Visit Horsin' Around atop Leatherwood Mountains. This new Log Cabin is a horse lovers dream. Horsin' Around is a beautiful 2 bedroom, newly constructed log home with a 2 stall barn with attached 12'x14' pens, and separate paddocks for turn-out (maximum 4 horses). This perfect horse lovers get-away is located on Wagon Ridge about as close to the Daniel Boone trail head as you can get. Ride directly from this great new rental property onto the Leatherwood Mountains trail system and return to the onsite 2 stall barn, just steps away from this modern, well-equipped log cabin. Relax and take in the view from the overlook chairs waiting on the porch. If Horses aren't your thing this brand new log cabin still has plenty to offer. Relax in front of the gas log fireplace and stone chimney while taking in the views from the great room's wall of windows. Slip away to the loft to watch the game on the 55 inch TV with Blue Ray. An air tub awaits in the master bathroom. A window seat in the master bedroom provides an ideal location to enjoyl Horsin' around's never ending views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Guests traveling with trailers or other long vehicles should be aware that the roads inside Leatherwood are narrow, steep, mountain roads that are not conducive to vehicles or trailers longer than a two horse bumper pull trailer or a goose neck trailer less than 20 feet long. Leatherwood is not responsible for any resulting damage.
Horsin’ Around is located at the end of a short narrow road. There is sufficient room for a 16 foot gooseneck trailer to make the turn around the barn, but nothing longer. When approaching Horsin’ Around, circle clockwise around the barn. If additional room is needed to complete the turn, the corners of the pens can be unchained and folded out of the way.

Out of the way!

This is a very nice location but keep in mind it is in the middle of nowhere. 1 hour from Blowing Rock. No restaurants around. The one on site is only open Friday nights during the winter. So pack everything you need. Is a great place for horses and riding.

It was fun

It was pretty private house, I really enjoyed the trip there, my wife did not it was about 50 min from Boone and blowing rock. There were a lot of dead bugs everywhere which I understand however it did bother my wife. Overall it was great

Wonderful stay!

My husband and I booked this place specifically for the seclusion! We wanted a weekend getaway for our anniversary while still being close to the “city”. This place was perfect! Very clean and everything you would want when coming to a VRBO! It’s 30 minutes from Wilkesboro and an hour from Boone. Some reviews mentioned not enough towels, TP or paper towels. There were 8-10 towels, 2 rolls of TP per bathroom and 2 rolls of paper towels. The only thing we lacked was baggies / foil to wrap up left overs. Reviews suggested 4x4 for the driveway and while we didn’t have any ice or snow in mid February we did use 4x4 to get out of the drive a couple of times. At first we were bothered by the lack of covering over the hot tub…until we went in at night and saw all the stars! That would’ve been lost with a covering! Beautiful place! Everything you need for a romantic weekend!
