. The restaurants we found were excellent, although coming on a holiday weekend made the wait for a table longer. The only issue was that the roof was being replaced during our stay. However, the owners made us aware of this and were fair about compensating us due to this inconvenience. Kirsten responded to me promptly when I had a question. I would highly recommend Break time!

Amazing time:things to know for families

We had an amazing time and the place and owner were great! Here’s some key notes for any families with littles!We had 4 kids under 5! This house is 3 levels yes but I did not expect so many steps! This is hard with little kids so plan for that. Also we happen to bring baby gates and that was a life saver! The beach is really not in walking distance when you have little kids, we drove and it wasn’t bad at all. The splash pad was amazing however we came during a heat wave and the water was bath water warm we still enjoyed it :) The king bed room walk in closet fits a pack and play perfectly! We had our 2 year old sleep here with us ! The bunk bed room is top floor and adult rooms are 2 floors lower, this can be hard when kiddos are so far so we brought baby cameras! We will for sure be staying here again, these are just some things to plan for if you have little kiddos! The wagon was an amazing bonus that provided! There was construction going on during our stay that was not meant to happen so the owner gave us an inconvenience refund which was so polite ! Well worth the drive for us :)

We are the Slagle Family, the owners of “Break Time.” After many years of coming to the Outer Banks we were fortunate enough to purchase a place of our own and we decided to name our property “Break Time.”

We chose that name because we enjoy surfing, bodyboarding, and skimboarding the “breakers” as much as we can…….but we also like to feel like we are on a “break” from our busy lives when we are staying down here. “Break Time” also happened to be the name of a little hole in the wall bar in the very small town of Ashland, Virginia that Kirsten and I (Jack) spent many nights at with our friends while we were in college there.

Whether it’s catching a few surf breaks or taking a break from the hustle and bustle of life we hope you enjoy staying at “Break Time” as much as we do. There are so many great things to do, see, and experience when you are in the Outer Banks, we love being right in the heart of all the action here in Kill Devil Hills. Have a great break!
